Ust finally saw it last night!
Thrilled it was so great- and at the little comics references like the "Life Model Decoy" line and seeing TAA II (Thanos' massive starship) on the big screen when Tony goes through the rift!

You guys see lady Death's hands passing Loki his spear at the begining?
Awesome.

Poor Coleson! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Hawkeye was really great when in full swing atop the building- the shot while not even looking got laughs of coolness....as did the "pig out" scene after the credits!

As with Thor, Tom Hiddleson stole the movie as Loki- "I...think I'll have that drink now."
It was great to see both Thor and Loki at the top of their toughness- Thor blocking Hul's fist with his bare hands- Loki just surviving the punishment he takes throughout the movie....much less being able to stand and walk at the end!

warmachine6 05-09-2012 07:11 AM

Loki - I have an army

Tony - we have a hulk

Loki - pfftt

One half hour later .....

Loki - thinking son of a B**ch

Spacemafia 05-09-2012 07:34 AM

They need to rework the helmet....maybe the lack of ears....but something was off....

by the wayI think Disney is now pulling rank...

Newsarama.com : Disney Officially Announces AVENGERS Sequel in Development

Looks we wont have to wait for Thor, IM and Cap and any other film that would have come before.....I say we see the next one in two years....

Jason Abbadon 05-09-2012 08:08 AM

IM3 is already in pre-production- that'll come before anything else- and Thor 2 supposedly has it's cast time-scheduled for filming at year's end.
That's key- actors cant just remain available forever while a studio dicks around and actor's contracts for other films conflictiing with filming schedules can kill a sequel as easily as anything else.

Disney wont screw up IM3 and Thor2 to cash in early on a Avengers sequel.

To me that shows how much tougher movie Loki is than (classic) comic Loki- he's not even bruised when he comes to!

But you know Jarvis fimed that shit and Tony watches it- when he's getting laid atop a giant pile of cash in his own skyscraper!

You guys think Stark Tower will become Avengers Tower in the next movie? Or that we'll see War Machine next time?
I can see Rhodey running back home to change, getting armored up and then it's all over...."Aaaawwwwww!"

stark tower meh to avengers tower depends on what the ultimate comics say also i would prefer if they made an Avengers mansion rathar than a tower but to see warmachine will make my day :D espically with a new suit although i like his one i cant see how they would improve it but i said that with the ironman VII (disapointted it wasnt a triangle :L but when i saw the movie i was like OMFG i need this figure lol) so like i said before Hasbro can easily hiptonstise me into getting movie figures

Jason Abbadon 05-09-2012 09:35 AM

Yeah, the shoulder micro-munitions were great! IM is kicking ass as soo as the portal is opened! And the whole "Jonh and he Whale" bit was killer- I though we'd see Thor do that, not Tony!

Another movie and another two suits of IM armor utterly destroyed!

The fight with Thor was so much fun- "Armor power at 400%" was an "oh shit!" moment!

Do you think Marvel Studios is looking to incorporate parts of the Haunted story line into the second act of Iron Man 3 given reports of filming in China and the two confirmed actors playing Aldrich Killian (Guy Pierce) and Maya Hansen (Rebecca Hall)?

I'm pretty certain Ben Kingsley is the Mandarin considering Mandarin is supposed to be a descendant of Ghengis Khan through his father but also the son of an English noblewoman (which I'm sure not very many people know and would wonder why a non Chinese man could be playing the Mandarin). Seriously, if I hear the name "Tem Borjigin" I'm gonna be like every fan boy's reaction to Thanos at the end of Avengers! Lol

jveron 05-09-2012 01:40 PM

if Thanos is a definite for the 2nd movie....i hope this guy appears ominously above earth somewhere in the build up of the solo movies or in the opening of the actual sequel. It would set the right tone for the ass licking to come to Earth's mightiest.

I thought for sure they were going to play that up later in the movie either to take out one of the alien ships or at least to resucitate Tony even though it was funny how they did that

warmachine6 05-09-2012 01:56 PM

i think they might get away with an everyone Vs galatcus although saying that they might need to make 3 awsome films perphaps would be intresting but unlikely

Agreed and I love the choice of Ben. And even if he isn't Mandarin that's a solid signing for these movies. Without the great acting in these Marvel movies we'd be left with something like.. The Green Lantern.

To us the costume from Captain America was more of a soldier type costume, while the costume from The Avengers was a super hero costume. We don't think the soldier costume would have been as flexible or fit in with the movie as much as the super hero costume did. They could have made the super hero costume a bit darker though

Amen, talented actors are the backbone of these movies.

Haha, its ok Ryan Reynolds. If you would like to redeem yourself there's always a Deadpool role waiting for ya ;)

I wish DC would as a whole get this into their minds instead of constantly trying to discover the next Christopher Reeve.

Avengers rocked so hard I'm going to try and get my father in law to go see and pay for him as an early Father's day present.

^ This. Marvel/Disney's announcement of Avengers 2 doesn't move the timetable up. It just means it's officially "on the docket." IM3, Thor 2, and Cap 2 are all still coming first. Also possibly one other as-yet-unannounced film.

Loki's a tough customer in the comics too. He can take his lumps from Thor and still not be too badly roughed up by it most of the time. He's stronger and tougher than most Asgardians that aren't named "Thor" or "Odin" even if physical confrontation isn't usually his "thing."

And Stark Tower is totally becoming Avengers Tower. If you look at that scene at the end, Tony and Pepper were plotting out how to get a Quinjet Hangar into the building. And of course the "A" being the only letter left on the building was another clue. Plus...the whole building is architecturally practically a giant "A" too (which is probably an in-universe coincidence but deliberate design choice movie-wise).

War Machine in the next Avengers movie? Maybe. But they're going to have to be careful not to make the movie too crowded. Obviously they'll want to introduce new members, but that's going to come at the expense of older members. This first movie just about managed to balance everyone almost perfectly. Throwing two or three or more new characters into that mix could get...messy. Unless you leave some of the old ones out or greatly reduce their roles. Though I could see Thor and the Hulk getting less screen time, and only showing up at the climax of the film to help save the day.

From IMDB:

"Although not specifically identified by name in the film, the agent in 1940s attire at the end when Steve Rogers wakes-up is played by Amanda Righetti, and is listed in the credits as "SHEILD agent". She is also identified as Sharon Carter (Peggy Carter's granddaughter and love interest of Steve Rogers in the comics) in The Avengers movie."

Amanda also plays Grace Van Pelt on The Mentalist.
