@Triv and Boy Blunder
Former radio guy here too. College days and pro for a while until I learned just how terrible the pay is. Forget affording Legends, I could barely afford food.

Hrm, I need to go find a solo Adam Warlock pre-order. Even as a big Guardians fan I have little interest in most of the wave.

Weapon X 05-10-2017 02:45 PM

Hasbro is really being quite generous by still sending out Exclusive Groots.

Still have not seen any. Doubt my area will see them, thanks to scalpers. :(

It's actual tooling this time around.

Exodus 05-10-2017 04:01 PM

I don't collect the 12 inch line but I found Deadpool if anyone wants him hit me up. It'll be 50 including shipping.

Thanks, that's good to know. It's such a small and seemingly easy detail to neglect. That makes Tombstone a semi-unique mold, for now. It bothers me that canon/comic versions of characters don't get the TLC that MCU figs do. I hope Hasbro can figure out a way to carry some of that detail over to more comic characters.

I think it depends on the wave; some movie figs get a lot of TLC and some do not. The Captain America figures sure haven't.

Old man Logan is a great example of a comic figure with actual unique sculpting, which is all the more surprising since the only way they'll get to re-use most of it is if they just do a young Logan. More like him would be welcome (more detailed comic figure molds that is and not just more Wolverines).

I also feel like the Dr Strange MCU figures weren't as well done as some of the other MCU figures.

TheBlueMarvel 05-10-2017 05:29 PM

@X

I suppose you're right. We've seen so many MCU Caps, Caps in general, that I can't really tell you when I stopped paying attention to figs of the character. I sold most of my MCU figs and all of those Caps, so I can't even go and look for myself. I get that MCU's have to receive unique tooling to approximate film designs. I just want more detail to distinguish some of these comic molds from one another.

Edit:

True, I'd forgotten about Logan. While he's likely to remain a unique sculpt given his stature, maybe elements (or the entirety) of his torso could be used for someone else.

I've heard that some people have used his parts along with the Jim Lee Cyclops figure to give Scott his stylin' leather jacket. I'd imagine Hasbro could do something similar with careful parts reuse.

Yeah, I saw one of those customs. I think it's a little too stocky for Slim. Speaking of which, Scott is tall and lanky - hence the nickname of "Slim." Would it be too much to make a tall and gaunt athletic build? There are plenty of other characters that could utilize the mold.

Could use it for pete wisdom with longer legs.

Wasn't his look more of a secret service agent or MI6 operative? I'd certainly like to see a Pete figure.

Yah it was but they could do it as kinda a bedraggled version where his button up shirt is slight opened and his tie isnt tight and kinda loose.

I agree. I felt the recent Cyclops was too bulky.

It should be a happy medium between Toy Biz's and Hasbro's molds.

Yeah, maybe they just used the Jim Lee 4 page cover spread as their reference.

Weapon X 05-10-2017 06:34 PM

What is everyone's favorite figure of the year so far?

I think mine is Titus Wave Star Lord.

I came close to doing this as I have run into Old Man Logan a few times, but my issue always comes back to the fact that you have to crack open the both figures, something I've always been either hit or miss with in the past. The results usually look pretty good once you get those arms swapped out, as one can just look at the additional bulk in them as Scott having an ill fitted coat.

Mine has to be Ultimate Vulture, hands down. He completely caught me off guard by how well he came out, as since I have the Fearsome Foes version, I really did feel like I had no need for him. I love the newly sculpted details, the alternate "vulture" helmet, and the sheer wingspan he's sporting. Some good color plastic choices help him really pop as well.

Weapon X 05-10-2017 06:51 PM

I think my second choice would be Deadpool due to the semi-realism of the costume, and the sheer amount of accessories. You get a lot of bang for your buck.

EDIT: Just remembered the TRU Groot. That's up there too.

Wasn't Deadpool last year?

Tough question for me.

Cyclops is my favorite for now simply because it's Cyclops and he fills a HUGE hole in my Legends collection.

Objectively speaking? Probably Angela.

Moon Knight will probably take the #1 spot once I get him though.

For me its a tie between Green Goblin and Symbiote Spiderman, whom i didnt think Id care for as much since i had the rhulk wave one but it ended being my default version, especially since i can swap an unmasked head on him. :)

Hey we actually have a limited amount of cases in stock now, if you want to drive down to our warehouse. I can hold one of them for you just LMK.

We have more scheduled to arrive Friday.

Angela, thus far. But I don't own Colossus, yet. Death's Head II (I remarked about its potential at the NYC con reveal), Ulik, Monica, and Adam also haven't come out yet, so the jury's still out.

...also, I suspect I'm really going to like that Cyclops/Dark Phoenix set.
