X-Men First Class and Apocalypse really took steps in the right direction.

I also remember the changeover to that look in the comics, and how in Astonishing X-Men they switched back to more traditional looks, and Wolverine or cyclops or somebody commenting how the Leather look was freaking people out. Sorry to get us on this topic, I just watched the original X-Men trilogy yesterday for the first time in a few years so it's all fresh in my mind.

ALso, I went to a nearby walmart yesterday, they didn't have Homecoming endcaps but they had two web wing spider-man...manses...men? and a cosmic universe spiderman on the pegs themselves. I passed on all, as I online ordered the ones i wanted, but just was interesting to see.

Leather also stretches out as you wear it. Stephen Amell who plays Oliver Queen on Arrow once said that the show's costume department had to make 3-4 costumes per season for him because of this.

Hell, even in the X-films, we've seen them evolve away from the leather suits look and into more 'classic costume' designs (IE the outfits from 'Deadpool' and 'X-Men Apocalypse'). Sure, it took going through the 'motorcycle leathers' phase to get there, but I can guarantee that putting them all in shiny spandex would've resulted in a full stop by comparison.

Not to mention, spandex does nothing for protection in a realistic sense, and only really works as a costume element for runners and acrobatic characters. Anyone remember how often Spidey's costume used to get ripped up back in the old comics? Because that's what spandex does. Impractical in a fight, and impractical on film.

If you look at cosplayers at Comic Con, there are very few that wear spandex that actually look good. The majority of them just look cheap. The more successful cosplayers tend to mix realistic elements like body armor with the character's design from the comics.

The guy's Wolverine costume is just a repainted Arkham Origins Batman costume but it's still cooler than anything seen in the movies.

As someone who's done cosplays in the past, I can attest to this. I still have my old Nightwing costume, done using a spandex blend-type fabric (of course, I can't remember the exact name of the fabric), and it looks great as a representation of the comics costume, but it's definitely only for show - felt pretty underdressed the one time I wore it on the convention floor. Either way, it worked better than straight-up spandex, and looked a hell of a lot less 'cheap.' If anything, it looked very DCAU-esque.

Well this is super annoying. For some reason FedEx has handed my Mary Jane pack to the post office, so now instead of being delivered tomorrow as the date original said, they say it will be delivered by the end of the week. WTF? I'm not even going to be home for the entire week after tomorrow. Why would they give it to the post office to deliver instead of them like it originally stated?

See its simple folks. For the lower legs were they painted or did you use spider womans?

Most places that give free shipping through Fed Ex send it parcel post, meaning most of the time, Fed Ex will drop the package off with your local post office for the final delivery. Allows them to ship it cheaper.

Painted, her forearms and lower legs are from the Juggernaut wave Phoenix and the hands are from Scarlet Witch, so the only paint rub issue is at the ankle joint

They wore leather in the comics?

yes during Morrison's and Austens/Caseys runs on New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men respectively. Morrison's and Casey's runs are decent and were trying new things and I will leave that comment right there as it is. :D Believe me you don't want to get me started...

Dr Kain 06-05-2017 02:12 PM

Ugh, that X-Men run is absolutely atrocious.

Which is stupid. However, that doesn't excuse my post office though. There is no reason it should not have been here today when FedEx dropped it off to them today.

I don't disagree..but you have to admit I did refer him to the least garbage like of those runs.

Honestly Weapon X, for that era, 2001-2004, just check out X-Treme X-Men. Yes, it was Claremont starting to go off his game but comparatively...well, it's not Austen.

And that's enough comic talk for me, before I get yelled at :D

Weapon X 06-05-2017 02:19 PM

*yells*

;)

So did that happen before or after the first movie?

It was about a year after. Definitely designs inspired by the movie designs.

I can take a photo of that costume by itself, but I am glad beyond belief that I can't seem to find any photos of myself in it. It just magnifies some body image issues I had in the past :D and I doubt I can pull it on now - I've bulked up a lot since then, especially in my arms.

But I can totally take a photo of the costume itself later.

USPS gets packages from FedEx in bulk and they're plastic wrapped to a pallet. If FedEx drops that pallet off after the mail has been sorted, then the carriers aren't touching it until the next day. I've called my local post office and asked about picking up the package so that I didn't have to wait and always got a flat NO from them. Not sure why your tracking says that it'll be delivered at the end of the week when USPS already has it. If you don't get it tomorrow, you might call your local post office to see what the hold up is.

I like what Singer did on the last two movies, but I'm glad he's moving on.

Let's not forget that they wore latex in Ultimate X-Men, something that Spider-Man definitely made note of during his run ins with the teen X-ladies. VERY impractical...

Terrible. I remember watching that unreleased Captain America movie from the 90's with Matt Salinger and he had a latex cowl. Looked like the areas where his ears poked out the sides were going to rip in 5 seconds.
