Just snagged a NECA Aliens USMC accessory pack for 15 bucks and a part 3 Jason with the lenticular box for 12.50, they were stashed under the bottom shelves (they lift up on hinges) be sure to check there for hidden gems!

Nice finds! I hope I can run across anything worthwhile. All that's left at mine is some genocide 2 packs and 2 neomorphs.

Unfortunate timing: Toys 'R' Us founder Charles Lazarus dies.

Wow, imagine living long enough to see the company you started die right before you do. Sad.

LordMudd 03-22-2018 02:16 PM

Mine is no longer honoring rewards.

went to two stores, one had the sign the other had nothing.

They were a couple sections that were pretty empty. I guess people rushed in during the last weekend and bought up stuff.

I went to the one in Murfreesboro tn today.... no sales, nothing different at all, and when I asked the manager she denied the company was folding or they were closeing at all. I asked if they were going to restock legends, she said of of course, I asked when, she replied the trucks usually come on Thursday... I mentioned it was Thursday, she reiterated “usually” I then asked if they were going to do a liquidation sale, she asked why... I said, well, because the company is bankrupt and the stores were closeing. She then proceeded to, in a very condescending tone, tell me “I don’t know where you get your news, but we’re doing very well, this store won’t be going anywhere!” I then informed her about the whole financial situation, and the shit creek the buisness was up. To which she replied “ you can’t believe the news anymore” I just laughed, said some smart ass quip like “ see ya in June” and left.

Good lord, I know the main reason for the ship sinking is Bain Capital saddling them with debt but with employees like that, it isn't helping matters :P

LordMudd 03-22-2018 06:53 PM

They may be lying to their employees to keep them from quitting.

Evidently the guys at MGA are setting up a crowd funding venture at savetoysrus.com to raise 1billion to keep some of the chain open.

Jeddostotle7 03-23-2018 12:06 AM

It is absilutely wild that a large corporation like MGA has set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of $1 Billion in order to save a brand.

They've set up the page, but I will not be advertising it here. It's an absolutely disgusting venture.

I was wondering why a company that probably has a kajillion dollars needs our help to buy the R Us brand :P You sure as heck won't get a stake in the company for your donation haha

I’m with you, i won’t be donating,I wasn’t advertising it, but letting people know what’s up. It’s sad that we live in an age where charity has become something noble to receive. ( not knocking all the legit businesses on kick starter and such)

I've just come out of the Portland ME Toys R Us. There are more ppl here than there have been in months, looking for "up to 30%". Couple guys by the road with standee signs, sign in the window that they're hiring temp help, most areas don't have any signs about percentage off (it appears to be 10% based on scanning items). For stuff I care about, LEGO is 5%, and it's 10% for diecast, action figures, playmobil and collectibles.

I didn't buy anything; i found one Majorette car I wanted but the register lines were long, wasnt worth it. I have an NH trip on Saturday and hope to visit 2-3 stores along my route. Want to find that Transformers Studio Series exclusive but not gonna get my hopes up.

I start tomorrow. Don't really need or want a second job, but the manager is a friend and they are really understaffed right now.

:thumbs
Good luck to you.
My current work schedule is enough of a drag without trying to add on a temp job anywhere, but def not retail. I hope I never do retail again for the rest of my life -- and I've wound up there during tough times twice so far. (plus a stint when I was in college, but I was in the stockroom, not the floor)
it's going to be a trying time there for the next couple months.
Retail shoppers often become giant crybabies when they don't, or can't, get the "deal" they envisioned.

:( I've heard this elsewhere too. crap. I was so close ...

... not that I often find something to spend them on anymore.

oh well. I was thinking it would defray the cost of a lego set or something.

Thanks for the update. I was about to print off a $5 reward this morning because I finally had the points. A part of me knew they would end the rewards right as I would get enough points for one last $5 reward.

Im hearing only 10% off action figures... that's a laugh. They don't apparently don't want to sell off their stock that badly.

redfox 03-24-2018 11:44 AM

My local store is one of the TRU's that announced it was closing a month back. It's currently promoting the "Up to 60% Off" signage, though most of the stock is only at 40% with a select few at 60%. (Action figures however are @ 50% off, but the shelves are about decimated.)
Interesting tidbit, yesterday they were also running an additional 20% off of the already discounted overall total price.

adcatalano 03-24-2018 01:21 PM

Based on what I’ve read previously I was surprised that my store’s collectible spot was largely in tact. I stashed a couple of packs of display stands from Neca. Store as a whole was busy but stock didn’t seem to be affected much outside of car seats.

Just bummed that I was 2 points away from a reward with a bunch of pending points
