Right? That's what I'm talkin' about. Plenty of time to appreciate the latter much later.

Just opened up most of my MU...

http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/5396/myxmen.jpg

I still need Colossus, Jubes and hopefully the 3 pack Rogue eventually does comes out. I can live without Professor X and Storm if I have to though.

Oh and yah... I am still suffering from "I got the Grey Beast, but really wish I had a Marvel Showdown Blue Beast instead" inadequacy syndrome. LOL.

PROVOST 06-25-2012 12:40 AM

@ MeLikeJinx: Excellent stuff!

I received Silver Surfer today to add to my collection.

this thread can now go back to APPRECIATING.

Isn't the reaction to this "news" which may or may not be true, one of the highest forms of APPRECIATION? Doesn't the collective outrage of the fans show how much we APPRECIATE MU?

Goddammit...I'm going to be so pissed if this line gets shit-canned before I get my MU Domino and MU Fantomex. I'd really like to complete my X Force, please Hasbro? I mean considering it is one of the only Marvel titles I give a damn about?

Pros From Dover 06-25-2012 02:25 AM

My two cents:

GI Joe fans have been screaming "death of the line!" as far back as Valor vs. Venom toys. Then came DTC, then came 25th ann, then came ROC, then came POC, then came 30th, then came Retaliation and dollar store figures.

If you boil all the semantics away and stop splitting hairs, they still keep making Joe toys. With as many movies as Marvel has planned, there has GOT to be toy lines to go with them. We'll continue to get Marvel figure. Oh sure, they might not be the figures that YOU want, but so it goes. I have a list as long as my....well...it's long...of the figures I want too.

At this point, between Hasbro canceling stuff, their lousy distribution and scalpers, I am seriously considering dropping all of my Star Wars, GI Joe and Marvel collecting except for Iron Man stuff. That makes me sad.

And as far as Hisstank making fun of this thread. That made me laugh.

I just want to know, one way or the other. If they're gonna kill the line, do it. But don't keep teasing us with pics of figures they're never gonna make. Shit or get off the pot...

I totally agree with this, i also collect joes and been over reading Hisstank articles and when news that the new movie is pushed back as well as the toys...well, the reactions were serious, some were funny to read at times...it's not really that different here when "an end of MU" story comes around..

Until there is an official official announcement then i'll be collecting MU till it's prolly done...

sure, they have still made Joe toys over the years. But there is no way that anybody can say that hasbro has done a good job with the line(s) or even TRIED to. The Joe stuff over the past 10 years has been an embarrassment of Hasbro not knowing what to do to make a good toy, and then screwing it up when they finally do.

Hasbro might not be done with making Marvel toys in this scale, but if it's going to be anything like GiJoe over the past 5 years, then that is nothing to be happy about

and fuck Hisstank

Seriously guys? Posting ten pages in one night? This has been one of the lowest moments in this sites history. Howevor, since MU is really the only toyline my wallet is balls deep into, my glass will stay half full instead of empty like the debbie downers. Without MU I WILL HAVE NOTHING TO COLLECT.

Jimmyo 06-25-2012 06:01 AM

This might seem like a stupid question but I will ask it anyway to get the Ark thinktank rebooted.

Are there definitive versions of figures, by which I mean 1 spiderman which is better than any other spidey or say Cap. where he has multi release figures would there be 1 that would be considered the definitive one or would it really be down to individual tastes?

I ask because I am looking to blitz this line for my daughter and whilst she has her favorite characters I don't want to throw too much money at multiple figures of the same character (she collects JLU and SHS so we have double digit GL's and cap/wolvie)

Also Would the best way to buy unboxed figures in bulk be to put an ad in the wanted section or the B/S/T?

Alot of the characters with multiple figures have costumes from different eras from comics. Personally I go by that. Some people go by articulation, thats why alot of people here go by the Showdown figs. Which character are you looking for in terms of definite?

^This exactly.

All this "Deth of teh MU lien" is stupid. Hasbro makes toys. Marvel toys sell. The 4" line moves a lot quicker than the crap ass expensive ML line. So what they change the packages- they'll be the same figures with I'm sure the same style (re-used) molds. So what we don't know what the next 30 figs are after the 30 unreleased ones we know about? It's amazing we still get this many figs a year in a time when money's tight and non-electric toys are on the decline.

I hope the guy that announced through his "trusted source" isn't a betting man.

There are a few threads that have discussed this, but I will make some suggestions based on those recommendations:
Spider-Man: The SDCC Movie Spider-Man is thought to be the best. The Captain Britain Comic Pack is also very articulated and might be a cheaper alternative. The recent movie super articulated figure is fine if you don't mind the movie redeco.

Captain America: This is one that gets down to the details - do you want a taller Cap or a stockier figure? Does he need the wings on his helmet? The CA movie figures tend to be shorter but bigger. The MU figures were taller and skinnier.

Also, look up the Legends Showdown figures on ebay and Amazon as they have some of the best options for many figures (definitely not for Captain America, though!). Showdown has the best Doc Ock, a very nice Spider-Man (particularly the Venom suit), a great Green Goblin, the best the Thing, an awesome Moleman, a great Ghost Rider, easily the best Beast (Gray or Blue), as well as nice (but maybe not the best) Daredevil, Juggernaut and Thor. Also, the Magneto is often used with a headswap with the MU Magneto.

In general, the more recent a figure, the better the rendition. There are LOTS of arguments about which Hulk is the best - the most recent is very nice, but the TRU light up Hulk is incredible. Often the SDCC versions of figures tend to be very nice and of high quality. There are so many different versions of Wolverine it is hard to say which one to go with - most think the recent Astonishing Wolverine is the best, but there are arguments for the Showdown Wolverine and others.

Remember too that Hasbro has an agreement with Disney to produce toys. None of us have any idea what that license entails but I'm sure the gist is you make toys and give us a percentage of the sales. If Hasbro stops making a line, they could be breaking the contract. So at least at some level, Hasbro will have to honor the agreement until the end of the license. There is a lot at stake for Hasbro to tick off Disney - the fact that Disney carries Hasbro toys in their stores well beyond what Disney licenses to Hasbro should carry some weight.

Also remember that it wasn't long ago that Hasbro was bemoaning the failure of the Legends line. It was even assumed that this would be ending soon. If Legends continues but it faltering and MU ends but is doing well, then there has to be more going on at Hasbro than we can begin to understand.

I don't buy that GI Joe or TFs is going anywhere as that is pure profit for Hasbro. And Star Wars is their cash cow. So what "big changes" are left? My Little Pony?

What part of protecting sources don't you get?

You can "out" your source because your source was canned by the company.

I'm sorry I can't and I won't. I have a professional relationship with these people and I'm not going to throw them under the bus because you trot out a terminated Hasbro employee.

I would protect you and your information. I don't understand why you don't respect that.

That being said, since Vonner is no longer an employee and he shared "new product info." there honestly is NO reason at all for you to NOT share that with the group. Other than fearing that David Vonner may unfriend me on Facebook.

Me too. I think that's part of the issue. I think many of you think I want the line to die. I don't. If they can improve it relaunch it, I'd be thrilled. But not like VM stated in any way shape or form like the Spidey line.

The dude who started this from Cooltoy was Dan Curto's partner. They have sources at Hasbro. If they make a comment about the future not looking good, that strikes a chord with me and gets my investigative juices flowing.

All I did was report back here, albeit in a potentially flippant manner, that the outlook is dim.

Sorry for the shit storm.

I've left enough bread crumbs on this site alone, that if you did exactly what you are describing in you post above, you'd have an answer to your question and reason to put a little but more weight into my statements than you otherwise might.

I am a journist. I have worked for CNN. I can't disclose where I work now. You know why? Because it could put my contacts and sources at risk.

Peoples livelihoods are at stake here, even tho it's only a toy business, but I don't want to jeopardize these people's lives to satisfy your curiosity. I wish I could be more transparent.
