This in a nutshell! Back in the 80s, Marvel came out with the "OFFICIAL" handbook of the Marvel universe with listed hgts & wgts, strength levels, fighting abilities, etc of all their marvel characters. Why in the hell would they do this & then allow their artist to take artistic license with their listed hgts and Make 6 foot characters like the Thing an 8ft giant now & the Hulk a 9ft giant when he was originaly 6'6 in Grey form and 7ft in Green form? Juggs was always listed at 6'10 and now also a 9 footer. Thanos is originally 6'7 now also drawn Hulk sized. It's like these artists of the last 10-15yrs or so seem to think that drawing them giant sized conveys more power because Thanos can't be a god like being at just 6'7, he has to be drawn Hulk sized. Same for Juggs, cuz at 6'10 that ain't big enough. I guess Superman should be drawn as being a 7 footer as well cuz how can such a small being at a mere 6'3 be so powerful? Thor is 6'6 but Hasbro has also giant sized him to 7 inch+ scale which is why I have bought zero figures of him from Hasbro. Same for the Wrecking crew , T-Ball at 6'6 is the tallest member, but yet, Hasbro put the entire crew on that Gawd awful Warpath buck making them 8ft giants. I bought none of them. Some of you may not care that your figures hgt scale is all over the place, but I for one do care & I hate that not only in the comics but in plastic form, that way too many characters are being done in the wrong scale.

Look at the great artists of the 70s-80s , they always did their very best to adhere to the listed hgts of the characters they drew. Perez & Byrne were 2 of the best at drawing Marvel/DC characters at their listed comic book hgts.

Darksied was always listed around 7ft in the DC character guide that also came out in the 80s, now he's like a 10ft giant.

And if Marvel is basing their hgts for Hulk on what the MCU is doing, that's even worse cuz the MCU & the comics should be kept separate universes. But since hardly no kids bother to read comics nowadays & get all their marvel "knowledge" from the movies, that'ts a losing battle.

All good, as long as Hasbro keeps making characters in the wrong scale, I won't buy em. The upcoming Walgreens Thing figure is gonna be a no buy as I predict he will also be done on some 7 inch scaled buck.

The Hasbro BAF Ronan wave Thing figure is the perfect scale & build for Thing, the head sculpt is the only "thing", pun intended, that I feel could have been done better.

I appreciate much what you've written, b. We're on the exact same page on many fronts. However, sometimes we 'older heads' need to take a step back and let subsequent generations of fans find their niche - a buddy of mine here on this site actually enlightened me in that regard as it pertains to modern rap. I'd love for everything to be as it was, but now that I exclusively read trades of stories that I never got around to reading from 'our era,' I have to admit there were a BUNCH of stinkers. Conversely, I don't hate everything that's out now. While I'd prefer he write a Blue Marvel book, Ta-Nehsi Coates is doing a very solid job on Panther. And as much as I think she's the quintessential Mary-Sue, I actually like America Chavez. I rankle when I think of diversity as a gimmick; make your creative staff more diverse to foster organic character creation, don't just convert existing characters via a cheap 'Legacy' device - that's not real nor enduring progress. That said, I like characters like Kamala Khan, I just wish they'd given her an identity of her own. I don't mind Jane being Thor because Thor was a frog, a woman (in Earth X), and lets not forget the Designate/Thor Girl/Tarene. Life and the universe are circles, dawg. If you're patient enough your grove will come back around.

Can I just say that that Man-Thing figure is looking pretty awesome? Makes me kind of wish I had the money to get the entire Netflix wave.

Veronica Mars 07-19-2017 07:21 PM

Is there a Hasbro panel this weekend? If so, when is it?

Robb 07-19-2017 07:27 PM

Curious, can I use my TRU card and reward coupons to buy any of those?

Penguino 07-19-2017 09:06 PM

Not really a part of the Marvel collecting base but if anyone wants Tombstone or Moon Knight I'm going to pick them up tomorrow for the BAF part.

Wanted to offer them up here in case someone needs them.

They have toy sections in their stores. The one near where I get my groceries has a small but pretty well stocked shelf dedicated to Legends and DC Multiverse figures.

My stores aren't even big enough to sell figures.

With only one new reveal tonight, I'd keep an eye out for tomorrow. Last year, Hasbro pretty much leaked new figures in their displays every day of the Con.

Looks like it. It's really cool to see more stores take an interest in the line. Hopefully this is a positive sign for the future.:D

Boy Blunder 07-19-2017 10:14 PM

Nabbed a Moon Knight tonight on our shopping trip. Very, very impressed with him. Had little trouble getting his mini-moons/claws into the fist. Probably will post some pics in the morning.

They have been selling Legends since the Hulkbuster wave at least. I do know that certain store are considered "Think Geek" stores and are being converted to have 1/3 up to 1/2 of the stores for figures and collectables.
I know of 2 such stores in the KC area and a 3rd store is being converted soon. ( Hint , it is usually the stores with the most floor space). I went to one of those stores Wednesday and they had gotten at least a case plus some of the GOTG series 2 and the new Netflix/Knights wave. Someone had grabbed all the Knights short packs, but they had 3-4 each left of DD and Punisher. ( I know the manager and he said they had them all Monday).

ALSO starting Thursday the 20th Gamestop has some SDCC 2017 exclusives (mostly POPs just like last year) so IF you need an Funko Batman Animated Manbat or Suicide Squad Joker Batman POP check them out.

Phantomcrow 07-19-2017 11:37 PM

The TRU website had all of the GOTG series 2 IN STOCK (as of this posting) AND they are 25% OFF!!
THe sale may only be part of their 2 day sale, so wednesday and thursday.

https://www.toysrus.com/search?q=98403jul17

Glad I waited and got the set ( and extra Adam Warlock) for 40$ under retail.

En Sabah Nerd 07-20-2017 01:50 AM

Finally saw Spider-Man Homecoming and I had the entire theater to myself too. I thought it was spectacular (ha, spider-man jokes!) and next to Spider-Man 2 it's easily the best Spidey movie.

I wish i could say the same but i must have him for my wall o pool. My ocd ( and fan obsession ) demands i get him :)

donmeca2020 07-20-2017 06:38 AM

I'm not holding my breath with gamestop stores.... while i constantly complain about stores here in south florida when it comes to hunting for Legends, gamestop definitely tops walgreens with never having figures you want in stock..... granted when i bought the red hood Nitelife is speaking of i ordered it online. however ALL gamestops around me don't stock pops or figures like some of the photos i've seen a few of you post on here in the past.

Captain Nash 07-20-2017 07:06 AM

The A-Force set is up for sale! Placed my order already after reloading all morning. $5.99 for regular shipping or $9.99 for 2-3 day shipping..hmmm at that difference rather have the darn thing sooner than later. Go get 'em!!!

https://t.toysrus.com/product/index....omicConvention

And so begins SDCC lol

RoboSnuf 07-20-2017 07:11 AM

Well, I tried - only to get stuffed with a 'US shipping only' notification after going through PayPal. Before I logged in, there was a country selection drop-down... I don't understand and am quite frustrated.

We really do get stiffed here in the UK for MLs... Pretty much as much as everywhere other than the US. Perhaps I should relocate.
