It really does make for a great background crest for doom. I didn't even buy that destro. Just some figure I bought ages ago from some guy on ebay used it to send the figures to me. xD

I kept it because of how awesome it was for doom's throne(whatever I bought that came in it, was around the same time I was making the throne). xD

Some older pics for Doom 2099 and his backdrop before I moved him to that shelf.

I really wish people wouldn't spend so much time speculating here about the future of MU. Fretting about what might or might not happen is hardly "appreciation."

Nobody here really has enough information about Hasbro's business to make educated guesses on our own. All we're doing is speculating and getting ourselves worked up into a frenzy. The one piece of solid information I have (sourced from the NY Times) is that GI Joe is a big money-maker for Hasbro because they don't pay licensing fees.

I, for one, am excited by what I have seen... can't wait to get my hands on Kraven, Rhino, Mysterio, and the Inhumans!!

That's definitely true. The licenses they own outright they make the most money from. That's pretty much true for any industry though(more complicated with hollywood because of royalties and how they manage to 'tweak' the books).

Personally I'm completely with you on what you said!
Let's use this thread for its purpose, there are other threads for the other stuff.

Granted I know I'm probably an offender of that too, but let's all celebrate what we love here. =D

Tarooster 07-15-2012 03:27 AM

I understand both sides, but I think what most people are mad about is even if the lines not dead Hasbro really didn't offer up any explanation to the drought or give us something to make up for it that we didn't already know about. I know NYCC will probably have more reveals but that's another 4 months away or so and people have already been waiting since the end of last year for news. It's just frustrating for a lot of people who already looking at a hobby that's suffering from inflation, poor distribution, quality issues, etc.

Really, how much more stuff can they keep showing/announcing while there's such a backlog of unreleased figures??
From a business perspective, it's stupid for them to keep making prototype with a year of inventory ready to go.
We still have (drumroll please)
Nighthawk
The MoE set
ALL of waves 18 and 19
New AvX comic packs
Old Man Logan exclusive (not some crappy repaint- YEAH!)
Electra
Emma Frost
Collusus-Juggernaut
Inhumans boxed set
That Giant Ultimo
Pending stuff like the Black Knight, Masterson Thor, Thunder Frog, etc.

Really, there's a minimum of 25-30 figures that have not hit retail in any way and we're still worried about the line?!?

That's three times the number of ML figures announced and no one is saying "The sky is falling!" over that line...

I think our love of MU (and big reveals at prior shows) has colored some of our expectations- and the occasional doomsayer that promounced the line dead only feeds into our dread that, in spite of all evidence otherwise, the line is ending.

Really, unless they officially announce something, lets go with what they actually said- that the line was pushed bak because of The Avengers and it should be easier to find new upcoming stuff.

Good post. This is how I feel.

..and if anyone wants to quit MU; I say good riddance. More for me.

But numbers wise if you look at the number of released/announced releases and new characters in the mix 2013 looks bare.
figures newbs
2009 70 44
2010 83 44
2011 63 31
2012 58 23
2013 8 7

so far this years they've release 23 figures, 5 new characters. None were single packs and aside from convention exclusives there were nonew figures introduced.

So far we have 8 figures announced for next year. im sure we'll get more and I am satisfied that theline is healthy and will remain alive. I think they just are behind schedule and slowed their development cycle to match. Maybethe second half of 2013 will be awesome.

I think it will be- as to 2013, there's the IM3 line coming out which we'll likely see a peek of at NYCC.
Lots of potential there- hopefully we'll see some more comic villians like from the (amazing) IM2 comic series!

HELL yes! He's got great customer service too- super quick!
I cant reccomend him enough, really.

For a SW Doom, it would be fairly simple-sheet styrene and Aves on an Ultron body to make the paneled torso and either styrene and greebles for the leg-band thingie or buy a used SW line Doom and cut that part off, paring it down to fit.
Damn, I want to make this bitch now- I have an extra Doom and everything!

Anyway, get the Glasman Dum Dum head! A masterpiece of casting reduction from the ML head.

Glassman offers a service where he'll reduce a head to 3.75 scale (1:18) for $25.
I was thinking there ,ust be some sweet potential in that.
Might be wirth it to get that ML Maria Hill and Sharon Carter head- he already offers the short haired Black Widow, which is a far superior sculpt to anything else for her.

What would you suggest?

Man, that's just great!
Y'know, there's an old Punisher issue where Frank steals a portrait of Doom's mother to ransom against Doom killing him (it was an Acts of Vengeance thing). There's (IIRC) a couple of nice, and scanable, pics of the portrait if you wanted to add it to the display.

Love that throne- I started something like that for another character but got distracted...gotta get that done. You guys (and gals) would be picking your jaws off the floor if I can finish it....

I might have to look into finding pics of that then. I still need to finish decorating that shelf to look like Castle Doom.

It's from the SDCC Marvel Movie Panel that talked about all the upcoming movie releases like:

Ant-Man
IronMan 3
Thor: The Dark World (11.8.13)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (4.4.14)
Guardians of the Galaxy (8.1.14)

That pic was part of the concept art for the GOTG movie. Which means it's not accurate to what'll be in the movie, but a good general idea of the direction they are aiming for and who might be in it.

I'll try to later this evening. I reorganized it to move some of the troop building to the shelf above to go with the crimson hisstank, and moved some figures over to a new technodrome/tmnt sewer playset shelf I threw together in prep for new TMNT. So it's got the MK cyborgs on it, and AIM agents testing out Zombie Vipers to let loose into the sewers. xD
So that shelf used to be much more packed than what that pic shows.

Hopefully since it's such a space faring series, the design changes will be minimal. It's all "Alien Tech" anyway, so they have their convenient excuse for suspension of disbelief with whatever choices.

Sadly that'd have to be a Fox panel along with more info on Daredevil's new flick, and Fantastic Four Reborn. (Also yup, Jessica Biel might be cast as viper. I haven't followed up on the stories if she did get cast, just that the studio was looking to her for that role.)

I really don't get why they don't try and pull a Marvel Studios with the rights they have. You'd think Daredevil at least would work for Fan4 or X-Men as a cameo or side bit.

Heck, X-23's story itself if they kept the Daredevil usage from her origin mini would give them a nice bridge gap between DD and X-Men. There are a ton of Fan4 stories that use him too, not to mention the law firm angle stuff that'd be easy to slot in cameos anywhere.

I just want Doom included in the FF4 reboot.

And done properly. Not at all how they handled him in the previous movies. That was a shame.

I cant say I didnt like the previous FF4 movie Doom because I did,it was Doom, and anything Doom is cool imo, that being said, I feel the way they portrayed him was a bit off and his backstory sucked, the way they disposed of him in the end of silver surfer was weak as well,so to recap, having a weak representation of Doom is better then no Doom at all, but here is a chance to get it right, lets hope they do,he deserves the treatment ironman, thor and the avengers have gotten,he is one of the most popular, recognizable and badass characters marvel has pumped out,do him justice.
