Both, really. But I saw the SF figures first and that's what turned me off. Maybe I'll get the Ken/Blanka set on clearance, just to be able to say I own one and yes, it's as bad as everyone says (or get proven wrong).

I did that with the GL movie 3.75" figures and am the proud owner of one of the worst Hal Jordan figures ever made. Thankfully, Bruce is keeping him company until Clark shows up next year. My plan is to eventually have the entire team of Justice Lame movie figures.

I can't lie, both lines were...not so great, but the SF figures were definitely the worst of the two IMHO. I snagged all of the SF & MK figures that were out at the time in one swoop, and ended up driving an hour each way to return the SF figures the next day; only time I've ever returned a figure since I started collecting.

I wasn't a big fan of the aesthetic of the SF figures to begin with, but when I opened up the first pack both figures were broken right out of the package. This was also the only time I've ever given a figure a negative review, usually I can find something positive to say about a figure, but nothing for these guys.

The MK figures were slightly better, haven't had any QC issues out of mine so far, and the aesthetic is more in line with other 3.75" figures, so that bought them a little bit of grace for me.

On a totally unrelated note....

Can anybody confirm for me that the the 4" Rain figure seen a single carded release? It seems like I recall seeing one at TJ Maxx or something, but I'm not 100% on it. I got the Ninja 6 Pack and didn't pay much attention to the single carded releases of the Ninjas after that. :(

(I'm going to be curating the ShelfLife database on these and want to make sure that all of the releases are represented.)

Yup I couldn't agree with you more. It wasn't much of a surprise when they cancelled the sf line. Although I was hoping that akuma and bison would be improved. Still need those two and guile to go along with mu. I never picked up the jazwares Guile and the revoltech one is pricey.

MK is decent. Their characters are hit or miss. My favorites are still the cyborgs.

Th0r4z1n3 12-11-2012 05:10 PM

The cyborgs are up towards the top of my list too. :D

I think the Klassic Ninjas are probably my favorite though. They're all kinda plain and there's nothing special about them, but then again so were their video game counterparts from the early days of MK... plus there's just so many of them lol.

I really wish they would have done the female ninjas too, but they didn't even get through the core cast yet so I guess that's kinda jumping the gun at this point. With Jax being canceled I hope it's not the end of the 3 3/4" figure all together, but I guess only time will tell.

The Jazware Mortal Kombat Line

Whats the status of the line? is it canceled? I noticed the other day while looking at some of the figures that the paint aps and such seems to be a bit better. I still havnt found a liu kang so hoping its not. thanks.

Dr Kain 12-16-2012 06:44 PM

Knowing Jazware, they won't say anything. Look at what happened to MegaMan years ago. They showed all of this great product (Sigma, Copy X, Wily, more RetroRoto figures) at a toy show and then everything relating to MM just disappeared. Of course, it isn't like they even bother with QC in their toys. Their toys make bootlegs look amazing in both quality and detail.

Ninjinister 12-16-2012 08:22 PM

The only 3.75'ers I saw last time I was at TЯU was just the Shao Kahn set and a couple of Klassic ninja. I was looking for Nightwolf, at least :|

I saw a Nightwolf just a couple of days ago, on a full peg mixed in with all of the Klassic Ninjas. Almost bought him, then realized my display (using the Shao Khan arena) is full.

I think the last Jazwares MK figures I'll buy will be 6" Liu Kang for sure, and then either "Deluxe" Shao Khan to display him with or the 6" Reptile, just because he has always been my favorite character, though I hate his new design.

trebleshot 12-17-2012 07:11 AM

We already have a thread for Mortal Kombat figures. Merged.

As to your question, I don't know if the line as a whole is done, but the Jax figure is definitely cancelled. I have not heard of any other figures coming out after him, either.

Shadowninja 12-17-2012 02:45 PM

I have seen a crapload of nightwolf just not liu kang. Dont really care about the johnny cage one cause I have the figure from the goro lair 2 pack and tbh he looks ridiculous with the johnny tat.

Poison Shadow 12-19-2012 08:02 AM

Does anybody have the 6 inch Liu Kang yet? Just looking for some impressions. Nightwolf too, as I forgot he was being released in the bigger scale.

Symbiote 12-19-2012 08:34 AM

Can anyone post pics of Liu Kang? Either version is fine.

Symbiote 12-23-2012 12:25 PM

I know most of the 3.75 mk figs need some work but minor modifications can be applied.

Got rid of the goonies Sloth eyes and went with the mk II black eyes. Also painted the teeth and put some blood on his claws.

Changed the hands and added lightning effects.

Primacron 12-23-2012 01:37 PM

I have Liu Kang in my parcel which just arrived from BBTS, so will post pics shortly after Xmas! Nice effort with Baraka, I was thinking of doing something similar, but I'll probably white the eyes.

Speakers92 12-23-2012 11:21 PM

Spotted a Deluxe shao kahn and 3.75 reptile at a Ross, just an FYI for anyone looking to get them cheaper.

trebleshot 01-01-2013 01:51 PM

Finally saw the deluxe versions of Baraka, Jax and Nightwolf at TRU this past weekend.

Still not impressed. *le sigh*

I know where the lightening effects on the hands came from (makes me wish I woulda picked up a single carded Storm now), but what did the parts on the legs come from?

Looks very cool BTW. :thumbs

Symbiote 01-02-2013 08:37 AM

The leg parts are just hot glue and some clear blue paint. Thanks for the comment. As crappy as the MK figures are, I felt compelled to get raiden at TJ Maxx and just modify the crap out of him to look better.

Jax is kinda of eh. I mean he looks much better then originally but he's way to short and not bulky enough to be a proper Jax. Baraka is better then the 4 inch version and as ugly as Baraka really is the figure isn't bad.

Jax's joints from the box are loose as hell and the one my girlfriend's brother got was the exact same way. Watched a video on You Tube and that person's Jax was loose too. For a 15.99 dollar figure that's crap! He has crazy legs haha.

Cool pictures!

Good idea on using World War Hulk!

Who are the two chicks chained up? Could you show me some comparison pics of them standing next to Mortal Kombat figures?
