It's been at our local specialty toy shop, but no sign of it at standard retail yet.

I saw Gamora, Adam Warlock, and Rocket/Groot at Target yesterday. I received the wave from Dorkside over a month ago. Had no clue when to expect them in stores.

No sign of the Homecoming or 2nd Guardians wave out my way. Plenty of old crap I already own.

Found two Cosmic Spideys at one of the three Targets in my area today. Not what I was looking for, but at least it's evidence. The hunt for Moonie and Vulture continues.

You know he'll be a BAF.

Ahh, it looked so crappy that I just figured it was a movie version. So tiny too.

Do you think they would make Thanos a BAF again?

warmachine6 07-02-2017 06:35 AM

I think hasbro will make thanos a BAF, it gives them an opportunity to give him swap-hands i.e with and without the infinity gauntlet.
Technically he could be a single carded figure, but who else is there to fill that BAF slot ? Also need reasons to buy those avengers figures.
This going to be a very big film character wise , and we could see maybe 3-4 waves like AOU did , be cool if we got MCU villains that haven't been made yet, i.e red skull, crossbones, etc
wave wise if hasbro play it right maybe five waves e.g infinity war: the guardians of the galaxy wave etc

Jerseysteel 07-02-2017 07:29 AM

If they do Thanos again he will most likely be the same BAF as the old one, but with some slight changes to make it more movie like. The best Thanos would be a Marvel Select version

Shudders at the thought of 3 to 4 waves for Infinity War, and the endless amount of repaints and store exclusives it will bring...

Unlikely. Hasbro usually has dedicated sculpts for MCU figures. They'll reuse movie parts for comic figs but I don't think they've reused comic figures for movie ones yet.

Even Hela, probably one of the closest comic to screen transitions we've seen thus far, got a brand new sculpt.

If Hasbro is lucky most of the characters won't have brand new costumes or will have suits that could work as easy repaints. Doctor Strange and Star-Lord look to be wearing virtually the same thing, and it sounds like Spider-Man will still have the Homecoming suit.

Hasbro will be lucky. We as collectors will not be...

Looks like a few of them will have updated costumes, but Hasbro will not miss the opportunity to take advantage of the biggest comic book movie event film of all time. This collector will be happy as ever to see what they have planned.

My fingers are crossed for this to happen. It would be much cheaper than buying an entire wave of toys I might not want and it would be a one-and-done thing, plus the Select sculpt and paint would likely be stronger.

hasbroherofan 07-02-2017 01:37 PM

I hope we get a Select but not getting my hopes up. I think the last time they actually did a movie villain was Lizard in Amazing Spider-Man back in 2012.

My local grocery store got the new Spider-Man wave in last week but someone or someones already bought Moon Knight, homemade Spidey, and cosmic Spidey. Last night hen I was grocery shopping the remaining figures were already placed an sale with $5 off so I scooped up Vulture, movie Spidey, and Beetle.

I'll start with my thoughts on Beetle, of the three I think he's the sleeper hit. I wasn't sure I wanted him much when I put him in my cart but I didn't want to pass on the sale price. In hand I like this figure a lot more than I thought I would when looking at it in box. The colors are really nice aside from a few small spots of paint scratching around the forearms and mine doesn't have the shoulder issue that I've read others have experienced. Whether he's used as a filler villain or a Thunderbolt I think it's just a solid figure and I'm a sucker for the green and purple color scheme.

Vulture is a very cool looking bad guy for Homecoming in my opinion. I know not everybody likes what they did with him but I think it's a cool way to bring him to the big screen. The paint work on the figure is clean on mine and while the colors are generally muted there is still some personality to it. The sculpt is another strong entry for Hasbro's MCU figures and all of the articulation works well. My only cons would be that he has no weapon accessories or a Michael Keaton head and that then of course he has no wings on his own. I'm thinking I might give him the repainted Destroyer gun from the EE GotG set since that looks weird and alien enough to fill in for that thing he has in the trailers. It's also nice to finally get another movie villain figure from anybody, neither Hasbro nor DST have done any in a good long while.

Spider-Man is neat but I personally had to put in a lot of effort to get everything working. A lot of his joints were totally stuck out of the box, mostly in his left arm. I had to heat up and entirely remove his bicep just to get in unstuck and moving. His left shoulder butterfly joint and his left bicep were also entirely stuck but thankfully I didn't have to remove those to get them moving. The lower hinge then on his left elbow is still entirely frozen stuck and even when I heat it to get at it all I start to do is bend the upper part too much so I have to stop. Sculpt and articulation wise this is a great Spidey figure but then paint QC doesn't seem to be very high on Hasbro's list. The alternate head has a decent amount of white paint going over the lines on its left eye and then just across the figure here and there small amounts of blue or black end up where they shouldn't be. The web wings are done nice enough but they only work with certain poses (still better to have them I suppose) and then he only has two pairs of hands which is a drop from previous releases. Overall I really do like this figure and the costume design but I should not have had to do all that I did to get it in workable conditions, kids could get these figures and if one had gotten the figure I had they definitely would've broken it trying to move anything on the figure's left side.

So now I have a decent amount of Vulture's wings put together and I'm only missing the 3 parts. Only problem is I really don't want the other three figures in this wave but I do really want to finish Vulture's wings. If anybody has the parts that come with Tombstone, Captain Universe Spidey, and Homemade Spidey I'd definitely be open to make a deal for them. If anybody's interested in that you can PM me.

Yeah, especially since it's the movie version and has been awaited since 2012.

Heck, I can see them doing a movie-based BAF Thanos, and a classic Infinity Gauntlet-Starlin Thanos in the near future.

I have a question for anyone who can help.

I finally broke down and bought the series 3 Magneto from Toybiz. I have a healthy X-Men collection, but I'm missing a few key players (Professor X, Nightcrawler, Beast, Omega Red, Classic Colossus, Mystique, Mr. Sinister, Toad, Pyro, and the Blob). Should I hold off to see what announcements are made for next year, or are these figures worth purchasing now?

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Toad was pretty crappy articulation wise, Mystique look great, but mine suffers from soft bowing legs. Professor X is a good figure, although I'd prefer he was in his hover chair. Colossus is a good figure, but he can suffer from a floppy ab crunch.Sinister is all around awesom, same with Omega. My tail on Nightcrawler broke, but otherwise is a solid figure.Beast is a great figure with some good articulation. That Blob is nice for A BAF, but his range of motion isn't all that great and pyro I'm indifferent towards

Thank you! I'm trying to hold off, but I might just pull the plug. Even if Hasbro releases updates there is no guarantee they'll be better.

Professor X, Nightcrawler, Beast, Omega Red, Classic Colossus, Blob, and Pyro are great figures all around, all those figures still look great next to latest ML...The others you mentioned are not as well done, but Mystique is still a good ML female figure...Still trying to scratch some old school ML off my Grail List!..
