That figure is awesome. Definitely going to replace by TB panther.

Weapon X 05-24-2017 08:50 PM

It's kinda strange how the movie BP was missing the beard.

Tomax 05-24-2017 09:46 PM

Because he doesn't wear a cape in the movies.

Tomax 05-24-2017 10:25 PM

i know that but does he wear it in the comics?

Sometimes. Still, if he didn't wear it in the movie (he didn't), a figure of the movie version of the character is not going to have a cape.

Tomax 05-24-2017 11:40 PM

he looks better without it

...You can take it off.

En Sabah Nerd 05-25-2017 12:41 AM

At this point it's rarer for BP to have a cape in the comics. Ditching the cape helps separate him from Batman visually and personally I prefer him without a cape as it helps make him more catlike.

For any Marvel Legends UK Collectors looking for that Groot 3 set go here now.

Intergalactic cat monarchs wear capes...and laser monocles.

Jaga and lion o didnt! :p neither did catman.

hasbroherofan 05-25-2017 07:17 AM

A character known for agility and acrobatics shouldn't really have a cape anyway. It's why the bodysuit look for characters like Nightwing and Daredevil is so fitting.

True I agree with whoever said they dropped the cape to make him look less like batman. Because with a cape he looks too much like a Batman knockoff character I think he Looks so much better without a meaningless Cape.

Thank. You. :bow

...I've said this for years. Fight a semi-super fast, semi-super strong, and/or semi-martial master enemy and it's a recipe for death. Add the stereotypical stiletto heels that male "creatives" like to give women...and you may as well throw a toe-tag on that street level heroine design.

hasbroherofan 05-25-2017 07:36 AM

I'm just imagining an agile acrobatic hero leaping and flipping through the skyline, only to break their neck when their cape gets stuck on a flagpole or fire escape.

Ha, I know what you mean about those stupid high heels, that's a stupid design or decision because first off how the hell would they be able to run and they would more likely break their own necks then be able to do shit. I could never understand their reasoning behind adding that maybe they were thinking sex sells or some shit.

Well the cape worked for jack the ripper...... ;)

Captain Nash 05-25-2017 08:17 AM

This conversation is hilarious! For female figures it's definitely the idea that sex sells. Look no further than Psylocke with her thong-kini. While the costume does not get in the way of her fighting (as there is very little costume) it provides practically zero protection, unless someone were to boob punch her. (this also applies to Elektra). Then you've got the characters with trench coats that were added to look "mysterious"...Gambit I'm looking at you. Really though with the capes, why do so many heroes have capes anyways. I understand if they are doing it for a regal/royal reasoning - Thor and Black Knight it makes sense, and I guess that's why it matches for Black Panther as well. It's not functional in a fight but it adds an air of royalty.

Though I do like the idea of T'Challa wearing a cape when not doing his acrobatic-hero thing, and then takes it off like a boxing/wrestling robe before a match. Adds a certain amount of regal class to him.

Captain Nash 05-25-2017 09:07 AM

I'm surprised Namor with his ego never wore a cape.

I have yet to see an Olympic gymnast perform a routine with a cape. I have seen some wire-fu flics where very potent, super-human kung-fu guys flip and tumble with capes on. However, heavy editing is used and it's dramatized for effect, as if to say, "yeah, I'm THAT badass."

It's totally for the sex-appeal...and for adolescents who have little knowledge or experience of what is or isn't sexy.

I've no problem with powerhouse characters wearing capes; provided that their abilities are significant enough to nullify vulnerabilities like neck-snaps and being slung around like a sack of potatoes. Regal types, like BP, are also ok as long as they don't engage in serious/pitched combat while wearing their cape. Back in the day, Panther wore a half/mini cape, like Captain Marvel (Shazam). Best of both worlds...

Pffft! The Scion of the Seas! The majestic and mighty Sub-Mariner needs no cape to achieve regality!

...hell, he doesn't even need clothes half the time!

I have had at least 6 of the Vulture 2 Pack sitting on the shelf of my closest Wal-Mart for going on 3 weeks now. They are not selling at all. Still no sign of the Panther at all. HEll it took 3 days before someone bought the Cyclops and Colussus figures from the case of X-men that came it.
