I don't really think that detracts from their overall point. I'm sure it was a thing at one point, but hasn't been consistently enforced since the 90's at least. So Boy Blunder saying that character sizes vary wildly depending on who is drawing is not an incorrect observation.

I never said it was wrong. What I said was that it wasn't "entirely true." It's sort of like agreeing, but not in a very affirmative or declarative manner. Very much like your statement that it "is not an incorrect observation" falls short of total agreement and saying, "it's a correct observation."...language is funny that way! :p

There are there also, the WW Hulk one has them at the same height

TheBlueMarvel 07-04-2017 01:55 PM

@Jerseysteel

The first, again, looks to be commissioned, but at least better than that other piece. The reason I point out that the work is "commissioned" is due to the implied freedom an artist 'may' have when creating such work. Less expectations. No looming editor or input from a writer...yadda, yadda...

The second is the work of Andrea Divito. By the way, I'm a big fan of his. The reason for my fandom, and that of many others, is that Andrea draws Marvel characters in a very classic style. Whether Divito does so on purpose or not, I don't know. But whatever the case is, he ultimately adheres to many classic sensibilities in his brand of comic art. I "agree" (;)) with Tomax...Juggs shouldn't be bigger than the Hulk...but that's just my opinion based when and where my comic jump-off point began...

Il Cattivo 07-04-2017 02:07 PM

trion juggernaut steps on puny hulk.

SymbiSpidey 07-04-2017 02:08 PM

I'm a fan of relative scale.

I don't try to pay too much attention to specific height classifications, but there are general rules I try to follow. Wolverine shouldn't be as tall as Spider-Man, Daredevil shouldn't tower over Punisher, Iron-Man should be roughly between Cap and Thor in height, etc.,

It doesn't even have to be super accurate to the way things are in the comics, as long as it looks right to me.

That's another VS thread classic. The Hulk punched his way through dimensions before the concept was ever dreamed of with Juggs....and that was regular ol' savage Hulk...not the World Breaker...big pic; all heroes (and some villains) have stupid stories...he was bigger tho'

Just like superboy prime broke the walls of reality in a pocket dimension. ;)

Yup...any dimensional wall breaking (or shattering of the Dark Crawler's entire dimension, in the Hulk's case) via the physical impact of one's fist is simply bad writing (IMO). That said, I read an article by a physicist (his actual profession according to the writing, if I'm recalling correctly)/comic fan that approached explaining how Superboy Prime/Time Trapper (did that revelation stick?) might've been able to do that. He wasn't theorizing about that particular story, but he explained that due to Superman's power set of super-speed/invulnerability/and strength, at the very least, each blow of Superman's (and many similarly overpowered heroes) should create a sonic boom. He went on to express that given the extreme levels of Superman's strength/speed/and invulnerability, he could actually punch so fast and so hard that he could create the force needed to split atoms. Essentially, Superman "throws bombs." As in, atomic bomb punches. Now, I was pretty good at HS physics and can keep up with most layperson concepts, but that shit is bit above my pay-grade. However, when you extrapolate this concept of nuclear punches to what it might take to breach a dimensional threshold, maybe you get to a place where achieving such a stupid sounding stunt becomes possible...:rolleyes: Science?!?! lol

The sad part is that an actual scientist took the time to analyze comic books. I hang my head in shame.

I'm not even stepping into that trap. BMI is so friggin' inaccurate.

Straight up, my best friend is the same height as Gert Yorkes, and is much heavier than her official weight, but not even the most exacting doctor would call her overweight, unlike how Gert is depicted.

So yeah, I stand 100% but my statement of official height/weight stats being written up by people who know jackall about it.

Might be overrated to you, but try finding one for an underrated price, and have you had a Mcfarlane Spidey in your hand?..Thought is was overrated, too, till I got one...

I like the colors on the Ramos inspired Fearsome Foes Spidey better...something about the colors and web wings. Plus the articulation is better on the head...

lol yeah, the BMI's an antiquated system for normal folk...which is basically what I said to you the last time we had this heroine height-weight dialogue. However, after a quick check using a couple of top tier athletes, it seems to be a bit more accurate for physical specimens...Serena Williams is 5'9" and 155lbs, something I think most people would find surprising. I personally thought she'd be heavier given her musculature and voluptuous proportions...and Caroline Wozniacki is 5'10" and 128lbs, definitely not the emaciated stick I would imagine her to be at those proportions. Both are within healthy parameters according to the BMI for women. I'm definitely going to have to do more research, specifically as it pertains to athletes, in order to suss out whether the BMI is truly useless or not...

@Red

Thank you, Red!

Bmi? Breaseses mass index? Bowel movement indicator? :p

I know this figure was hard to acquire, myself included, but what is everyone's thoughts on the 2014 Magneto? I've seen some that love it and some that just say stick to the Toybiz version. I'm not crazy about them using that horrible old Drax body, however, I like the cape, boots, and gloves. I think Hasbro will eventually release another Magneto (hopefully, so I don't have to pay $200 for an updated version), but I wanted to know what some of your thoughts are. For those that own the figure or don't. Thanks!

I have it and I like it. I actually have two due to having to get another after realizing my original had two of the same feet - not sure if that's a thing for which you'll need to be on the look out. Many people complained about the reuse of Toybiz' 1st appearance Punisher/Shield Agent body, which was later appropriated by Hasbro for Drax, then Cap, and ultimately Magneto. Many detractors opt for the Toybiz Magneto, which I also have. I think it's a wash between the two. Neither exceeds, nor falls short of the other. It's a pick'em. I'd also add that Hasbro will likely make another Magneto in the near future. I'm sure the temptation for a cash-in with a new Mags will prove too great to pass on for Hasbro. I paid $35-$40 for my replacement Magneto, but that was before the X-men moratorium ended. I have no idea what the fig is currently going for, but I'm sure it isn't worth it...

I used to own the figure but I sold it a few months ago. I don't think that it is worth what people are asking for on eBay. I like the Hasbro Magneto better than the old Toy Biz figure but that's not exactly a high bar to clear. Hopefully Hasbro will give us another one in the next couple of years.
