Hi everyone! Just your friendly neighborhood The Heat here checking in to see if there's any interest in some of my ebay listings for the week.

First up is my version of Blade, complete with gun and sword!
Attachment 44094
Attachment 44095
If you're interested in bidding on Blade please feel free to check out his listing by clicking here.

Next up is a custom Iceman complete with delicious sugary frosting (not really, please don't sue me if you ingest this toy). The pictures don't quite show it, but he has a super glossy finishing coat to give that ice-like quality.
Attachment 44096
Attachment 44097
If you're interested in bidding on Iceman please feel free to check out his listing by clicking here.

Next is a brown suit Wolverine with real metal claws. This obviously goes without saying, but this dude is actually very sharp and should be kept away from small children. This guy was actually my very first MU custom ever.
Attachment 44100
Attachment 44101
If you're interested in bidding on Wolverine please feel free to check out his listing by clicking here.

And finally I have a custom Jubilee figure. I fixed the severe case of 'derp eye' that plagued this release by completely repainting her face. I also did some action figure surgery on her to reduce her overall height so that she'd look a little more like a teenager.

If you're interested in bidding on Jubilee please feel free to check out her listing by clicking here.

Those are super-nice. I hated the Spader-isms of that Ultron so I'll still with my over-sized video-game Ultron https://goo.gl/photos/w2XSHESwA5FzJCkk9 I need to paint it though

Should have bought both packs a returned the two derpy figs in one pack.

Universe 08-14-2017 09:22 AM

I finally found one not so Derpy, just going to do a hard pass on the Thor Movie pack since they don't scale at all with the other MCU figs.

Yeah, you want it to be 8 bucks, but that's not gonna happen nowadays, is it? I'm sure Hasbro would want it to be that price, since so many people complain about that price, and the profit from keeping it that way would probably make up for the lost extra few bucks(since more people would buy them at that price), but that is NOT the world we live today. If you're gonna have expectations on price, make sure they're within reality. However, I do think they should switch to the Star Wars price point of $12, as that's the borderline of reasonable for these figs(at retail prices, anyway).

Heck, if we go by two packs pricing, $10 for each figure seems pretty reasonable.

It really doesn't even make sense that the Marvel figures are more than Star Wars black series. Every SA Star Wars figure is a unique sculpt with at least one accessory.

Plus, fully articulated by Star Wars standards.

I agree with ya, its just that with what we are given the price us not justified , at least to me.i mean hell 10 bucks is totally pushing it but thats the max i would consider. Seeing as how ar 8 bucks the figs had gear, a stand file card and fully articulated. I know REALISTICALLY it will not go back, but ifthey think 17.99 is justifiable for standless, cardless, gearless dearticulated figs hasbro is off its bloody rocker.

@Prem X... where/what is that Ultron? Is it just like a statue figurine or is he more like an action figure?

@Universe- the Thor is definitely short, but I think in a flight stand jumping towards the gladiator Hulk, he could fit right in and look great in a MCU display. Sometimes you have to fudge them to make them work. Stood on top of something, separated, suspended, on the ground lying down. There are many "tricks" to male them work. Worth a shot maybe? Good for thought.

Maybe just do two packs at 20 for awhile? Seems to be working so far. Besides, it would give them a reason to give us Kingpin and pack him an Iron Man that we already 4 of...... and with a character like that I wouldn't even complain! ;)

13-17 is too steep. The figures are not that good now. They come with ZERO accessories....that said, I think they should raise the price and offer the same as ML 6" or ML "12 or do two packs? Something. Not too many of us buy full waves and cases anymore.

Good statement NickNaro.... it is very valid. Why indeed?

Mordiganne 08-14-2017 04:16 PM

The Universe is expanding.... (pics to follow in next post)

Now that my initial SHIELD additions are done I went back to what was going to be the last batch with more lesser known/obscure characters. I finally bought the Avengers Assemble Black Widow. Really good figure. I can see why so many people use her head. I need to get another to make a Colleen Wing. In comic news I've been re-reading scans of X-Men issues starting right after the Giant Size issue. I've gotten up through the early Phoenix issues and stopped heading into the Hellfire Club issues. Going back through these classic issues inspired a few of the characters in this batch. I'll see who else turns up as I get through more of these issues. Mystique is there because I finally got an extra pair of female grip hands so I put those on her. Now she can finally hold firearms. Quake is there because I got a new head for her. Still not the short Hill style haircut, but I don't like that look anyway. This style I'm ok with. Now just need to finish her Caterpillars team. So, anyway, onto the rest...

Tempest - I decided to knock out a couple more Imperial Guardsmen with this batch. I started with Tempest who came out really well. Only had to sculpt the hair which took way too long. I had to redo it at least three times to get the look to come out. The paint job was actually the easiest part and I finished that way before I got around to making his head. All in all I'm more than satisfied with the results and he makes a great addition to the Guard.

Chemistro - I first saw Chemistro in an Acts of Vengeance issue of Iron Man where he turned the suit into lead. Acts was the first big arc that I actively went out of my way to try and get every issue of. I failed miserably but it was a valiant attempt. Other than his paint job the only work Chemistro required was a very slight head mod. Added the belt and pistol from a Kree figure and he's ready to join the Masters of Evil gathered on the shelf. I thought about making him another pair of arms with the wrist/hand blasters, but decided against it for now. I'll make them at a later point. Right now I just wanted to go with his more traditional look. Almost have the full cast of the EMH Masters of Evil. Still have a couple left to go.

Moses Magnum - Uncanny X-Men 118 is one of the first comics I had as a kid. I literally haven't read this issue in decades, so I was pleasantly surprised to run across this issue during my X-Men re-reads since it brought back some good memories and reintroduced Moses Magnum. Moses Magnum I actually forgot about as a character, but after stumbling on him again I knew I had to make a figure of this guy. Work wise he was very easy to complete since he's mostly just a whole lot of white paint. The collar was a bit of an annoyance and I had to sculpt a goatee onto the Marauder head that I used, but he came out well. Now I've got him complete and added to the evil Mutant shelves. To be honest I'm not even sure that he's a mutant but since I first saw him fighting the X-men and haven't seen him since, that's where he goes. For some reason he looks dirty in the pic, he's not. I just need a new camera. The one I have is over 10 years old. That's ancient for a digital camera.

The Fly - A character I know nothing about, I only decided to make The Fly after running across art of him fighting Spider-Man. That spurned me to look into the character further. I didn't read up on the character, so I only know him from the artwork. To go along with his wings he needed some light sculpt work. Speaking of the wings, they are fully functional. I took the wings from Wasp and fit them to his back and they retain the full range of motion. I have a few more old Spidey villains that I want to get made soon and a whole slew more to get to at a later date.

Hobgoblin - Hobgoblin took a bit of work to get his look right. Had to fill in the front and back of the torso to get it even then repaint the entire deal. I also had to find something suitable for the antennas (a paperclip just wasn't going to work this time, too thick) and then had to sculpt on his pointy ears. I swapped out the arms and legs as well using Ant-Man's. I'm a little over halfway thru my Imperial Guard goal. Another 6 or 7 to go and I can set that team aside for a good while before making any more.

Black Tom Cassidy - Black Tom is another classic X-Men bad guy. After reading through his issues with the Juggernaut during the run up to the Phoenix Saga I wanted to get him in figure form so I could stand him next to his classic partner the Juggernaut on the shelf. I used another Marauder head but added a lot more sculpt to this one to get Tom's scraggly haired look. The flesh tones are a bit off in the picture, but I've fixed them up since then. I should have just repainted the head entirely but I didn't feel like it. The matching paint jobs are good enough for now. Attaching his collar was a chore and took way too much effort. His belt design is ridiculous as well and was aggravating to paint. I'm glad he's done because this is a figure that should have been all kinds of simple but ended up as anything but.

White Tiger - You would think the figures only painted in white would have been the easiest, but they took a bit longer than normal since, as with painting yellow, it takes a few more coats than normal to get full and even coverage. I sculpted the necklace and lower jaw for the head. The necklace is an added accessory that is removable. I didn't want it fixed to the chest incase I ever want him in an action pose. Wanted it to be able to shift with his "motion". So now I have one of the two White Tigers that I intend to make. There's another with a trench coat look, but I have no plans to make that guy at this point. The female White Tiger will be next, though I'm still debating which of her looks to make.

Rigellian Recorder - I've had the art piece for the Rigellian Recorder for a while now. I looked it up after someone asked me if I was going to make one and I remarked that I had no clue what a "Rigellian Recorder" was. I finally got a chance to knock this character off the list. There was not much to making this one. Other than gluing down the collar I only had to do his paint job which came together very quickly. Other than Chemistro this guy took the least amount of time to complete in this batch. I still don't know a lot about the Recorders. I read a little bit online but there wasn't much. I know that the Rigellians made a lot of the Recorders (4 or 5 hundred) to cover the galaxy, but, I think I'm going to be good with just the one added to my cosmic collection.

Just to chime in on the on-going cost debate, I'm just going to say this and then bow out of the topic.

Hasbro doesn't dictate to the stores what to price items at. The store's corporate command structure does that on their own. That's why Hasbro doesn't have conniption fits when stores discount or clearance an item a week or two after they get it. Hasbro has already been paid what they want from the stores to get the product to them. What the store does with them after that is out of their hands. That's also why they don't care about scalpers or whatever you want to call them. They've made their money long before the item would even reach a scalper. If you think a product costs too much, blame the retailer. That's why Walmart put so many small stores out of business. They could afford to sell the same products at a loss that the small stores couldn't because they'd make up the difference in other areas.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention that. Carry on folks!

Augustus_Cole 08-14-2017 04:36 PM

It was a video game figurine. Only has a couple swivel joints. Arm chest and head.

That's true, but Hasbro does dictate cost. I suspect merchants double the cost for retail price. Remember when MU was hot and price started creeping up? That was all merchants. But recently the cost has increased and merchants have had less room to make the price elastic.

They use this small wire to hold a lot of parts in the bubble for playsets. I have found these make great antenna. Are you looking at Oracle yet?

I used a twist tie from the supermarket produce section. If you burn off the paper (be careful if you try this, shit lights up quick!) it leaves a thin flexible wire (used part of it for WT's necklace/amulet? What is that thing? A totem??). I doubled them over and made the antennas. As for Oracle, I'll get to her at some point. I keep going back and forth on which outfit I want to make and until I pic a design I can't get the right parts together. She's one of the remaining 6/7 though.
