Got a chance to check a few local wal-marts today, and not a hint of the latest Spidey wave. Tombstone will continue to allude me for another day.

With Hasbro pressed so tightly to the vein of the Spider-verse storyline, I wonder if they will do the same for the upcoming Venomverse?

Is the new wave of Guardians Of The Galaxy showing up in stores yet? Will it be available at Target and Walmart?

I only like venom, don't like the other knock offs like carnage and anti-whatever. the best venom fig is Diamond select's by the way...

I because I always felt that he was at his best when Brock was stalking Peter. As a villain, he had charm and charisma, was slick and tricky, and felt passionate, and as a hero for the most part, he just kinda felt forced and cliche', and eventually he kinda faded off because the well had run dry. Then the thing with Flash Thompson cosplaying as Veno-sher happened and lone behold, here we go again. Thankfully it hasn't hit Deadpool levels yet, but I can imagine that once that first trailer for Sony's Venom drops, it'll be 1996 all over again...or worse...it'll be Harley or DP from last summer... For me, Brock is the most acceptable Venom. His hatred for Parker/Spidey was written well enough and coupled smartly with the demented/spurned/jilted lover that represents the symbiote's feelings for Peter, its first human host. However, that was then. As is common knowledge, Venom has since morphed, first into an Anti-hero, then later, transitioning into a full-blown hero. Personally, I think this move represents a mistake that Marvel often makes when a villainous character becomes far more popular than they'd anticipated (ie Doom - eventually in the Future Foundation, Magneto - multiple stints as the leader of the X-men, Thanos - Infinity War/Crusade, etc). As a reformed hero, Flash makes more sense than Brock. Spidey fans had already been treated to the reformation of Flash; from bully of Petey in HS to buddy in college. He sorta fits a reformed Venom role, as a result. So from that perspective, I feel what you're saying. The only caveat I would offer is that while that's fine for Flash, it chafes for Brock. All that shared. my preference for Venom is for him to be evil. That may be why I was one of the few in my circle of friends to like the Scorpion Venom. It was clumsy and flawed, but at least he represented a Venom I was more familiar (and comfortable) with...crazy, tormented, and hateful. Villains are sometimes popular. Marvel understood this at one point. I've read and own many old Silver Age comics that featured villains in stand alone stories. Stories just about Doom doing F'ed up shit. Team-ups between villains; most notably, Namor and Doom. If Marvel's going to make an anti-hero Venom, he should at least skew toward malevolent. Bare minimum? Neutral/Evil. |

I never liked the ML Venom from the Spider Gwen wave... the headsculpt was nice, but I always thought Venom should be huge... not like Hulk huge, but almost.

See you guys haven't seen what im thinking of. while yes there is only 1 venom, which i feel is Brock. there have been numerous others that i think are just wild looking characters that have kind of blown up. here are a few examples. keep in mind these aren't all venom. these will be different versions of characters with a symbiote, not the venom symbiote specifically.
some would be a definite hot seller, while like other figures that are released in other waves. they will probabaly be pegwarming... |

Eddie Brock Venom for me. The rest is just overkill IMO. Same goes for all the other Spider related characters. Just Peter Parker Spiderman for me as well. Marvel is just milking the Spider-verse cash cow for all it's worth & the sad thing is there are suckers that demand more. "Spider-Gwen"? WTF!
|
^ That's pretty much how I feel except I would add 3 more... Symbiote/Black Suit Spidey, Mary Jane & Black Cat... and yah... Eddie Brock Venom and regular red & blue Spidey... so 5 for me.
