Maybe waves will only be 3 or 4 figures sometimes going forward. Clearly they have other stuff in the works but it would be nice to at least know about it. Maybe they thought since we have so many new figures to buy over the next few months we would be happy.

If fewer figures means better case ratios, I'm all for it.
Which in turn will make stuff easier to find as they said.
Like I mentioned above, the Professor X wave is only 3 new figures but it's a pretty even case ratio packing which should make all 3 easier to find.

Yeah, I agree with this, but at the same time I wish they would have came out and said this exactly like this giving us some reassurance they have in fact "fixed" the dist.

Just give us a straight answer like "we fucked up", ya know, keep us informed, and we would be more chill

was just thinking that. if that meant 3 of each new figure and 3 carryovers per case, i'm all for it. then just round everything out with comic packs and 3 packs. like teams that would be tough to get in single cards, just spam em at us like the inhumans set. alpha flight would make a fantastic 3 pack.

Just chalk it up to performance anxiety and other hiccups, like how Trainwreck mentioned elsewhere they accidentally brought slides they couldn't use. That actually kind of makes me wonder if the alpha flight set might be timed towards the wolverine sequel's release.

So. Not much else announced this time around. I'm a little upset, but I'll survive for now. The fact we're finally getting Emma Frost is a plus, and Elektra, Mysterio, Nova... It should be a good enough year.

fallen69lee04 07-14-2012 09:43 PM

oldman logan for digital sub. hmmm i guess. wish it was some one else. hes gona be expensive if you dont get the digital sub. you guys know how those exclusives are in the hands of scalpers.

Jason Abbadon 07-14-2012 09:54 PM

Personally, I'd prefer niche characters like Old man Logan as the Sub figure- keeps the fans of those characters happy to have them and frees up slots in waves for characters that have more universal appeal.

Like Quasar!
Where's my quasar, damnit! I DEMAND an entire Quasar line! Quasar! Makkari! Malestrom! Annihilus! Ronan! Ikon! Cosmo!

FancyPants 07-14-2012 09:55 PM

I put death mask archangel on a stand next to the other one. I really like it.

Guardians of the Galaxy will probably have it's own figure line haha.

Jason Abbadon 07-14-2012 10:07 PM

Yeah! We need a GotG movie line with a Comic series batch of figures!
ADAM MAGUS, baby! I want to see two things from any GotG movie-
Drinking/ Bar fight.
Adam saving all of the universe and then killing half the team.

Also:
Obvious and loving relationship between Phyla and Heather.
Peter and Rocket's side conversations while fighting:
Quote:

"I cant look Rocket- Did Thanos just totally fuck us over?"
"Like you wouldn't believe."
Nova must appear!
Gamora MUST be kickass! As in "WAY badder than Black Widow" kinda kickass!

NoodleChow 07-14-2012 10:12 PM

kinda digging the concept art so far. if star lord had the helmet on top of the mask, it'd be perfect.

Almost certain Ed Mcguinness is one of them.

Also Fin Fang Foom isn't cancelled. He was going to be the con exclusive but they changed it really late to make something specifically Avengers themed. They saw this as the summer of Avengers and wanted to ride that wave.

They are looking for a home for Foom and they will likely have some more info in New York.

I need to try to get back to NYCC. I had a blast there last year.

You heard it here first folks. Further conversation led me to believe the MU team MAY be Alpha Flight (but that is just speculation).

Also the distribution question was finally answered. We heard two different answers though. The one I was told at the panel was that they shipped too much Early Series 4 stuff before the Avengers movie and the movie toys and Legends had MU peg warming as many collectors went to those other lines.

In the future they want to make sure ML and movie lines don't consume MU lines by not shipping it in a huge hurry right before the summer (see Thor/Iron Fist wave).

But Pete was told something else...

This is from the other thread about the future of MU, but it's worth pointing out here since others may not have seen it.

Count me excited and appreciative of hasbro. Bring on NYCC!

Yeah, Pete's helmet looks lke Jack Flag's but with straps on the head- hopefully that'll get covered with the top of the pith helmet he wears in the comics!
I also hope we see Moondragon, and MANTIS!!!
Really, we NEED Mantis! Use some badass female matrial artist- Mantis is pretty deadpan so the acting does not have to be top priority...Mantis is likely Marvel's top martial artist wih Mandarin, iron fist and Chang Chi close behind.

Plus, what's a team without a clarivoyant, pyrokenetic, telepath, martial artist in a miniskirt?!?

I bet the Universal Curch of truth is going to be the villians...or possibly Thanos! that would draw crowds if Thanos was in it- leading to Avengers 2- guest-starring the Guardians of the Galaxy!

And Bug! We need four green skinned people on the team!
And Cosmo! Everyone likes dogs!

conan050 07-14-2012 11:03 PM

So, Old Man Logan is the Digital Sub. Exclusive?!?!? Does that mean we won't see him until this time next year seeing how the Doom Digital exclusive just popped up now?!?!!?

Snowflakian 07-14-2012 11:10 PM

I always assumed Thanos was going to be in GOTG anyway. Made more sense to tease him at the aftercredits scene in prep for the GOTG movie that's now formally announced instead of just Kevin Feige interview announced.

Really glad they are moving along with the releases so fast in prep for Avengers 2. Hopefully we'll get a full roster in Avengers 2, plus some amazing cameos. All around, these movies look like they'll shape up for some badass toylines.

Now if Hasbro could just find a way to umbrella them all under one line to make it easier with all the different marvel movies coming so we don't get skimped out on some properties like X-Men.

I could see them maybe skipping Cap 2, Thor 2, and Ant-man as tehy all seem like they could be problematic with potential Avengers 2 toys(some kind of avengers header for all 3 would help that). Also not really digging the Bleeding edge design superimposed onto the Ironman movie armor. That's going to be weird and take some getting used to. So I'm not sure what the IM3 movie toys could have in the works. Hopeful they finish out his remaining comic armors though. That could probably fit in the same header as the other 3 Avengers movies too, which helps alleviate retailer shelf space and timing.

Man, now I'm all excited for toys that may never exist. xD

Jason Abbadon 07-14-2012 11:35 PM

Hmmm......no one has attempted that one to my knowledge....

I'm not being negative, and I fully agre that a slow down is normal. I also seethediscussion here as a little skewed as I see the movie lines as related and part of MU. Like clone wars figures are part of SW.

But numbers wise if you look at the number of released/announced releases and new characters in the mix 2013 looks bare.
figures newbs
2009 70 44
2010 83 44
2011 63 31
2012 58 23
2013 8 7

so far this years they've release 23 figures, 5 new characters. None were single packs and aside from convention exclusives there were nonew figures introduced.

So far we have 8 figures announced for next year. im sure we'll get more and I am satisfied that theline is healthy and will remain alive. I think they just are behind schedule and slowed their development cycle to match. Maybethe second half of 2013 will be awesome.

That's really interesting too when you put it into perspective with the new buck designs and progressively better articulation. Those statistics really reflect the production costs. It's also interesting to note that for almost every year it's near half new characters, cept so far for 2013 it's almost all new.
