More outstanding work as usual sir! Very impressed

ukmu 05-19-2017 10:29 AM

Damn, Daniel.... back at it again with the white vans!

Look GREAT!
I agree the Yellowjacket Marvel Infinite one looks WAY better than he one from the Marvel Universe line.... it took me like 30 seconds to remember the first rebranding name. What was the point of that anyway?

Well it was to help clarify the eh... to help retailers differentiate between eh... to eh... eh... to cheapen the quality and increase the price? Isn't that what all the re-brandings have done?

Yeah, but they could've done that with the exact same name. To my understanding, a rebrand is to prevent pegwarmers from killing the line.

that doesn't help when they just repack the peg-warmers in a different packaging

Anything knew I should know about the last few months i haven't been on?

The MCU Spidey fig looks great, will give it a blackwash if I manage to get it, going to be hard I imagine. TRU exclusive? The shocker looks nice too but I don't like the Spiderman much especially after they tried to sell it as "best 3.75 spiderman ever!"

Feeling a bit hopeless about the future of the line. Even when there is a 6" figure I want(Well, pretty much just Kamala since she'd be in scale that way) I can't get it here and have to pay scalper prices. I don't have much money for collecting, and I don't have the energy for customs much anymore. I still need to repaint my America Chavez, she got pretty dinged up.

No exclusivity with the Spidey packs, fortunately. Also, Hasbro wasn't really selling it as the best 3.75 inch Spidey, it's collectors who have wanted a Spidey on this mold for years who advertised it that way.

A rebrand, in general but not exclusive to every situation, is a way of admitting defeat. The proverbial waving of the white flag.

Not sure if that was the case here. I truly believe HASBRO was playing the long game back then. They knew they were slowly going to kill the scale. It reminds me of "how to boil a frog." Governments do it all the time to take away liberties. Basically, if you drop a live frog in boiling water it will just jump right out. However, if you place the frog in water that is a comfortable temperature and slowly increased the temperature.... the frog will stay in for the duration and gets boiled voluntary.

The slowly raised the price by just a bit. Then gave us a HIGHLY anticipated figure in Bishop but with the new reduction in articulation. We accepted it as a one off and a decent trade for a coveted X-Men character. Then they did it again (rebrand) and. This time increased it more and the new less articulated bucks became the norm. Also they slowly decrease the plastic quality each year.

So, that is where we are now. Boiled frogs, all of us.

I dunno, the lesser articulated molds became the norm with 2015, when we were still in the Infinite series. I mean. let's face it, the 2015 figures sucked. However, with the Legends rebrand, they seem to have improved their game. Now, they can actually repaint the older molds, and most of the lesser articulated figures are pretty tolerable(Captain Marvel is a favorite of mine). Plus, some figures, like the Invincible Iron Man and Homecoming Spider-man have gotten more articulation back.

I wouldn't say that we're boiled quite yet.

I thought the blurb from this article was interesting:

"Now, if you’re a 3.75″ collector–the classic Star Wars scale–Hasbro has heard your dissatisfaction with the lack of articulation in the main line, and is bringing back the vintage collection, with full poseability. "

Fast forward to the 7:45 mark, there is a 3.75" collector that expresses our concerns.

I'd love to see a hela and mother friggin skurge! In a ragnarok line.
Also I agree JB, we need to be more vocal with hasbro. Sadly the response above is typical of what they give us (old video but like I said, that's the usual response).

I don't think the super articulated Star Wars line ever lost any poseability, though. 5 POA is kind of its own thing. I think this is just because 3.75 inch is the respected Star Wars scale due to it being the original one, whereas Marvel has kinda gone through a few main scales in its lifetime.

Ninjinister 05-20-2017 12:38 PM

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite lookin' pretty good

True but they were made a Walmart exclusive and were not carried by all Walmarts. Just quoting the article.

Wow mega man looks great. Is it articulated? Where can you buy em

ukmu 05-20-2017 02:55 PM

Doesn't seem like they are going all in for the SA line. Just a few dribbles here and there. Pretty sure we will see their hugely successful 5 poa Episode 8 line.

I check Taoboa several times a day...nothing yet.

That's less of a problem with Hasbro and more a problem with Wal-Mart, if you ask me.

It's likely that the SA Episode 8 figures will be part of the Vintage Collection relaunch early next year.

But we're getting a bit off topic.

The video above....

The 3.75" collector (even though he referred to the diaphragm/torso rocker - as an 'ab crunch') did ask a few good questions. Then Shartimus, an admitted non collector of our scale, stepped in.

Like Jackieboy has said many times, no one represents us. They were all clearly 6" guys with their major woes being of single jointed female elbows and non painted weapons. If only our problems were so shallow.

It was fun to watch them squirming when talking about the mother scale though. Clearly, they were not comfortable doing so. THANKS Kerns for dusting that one off from the vault. I need reminding sometimes of why I don't like that guy!

Very nice!

I am taking your advice and building and commissioning some high end customs. Trying to build a Guardians team from Allstar customizers. One from each of a handful of what I think are the best. I can't get many so I will focus on just one team and do it proper.

Also, I didn't get to mention it, but nice figures Mord and Mudd. I think I speak for everyone, but we appreciate them always. Love when I come and see new pics from the amazing Pilk, the fantastic works from everyone else.

I love the variety of skill shown too. From uber high end, to commission professional work, to someone's first attempts. It is encouraging. Thanks everyone.
