I talked to Dwight Stall about this very issue on preview night. He said that there are 3 waves of MU sitting on the docks, and the delays were originally intended to be much shorter. But due to logistics issues, specifically that they ran out of UPC codes and had to switch to a new prefix, the delay was much longer than they expected. Apparently the retailers didn't understand what was changing, and were ready to purge the old codes from their databases before Hasbro caught it. He went on to assure me multiple times that David Vonner left them so far ahead in the MU department that they have more than enough new figures to last until the end of 2013, if not beyond. Both Dwight and another independent Hasbro painter assured me that MU isn't going anywhere.

Dwight was really excited about their new Legends ideas, so it was bait difficult to keep them talking about MU, especially when most of that work has been long done.
