Hold onto those solid Visions guys...you'll be rich after the line dies! Ha!!! ;)

About the sources - the funny thing is that it could be the same primary source that three different people are hearing from. Maybe Hasbro is needy and wants to feel the love? Who knows?
The thing is this: if Hasbro drops MU, don't doubt that Disney will quickly move their license to a different company. Disney clearly has good relationships with a number of toy manufacturers, and Hasbro is not the limit of their sales. I don't see this only because the toys seem to be selling. Now, if they keep doing revision waves, sure, figures will peg warm. It would make SO much more sense ending the movie licenses and moving them into a subset of Marvel Universe. That way they don't have to produce 12 Spideys and 6 Thor figures to fill the wave. It would be a far simpler thing to have a Captain America wave just as Legends just to have character waves (with BAFs). The movie figures tend to fair poorly against MU (notable exception: Winter Soldier) so just make them play together, so to speak. After following GI Joe for years, there are a few certainties: 1) Rumors of "the end of the line" crop up often. With Joes and TFs, it usually just means that a change is happening but not a real end. 2) Once Hasbro invests a lot of money into figure molds, they will make it into production in some way. The Joes had a figure called the "Data Viper" that Hasbro decided not to make due to costs. Already, most of the figure has appeared in movie figures to come out soon. Rumor was that there were these animated looking figures that were produced for the recent Joe cartoon. A few of them came out recently in an Amazon exclusive 4 pack. Thus, it is likely a Rogue and Ant-Man figure will be released in time because of the investment Hasbro has already put into those figures. 3) Don't trust Hasbro any more than internet rumors. Some of that is that their PR doesn't know everything, and some is that Hasbro doesn't like to show their cards early. Thus, SDCC will likely not reveal anything. |
The truth is the action figure genre is pretty much on it's last legs as a whole. Whether it lasts one year or another 10 with video games and such hi tech toys for kids to play with now it's on a downhill spiral. As for MU, while I love and wish it to never end, we all know it will eventually come to an end. If it does willl I be sad? yes. Will I have to find something else to fill it's gap? yes. Really and trully there isn't that much we as collectors can do but enjoy the ride while it lasts whether its just for the rest of this year or for years to come.

I have not said a word about your "Rumors" or called you a liar. I wrote that to kinda back you up. Until you list a source your comments have no "Basis in fact". Vonnor has said a few times the buyout was a blow to Hasbro. My comment...well the first half is based on FACTS....the last half is me just thinking. So until you can man up and list what you know then please stop.....I also have knowledge new product will be shown at SDCC........ |

@StarWarsPaul
Your right, I'm jaded, I have been burned in the past and I don't easily put my faith in people in general. That being said, I didn't mean to come off as a total bitch, just a partial one I grew up loving the Marvel Universe, and this line is the best representation of the characters I love, that I've seen in a long time, so forgive me if I'm not ready to let go. I know just like everyone else in our heart of hearts that the day will come that the MU line ends, nothing lasts forever, all good things must come to an end ect ect... So maybe I hit you a little hard with my skepticism, and my hope that what you say isn't true, and for that I'm sorry. I can't promise we won't bump heads in the future, I'm opinionated and I speak my mind, it's who I am. So again Sorry for being a beez. Now for a couple honest questions, one, who would you suggest contacting to save the line? and two, will it really do any good this close to comic con and what ever announcement they're going to make? |
i think in a situation like this the best course of action one can take is to just buy as many MU's as one will allow themselves,let your money do the talking.and just ride out the rumour storm.

I'm just curious if you have more information than you're giving, SWP. I understand not wanting to reveal a source, but your statement seemed pretty vague. "It will end or end as we know it", something like that right? But that's so broad, a great many number of things could happen and you wouldn't have necessarily been wrong.
If your source is secure, why not be more forthright and less cryptic? Also, the context of your message is strange to me. It seems to me that anyone on these forums who would attempt to "make their voices heard" is already accounted for in the eyes of the giant corporation. The only reason the line would be cancelled is a lack of profit. Anyone who would address Hasbro with concerns are already customers and contribute to the revenue the company enjoys now, which if you are right, isn't enough. Only a wider base of consumers could increase profit, or less overhead cost. Neither of which could be influenced by existing consumers. By all means, feel free to satisfy my curiosity. My Inbox is empty. |
Let's stop standing on the side lines waiting for doom and do something and if someone figures out what then I'm all in lol

I think I'd hate it more if the line continued in a lesser capacity like if they suddenly decided to make it like the new spidey line, with crap for articulation
|
today I played with toys, thought about a few customs, had no luck at target, messed around with a custom magneto, and played with toys. my shelf looks great; there is superheroics and nefarious villainy. toys: they are awesome.
that is what I did today. |

I don't think the line is underperforming, it's constantly the most out of stock toy line in the aisle. Which means either it's selling like crazy, the distribution is just poor, or the retailer themselves are doing a bad job of getting the product on the shelves.
If anything, I'll bet on some kind of rebranding. Hasbro knows its bread and butter is collectors at this point, parents aren't gonna dish out the money for toys for their kids like they use to and the interest from kids is only going to diminish with the popularity of video games and social media, toys just won't be cool to most kids. To completely kill the line right now when it's seemingly more popular than ever just seems crazy. |
