84-89. Anything after that isn't really G1.

When did the Generation 2 toys come out? Yeah, anything before then is Gen 1

The G2 stuff started showing up around 93. I consider G1 to be between 84-92.

The difference comes from the strategies that each company employs. Hasbro aims for modern interpretations of characters with more "realistic" color schemes, while Takara generally goes for the "original G1" look.

As far as which one is cooler, that's really a matter of opinion. Personally, I prefer the Hasbro versions for two reasons: they're cheaper and I don't really care for the chrome on the Henkei versions, with a few exceptions.

Oh, and Universe Ironhide's blue face? That was a production error which is in the process of being fixed. Hasbro has stated he was always meant to have a silver face.

Looks pretty good. I'm still iffy on the dino-mode chest but I'm a robot mode guy anyway, and in that regard I can dig him.

i would get atleast one of each mold, Alts are what got me into action figs period, i think wheeljack's BT is my absolute fave followed by Mirage and the rest, i like them all, heck even Skids is an awesome TF, i miss Alts :(

as for ppl who dont like the mustang mold. i sorta use the seats as feet in a way that makes them a bit taller but needs leanin, but still Wheeljack sold me on TFs back in the day
