is it wrong that as a 3.75" collector i am actually more excited for upcoming legends and select releases???
also who reps the MU community at these toyshows???

Il Cattivo 02-26-2017 03:50 AM

or just get that old toybiz one from the 90s. only downside is he's not super articulated.

I think Mestro scales just fine.. but then again I've never been a stickler for these things since they are drawn all over the board in the books.

Yes Jackieboy, it is wrong (I kid I kid just a joke just a joke)
Also I've seen the crew at Marvelous news, Shartimus Prime, and another youtube reviewer... shaved head... forget his name... and random people in the crowd..anyways they all have routinely grilled Dwight Stall on WTF has happened to the 3.75" line and they routinely get some BS answer comparable to a Sean Spicer press conference.
I have not watched the toyfair 2017 videos yet.. but when they ask Stall about this stuff he usually puts out something like "uh... you'll have to ask the marketing department.. uh... cost balances vs ratio profit sensitive price point... uh... yeah so there you go LET'S TALK ABOUT THE 6" REAL STUFF THAT'S WAY BETTER!" It always just looks like complete spin to me and the guy looks like he is in pain when answering the 3.75" questions. It's like when they ask a sports coach about a game after a loss or something lol

ukmu 02-26-2017 12:01 PM

So true... and the above youtubers you mentioned are admitted 6" collectors and "pretty much ignore" our 3.75" scale. No one is EVER there to ask our questions. No one is representing our causes. We need a champion.

I mean some ask some random generic,"when will articulation return" type bullshit and Stall just regurgitates his same old answers. I use the word answer loosely, as he passes the buck or talks in a circle like a politician. I fear we are truly alone my friends.

bmorr 02-26-2017 12:01 PM

thanks for the heads up kernal and exodus! I picked up moon knight, spiderman uk, and maestro. left the others. they are 12.99 right now. very lame/sad that chinabay is still charging more.

ReIssue 02-26-2017 12:31 PM

Finished a makeshift Mordo!
And the Matvel Select Dios work great in our scale!
The avengers compound from the civil war figures look great with my MCU Avengers!

Add joints by whatever method you chose (several options and step by step guides on figurerealm) drill hole for the tail. Then a bit of apoxisculpt (or similar two part clay) for his wee little trouser cuff rolled up look and the "red thing" stripe on the uniform chest. Paint cuffs blue, paint stripe red.... fully articulated Rocket Racoon in matching team colours scheme.

Those can work too (ukmu's tutorial might be a little too daunting if youre a beginner customizer) Heres something I made many moons ago which is simple.

I would be that champion, but even if I had the travel access, I don't think I'd be given access to Toy Fair, and even if I did, I would probably be kicked out for "harassment" simply for wanting a straight answer.

But if I fulfill my dream and become a toy designer, though...

we really needed a voice at these gigs or some way of getting our ideas for future figures to the creative department at hasbro.i still want a bruce banner, wilson fisk and classic beyonder!!!!

Well.... I have a solution. Everyone can Paypal me the dough along with some questions and I'll head down to SDCC and grill him! In fairness I would do what I typically do at work when I get a BS answer, ask the question once or twice, and dissent once or twice in a polite manner (which even still can blow up in my face during meetings). Yes you are right, I still pick up an occasional 6" figure that I deem "compatible" with my MU collection. Perhaps we could get some of the moderators on here to champion our cause. Heck now that David Vonner is at Mattel maybe we can build some great DC counterparts.

Jay West 02-26-2017 03:39 PM

I was excited to see that one of my Targets 2 peg warming Marvel Infintes Beasts had sold during the $6.49 sale. But today to my dismay I see he is back along with a Sandman on a taped up card. These 3 Marvel Infinite figures are obviously keeping any new product from appearing. 3.75 has one peg and I imagine 3 figures are enough to keep the system from ordering more product. These guys are on just destroyed beaten up cards because they have been at the store for so long. I can't imagine they will ever sell for $12.99. So stupid. There's probably 7-8 pegs of 6 inch Legends figures and 7-8 pegs of the Avengers/Spidey/GotG kids lines if you add them all up. So stupid and sad.

Kernel 02-26-2017 03:51 PM

Here's a video from last years toy fair (I think). This one actually isn't too bad but seems like a typical response:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pCFnkDmrZuQ

Like i said someone seems to ask every SDCC or toyfair and this is a typical response.

To be fair,i dont think the 6" collectors are under any obligation to champion our line, they were years into their line when the 3.75" got a revival through dave vonner i think what annoyed a bunch of those guys was the fact the MU line was getting a ton of characters yet to be released in their scale and on top of that we got characters that were better in our scale>>>one example being adam warlock.some years stall is on fire wowing shartimus and co with upcoming releases and news, other years he just is not there in terms of info.and like i said before vonner said himself that he put enough work on their laps to keep the line going through the current contract which runs out at some point this year from what ive heard.sdcc17 will be a clear indication of wether or not marvel and hasbro continue the line or solely focus on 6" and other outlets such as mashers and the diamond select line.lets hope the distribution of the upcoming waves are good and not farcical like previous waves.
but the elephant in the room is SALES and this line has been a headache for stall and co for the past 5 years.

The Mods here do enough good work as it is,we dont want to increase their workload :) hell if i had email addresses id shoot some pm's to them ask a few well rounded questions,at least they wont be under pressure having several cameras shoved in their faces to give me a response.
cool news dave is at mattel now.we may even get a he-man 3.75" universe line, hooray lots of great characters you could use with your marvel universe, especially with characters like thor and hercules!

If it were that big of a headache they would have cancelled the line already. They still make a profit on 3.75" figures, therefore they still sell them.

I passed on lady Deadpool and spidey U.K. as the paint was very bad and they both had some serious derp.
Can't wait to crack open these new guys, I can't believe I'm actually excited to open another iron man, especially this anorexic variant... or is it GONAD iron man... ANAD iron man I meant.

Tell me about it! I was surprised as well to see the new wave and on sale!! I almost thought I was dreaming.

Yeah the Marvel stuff so weird it seems like, even the 6 X-Men legends aren't even pre order able on BBTS yet Targets getting them already.

I picked up an extra X-23 Wolverine unfortunately it's at the normal price of 10.49, does anyone want it? PM if interested if not I'll return it.

ukmu 02-26-2017 11:58 PM

In that video Stall says, "a mix of full articulation and modern articulation." Then regurgatates his cost rant.
To me, that sure sounds like a cop out. Heres why...
3.75" retail now for 13 yeah, and at a 20 price point for 6" (35% more retail cost) you get 35% more figure height/size/bulk/scale. Should stop there if it is "cost" and all is even...

So those price points are the same mathmaticaly (retail cost to figure size ratio) and here is what a 6" collector expects to get:full display window box that is resealable. Extra heads or hands often. Weapons and accessories. Often a small character specific prop as well. Plus a BAF piece to entice and reward. All that at 23 points of articulation.

We get for the same retail percentage: crap blister cards, no weapons, no heads, no hands, no BAF and the "modern" articulation of 11 points??

Same size percentage equal to same retail price point. Twice, literally twice the articulation points,a window box, accessories, hands, weapons, BAF... Come on Mr. Stall, something isnt right with that. And math never lies-but you do.

You really believe they make a profit on 3.75"???ROFL!!!
the only people profiting are people taking advantage of the crap distribution Hasbro has been known for!!! maybe your living in denial regarding this issue but go back through this thread and the old one and there are tons of posts complaining about pricing.
the reason they are still being sold is because of contractual obligations between hasbro and marvel.
edit.
plus also given the fact that Dave vonner churned out enough body of work to see them through that contract.i think we may be seeing the last of his work in these upcoming waves.

What contractional obligations? Marvel seems to care less about this line right now as well.

Plus, why would you sell figures that don't make a profit?

I disagree. Hasbro is profiting. The people losing money are the stores having to discount these figures to get rid of excess because of the crap distribution, which makes the distribution worse compounding the problem.

CCC.
