So they arrived today:

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psmxsbamzo.jpg

Because my camera is packed away for our trip tomorrow I won't be able to do any pictures, but the MJ is kind of cool. Not sure why she has a fisted hand as I didn't think she was the fisting type, but other than that, no complaints. The paint job is outstanding. The Peter head sculpt is terrific, but it's a little big for the Spidey body. I wish I had another Chameleon body to put it on though. The Spider-Man itself is a lot better than I thought it would be despite having no attachment to that costume whatsoever. Still missing the webwings though (of course, I have no idea if that version even has them).

And then I just found these two at a Walmart farther out:

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psrl4uci8y.jpg

Tombstone is fantastic despite his legs coming frozen. The paint jobs is nice (the other one they had was horrible though) and I love his bulk. My only complaint is that they just put his boot and glove cuffs on him like they did with Cyclops, so they are loose. -_-

As for Beetle, other than mine having a quality control issue so I have to get a new one (his right arm is extremely loose), he is also phenomenal. The flourescent paint really pops and I love the metallic shine. He looks quite bad ass in nearly every pose I put him in. I just wish the arm wasn't loose. Thankfully when I have the wing out to the side it doesn't flop around due to the shoulder armor frictioning against the body, so at least I can have him in a cool pose while I wait for a better one.

Well, that takes care of most of my current Legends needs. Dark Phoenix/Cyclopse and Death's Head II are pretty much all I need now.

It's on the TRU Australia website, though you can't buy it online yet, so it's likely it's in stores already.

Lol ... time to ruffle a few feathers here :D ...

IMO, Herbie is like Deadpool in a lot of ways. Seriously. Not kidding here.

They were both originally garbage characters, and for years they both were treated as punchlines and were viewed as the embodiment of all that was wrong with their respective eras.
Then, they both received drastic reinterpretations from talented writers who deftly poked fun at their horrible origins and managed to somehow turn them into substantial characters.

Chris Eliopoulos' "Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius" one-shots are (lol, forgive me for this) fantastic.
They're a fun homage to classic comic strips like Peanuts and Calvin & Hobbes, and in those Franklin Richards comics, Herbie is such a great character !

The sooner, the better. I absolutely love that the 2-packs have made a return. Kinda revitalized the line a bit, by creating another outlet for figures that didn't make it in the retail waves.

Also, I'm so excited about the potential of the upcoming Thor:Ragnarok and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2-packs. Can't wait for those to be revealed!!

Nice haul man. Beetle looks great.....but the glare offa them pale legs kinda makes it hard to see. ;) heehee

I'm going to make a bet on the Thor pack. Thor and Loki. The only difference will be which Loki is the regular wave, MCU or comic, and the other will be in the 2 pack with it's Thor counterpart.

Nope. The only thing great about Herbie is finding a Robot Chicken Humping Robot to hump him in stop motion. Or having Hobgoblin blow that little ****er up with a pumpkin bomb. Or having Galactus step on him. Rocket taking him apart.

Y'all got some serious anger issues about HERBIE that need to be resolved, hombre. Like, it's almost worrying.

I believe it was stated at Toyfair that the 2-pack would be MCU and a Target exclusive. I could definitely see it being a Hiddleston/Hemsworth set. An updated MCU Loki is well deserved as the original did not have a great likeness.

That almost certainly seems to point to a Thor/Loki pack. Maybe the Loki in the wave will be a comic Loki. I'd like Hasbro to take a shot at both. Although, if one of the figures in the 2 pack ended up being Heimdall or Valkyrie, or Grandmaster even, I wouldn't complain in the least. Maybe it's just me but I feel like the second half of this year should predominantly be focused on Thor product, since it's his last go-round for a lot of product.

I agree about Heimdall and Valkyrie. Though, I'd prefer Heimdall's original Asgardian armor. The shots of him from Ragnarok make him look disheveled and not the iconic, stoic figure he is known for .Also, I've really come around to Valkyrie. I wasn't too impressed from her initial reveal, but the more I see of her from promotional materials the more I like.

I think Hasbro had the same idea. The A-force and SDCC Thor sets both look like they were planned to help supplement the Thor wave. Glad to see the Asgardian/mythology side of Marvel get some attention in Legends. It usually gets looked over compared to Avengers and Spidey.

Hemanguy 06-07-2017 12:15 PM

So just watched the original Fantastic Four film . Lol the special effects were cheesy but I thought it was a better film than the two big budget FF movies. You guys were right Doom is more Doom here than in either of the other movies. With a little story revision and better special effects this wouldn't be a half bad big budget movie, it was better than the other three FF films, I LOL at parts because it was funny, not intentionally funny. Like when Alicia tells Ben that she loves him for no apparent reason what so ever other than she touched his face in the beginning of the movie lol.

Its also a bit funny that the guy who plays human torch in the corman ff was also the tirular character in the film the boy who could fly.

This is my attempt of a who's, who in the Marvel Universe poster. I'm more of a movie figure collector, but I adore my comic figures. I decided to put the more "popular" figures on this shelf. Still missing Guardians of the Galaxy, Magneto, Storm, Gambit, The rest of the F4, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, and Falcon.

Just found a Sunfire, Dazzler, Shatterstar, and Polaris at my TRU out of the blue.

Picked up the Sunfire. Finally can connect the Warlock pieces I do have. Just need one more arm and leg. Man, it is looking badass.

At this point, I'm not even sure this is a procurement/retail "buyer" problem (not sure if that's the term - I know that in media, a "buyer" buys ad-spots within broadcasting time slots of commercial television - I think the vernacular is similar in retail - maybe not). The deeper into this 'exclusive collecting game' we get, the more I believe the problem lies squarely with Hasbro. There was a time when I often opined about what the incentive could be for short shipping certain figures within cases. Wouldn't Hasbro want to provide for the demand of a particular fig and move more units? Then it dawned on me that, outside of it's own website, Hasbro makes it's money not specifically from me (the collector), but from box stores buying large numbers of their product at wholesale to sell to customers at a bump-up. Short shipping hot-commodities like rare figs brings in foot traffic to (dying) retail spaces. Obviously, stores want to sell the fig, but more foot traffic means more sales of the other things we tend to buy when we go searching in Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc. Extrapolating this concept of 'cross-pollination' buying to 'exclusives' and specialty stores like TRU doesn't provide a direct correlation, but it does make sense on some levels. How many of us have gone to TRU to look for a Legends Exclusive, but left with a Neca (or other) fig to assuage our disappointment in not finding what we came for? In short, in my opinion, this process is one of meticulous and purposeful design. Retailers want these exclusives because they know we are desperate. We will search high and low. We will drive miles. We will come back multiple times in one week. And, most importantly, we will buy other things beside the toys we came in search of...

I am actually curious if the box stores buy the stock at all. I have been told in the past by a number of bigger box store managers that a lot of their stock is actually done as consignment. The store does not actually buy the items but just sells them at a specific price agreed on with the selling company and takes their percentage fee. I would be interested to know how true this is today. That would put nearly all of the blame on Hasbro's distribution rather than a store's buying practices.

Man, that photo really highlights how grossly out of scale that Thor figure really is. Still an awesome shot Panther!

Thanks @Kirathis. I promise I said the same thing when I took the pic. I just had to give my comic figures some love.

Nice shots man. I guess it depended on who drew thor at the time...when he had that outfit i recall him being a bit towering...plus the dude is a viking God. ;)

Huh. If that's true, then as you've stated, the onus shifts even more squarely onto the shoulders of Hasbro. Outside of the distribution problems, specifically as it pertains to consignment acquisitions: how do places like Walmart offer deep discount prices (as they did with the Space Venom and Abomination waves) if they are only receiving a fraction of the value and they're essentially selling items on behalf of Hasbro? I'm curious now as well...

@Snake5289

Thanks, glad you liked it!

Weapon X 06-08-2017 08:28 AM

I went to my TRU yesterday, and they had about 6 or 7 of the MJ two packs. Out of curiosity, I checked the paint on all of them. They all had derp eyes on the Parker head, just not as bad as the one I got. Sad.
