Awesome! I love my little NES, I'm surprised Nintendo is canceling them.

Congrats on the find. I'm not a big video gamer but this is the one system I actually wanted. Guess that's why they're cancelling it. :(

Well I bit the bullet and finally got my first Japanese company figure. I generally stay away from the likes of Figuarts and Mafex because while their products are good they are also expensive for their size. I decided to finally get Figma's Pyramid Head figure because it seems pretty obvious no one else is even going to look at Silent Hill merchandise.

First I'll share some thoughts on the box even though it's not pictured (too much glare to get a good shot). Physically it's nice and sturdy and I like the black and maroon color scheme but why is he called "red pyramid thing?" James calls him that a total one time as where multiple item descriptions in-game refer to him as Pyramid Head. Given the amount of empty space on the front of the box they should have enlarged the Silent Hill 2 logo to fill things out.

Right, onto the figure itself. I really like it and not just because my choices were this or nothing. Well built, well sculpted, well painted, and well articulated. I typically don't like the way Figma's joints look on other figures but being a monster does give Pyramid Head a pass. My only actual complaint about the look of the toy is that he should be paler to match SH2 but they still capture his sickly look anyway. His weapons are great and his alternate hands really encourage finding different ways to display him. Not sure why he has fists though, not really something he ever did. He has an alternate neck to display him as he impaled himself but why would I want to display him defeated when he can be so much more?

As my first Japanese toy I still think I had to pay too much but I can't deny the quality of the figure itself. If I didn't already know he was in the ever-weird 5.5" scale I'd be upset as a proper 7" scale Pyramid Head would've been my ideal size but as an independent piece in my collection he'll be fine.

Pyramid Head is one awesome Figma. It's too bad they will never release any of the human characters to Silent Hill.

whats underneath?

Weapon X 04-19-2017 04:18 PM

I'm not really into Silent Hill, but that is one good looking figure.

I too am curious if there is anything underneath, but I think it's probably nothing since he never takes it off in the games. As far as I know. I have never played any.

Well for the figure the only thing under the pyramid is his neck and a fairly nasty looking flesh membrane which you can see some of squeezing out of the back. In Silent Hill 2 he never removes it so I've always figured that it just is his head. He is an evil tormentor demon thing which embodies all of the main character's fears and frustrations so it's not out of the question. The flesh membrane then is either a grotesque display of muscle needed to move such a head or maybe if there is something under the pyramid then it could be a safety bladder (made of flesh to be gross) to assist in wearing the helmet. There is this thing he can do in the game where an "appendage" emerges from that hole in the front which may be indicative of what's underneath but then since he is a monster this could mean anything. In Silent Hill: Homecoming Pyramid Head returns bearing his movie design and is called the "bogeyman" by the children. In Homecoming's true bad ending (for the player being a total jerk) the main character is turned into a Pyramid Head where we see two other "bogeyman" monsters encase his head within two halves of the pyramid with both being filled with spikes on the inside, like an iron maiden exclusively for the head. However since the town of Silent Hill reacts and creates its monsters based on each character this doesn't mean that the Pyramid Head(s) from SH2 share that trait.

you lucked out with that. not sure you heard the news, they are apparently stopping production of them now. so whatever is out in the wild thats it.

Finally got this. Darkseid is bigger than I thought he would be for some reason. He's huge, and magnificent. Grail is incredible too, it's so odd having such incredible articulation on female figures it needs to become a standard thing.
I can see why people wished Darkseid came with thigh and bicep swivels but honestly you can get him into some fairly dramatic (if not dynamic) poses without them.

Not true. According to the articles, the last shipments will be at the end of this month, so they have not hit stores shelves yet. It takes time to get from overseas, then to retailers distribution centers, then to the stores shelves. Expect to see some popping up in the next month or two.

Even still it's probably very limited inventory, the CSR at TRU said they only received 6 themselves...so you know people who actually want them and scalpers will be trying to buy it asap. It's really too bad they didn't do a mass production on these things...I guess they wanted to see how it would sell.

Tbh, I have always wanted to play those games, but I could only do it with a friend. Too scary!

I only ever played the first few and Shattered Memories myself but youtube and the internet are great for catching up, helped me not play the crummy entries like Downpour. I was able to watch the rest of the games in their entirety with no commentary and I wouldn't hold it against anyone else who wanted to do the same. Even if you weren't too scared to play it yourself some of the games are hard to come by now so a full playthrough video serves as the next best experience given that the movies botched it.

You will very rarely ever hear me and give praise to Hasbro for this, but thank you for re-releasing this guy, as I was never able to find him during the initial run. You just saved me 80 bucks, and I no longer have to look into the gaping hole in my collection of Episode 4 characters.

The only downside, and it is a big one, is that R2 is still only one per case making him damn near impossible to grab in my area. They need to redistribute the set already but with 3 R2s per case, unless they are planning on redistributing him again for The Last Jedi.

Was so Happy these finally came in. I reserved them at the first of the month then they shut off pre orders a few days later. My local store got 2 of the 3 that I pre ordered ( they are having the home office send them my third one) and I got my R2 as well I ordered.

Also saw my first sighting of new Transformers for the new movie at K-Mart of all places. Nothing I needed but I like the new box set up.
