Anyone track down the Ultimate Vulture two-pack? I'm wondering how big his wingspan is in comparison to the movie BAF version's.

That two pack is readily available in my area and I got one when it was brand new. The wingspan on comic Vulture is just over a foot from tip to tip but then movie Vulture has like a two foot wingspan when fully assembled.

Saying you need to change a character's race/gender cuz otherwise the stories "stagnate" is pure BS. Then Marvel needs to hire better writers & ones who care about the original character.

I'm with you dude !! That's also why their new thing coming september or whenever is called "Legacy" they claim to be bringing back things back to status quo. Matter of fact that's what one of their big wigs said at a convention a month or so back. In his words and if anybody likes i can find the article too " people are now tired of PC".

He then promptly retracted it, lol.

As for Legacy, no, not really. It looks like Thor's getting his hammer back and Captain America isn't gonna be a Nazi anymore, but the younger and minoritiy characters are sticking around. Heck these are some of the initial images they used to announce Legacy.

But anyway we've been down this road about a billion times at this point. Hasbro's not gonna stop making Legends of more diverse characters, so people need to get over that dream.

lordbest 07-11-2017 08:37 PM

He retracted it because it was contradicted by the sales data provided by Diamond and even Comixology. The whole thing was farcical.

Minor-ish spoiler, but the Ultimate universe (I think) Mjolnir has been found in the 616 universe, so I expect at some point that is going to find it's way to Odinson.

It has been found in 616 and it doesn't go to him. Someone else has it.

Doesn't matter, it was still said... yes they're keeping a few of the PC characters yet some are going bye bye and some of the originals are returning.

I know, that's why I said I expect it will get to him at some point, not that he has it now. Either that or FosterThor will end up with it. The point is, there are two Mjolnirs in play.

Looking at the Legacy promos, the only prominent diverse character I can see missing off the top of my head, is Riri Williams. The presence of Iron Man doesn't exactly negate the existence of Ironheart either. So hardly a triumph for the anti-PC crowd.

Riri is on the Invinsible Iron Man cover fighting Dr. Doom. It even mentions her by name on the cover. She's also on the right in the Marvel Legacy group shot hasbroherofan posted up above.

lordbest 07-11-2017 09:31 PM

You're right, I hadn't seen the second image when I posted the above. So, no major diverse characters are being lost then.

TheBlueMarvel 07-11-2017 09:39 PM

Is that Earth X Venom in the bottom-most right?

The only character I've heard about being missing from any of the promo covers has been modern era Steve Rogers. The classic version (from WW 2 I think) is showing up on the group shot but nowhere else.

Boy Blunder 07-11-2017 10:34 PM

Really, if anything it's looking like Legacy is going to be honoring the legacy characters, not ushering them out. Also noticing a distinct lack of Logan, which is good - let the poor man have his peace in death. I love him, but I also love Laura taking the name.

Like En Sabah said, it's not even close. MCU Vulture makes the Ultimate Vulture look like a parakeet.

If we want to keep everything in the vulture family though then MCU would be like a condor and comic would be a buzzard.
Nice pic for size comparison.

And once again it was still said. They didn't want to offend those that are fans of it. Their sales have been in the slumps. Why else is there a Death of Thor coming up and a good amount of the original characters are returning? If the PC idea was winning for them why have the originals return at all then ?

I actually collect and read comics on a regular. i also attend cons and talk to others. i also have a side business of selling graded comics. People have been straying away from current marvel due to what they've been doing.

Dc has been killing them. It's not because of their roster or characters have dramatically changed either... they kept it to the roots with their stories, good writing, and the art has been pretty good. Can't say the same with Marvel however.

Don't bring facts into this! ;)

You want facts check Comichron: Comic Book Sales by Month there are monthly sales figures for every title there....

i know alot of you "claim" to be comic gurus on here, however i know only an actual few of you are..

Marvel's been selling poorer across the board. Gee, it's like Marvel's constant relaunches and event crossovers like Civil War II and Secret Empire are what's hurting the company, not people being tired of all these darn women and minorities in their books.:p

It's also hilarious to use Rebirth as an example when one of the major selling points for Rebirth was that it specifically brought back a bunch of legacy characters and elements that had been rebooted out of the previous canon. Plus all that PCness!

lordbest 07-12-2017 09:28 AM

DC Rebirth was quite diverse too, especially following the New 52. Both in terms of characters and especially creators.
Plus multiple retailers have gone on the record saying diversity was good for Marvel, it was the constant events and cancelling titles before they even reached trades and so forth which hurt them.

Bolding this because this has been a constant problem in comics, but Marvel's been REALLY bad with it.

Honestly, I can't remember when the last period of more than a year where there wasn't some stupid effing event dominating the books. Have we been inundated in events since the original Civil War, or has it been before that?

It's part of the reason I'm even getting dragged out with the Transformers comics, which are some of my favorite books - IDW has started down the 'Event-a-Year' method that forces the individual writers to sideline their stories for the sake of an event, and it's gotten worse since they've incorporated numerous other Hasbro property titles into a shared universe.

When you have an 'event' every few months, it stops being eventful and starts being boring as hell. And above anything else, that is gonna make your audience apathetic to your books - a good story can't be told if it has to play second-fiddle to the story mandates of the editorial arm.
