So watching the panel, they did say there would be a "full line" of BP figures coming in Spring 2018 so hopefully that means this wave is not the actual BP film wave.

Have you ever had a TRU employee promise to hold an item for you, only to drive way out of your way to find out she never even checked the shelf? ....I have!

Luckily they were nice enough to offer to FedEx the Dark Pheonix pack from another store on the other side of the state. She called 2 other stores that had them listed in their system, but MIA in the building. They are either stolen or stashed away.

They did have the new GOTG wave at $15, and the Spidey/Ironman pack... so it wasn't all bad.

Archangel 07-22-2017 08:52 PM

That Mysterio is a must have. I need to complete my OG Sinister Six!

hasbroherofan 07-22-2017 09:15 PM

Heels on these figures are the devil. I still can't get that stupid Mandroid wave Black Widow to stand without using a display base.

I think that's just gonna be the separate non-Legends line most of the films get. Ya know, Titan Heroes, those crappy little two inch figures and what not.

I wasn't looking for every figure to be MCU(that would be naïve), but Black Panther is my favorite hero, and be it comic or MCU I would have purchased figures connected to him. This wave is just no good. The only positive is if we are getting at least one MCU figure my wallet is happier.

Exactly.

I don't know, she said it right after the Namor reveal during the Marvel Legends portion of the panel. It certainly seemed to be implying there would be more ML Black Panther figures. But I never thought they would be so dense as to produce a BP wave like this either so what do I know.

SymbiSpidey 07-22-2017 09:20 PM

I'm just so happy I almost have a full classic Sinister Six team.

Happy with the TB Doc Ock, I've got Electro, Sandman, and Kraven. And now we're getting Mysterio. I also have Vulture but unfortunately he's not the classic version...

Parademon1 07-22-2017 09:20 PM

I have yet to see actual pics of the figures announced today as I just got outta work. But one thing I am happy about is that the prices on Ebay that the scalpers have been charging for VHTF figures such as the Hydra soldiers, SDCC Luke Cage, Black Bolt & Medusa to name a few, will now drop like a rock as no one is gonna pay em those overpriced amounts they have been asking for these figures the past few yrs.

Classic Deathlok is way overdue as the 1st one by TB was small & lanky. 1st app swim trunks Namor is alos long overdue as the 1st few attempts at classic Namor by both TB/Hasbro have been utter failures. I didn't buy the Walgreens Namor cuz it sports his modern look & I've always been a fan of his 1st app look. I hope they put him on the right buck? Any pics of him out there?

I'm stoked over that classic Mr Fantastic figure! I like the BW with Bike but if the classic vintage version is comic book accurate, that will be my go to Widow purchase. BAF Lizard looks great, I just hope he isn't too large.

As far as the disappointment over the BP wave, I have to ask, is it because of the BP movie trailer that came out and it showed all the MCU Wakanda related characters & none made it in the wave?

Answer truthfully, how many of you here have actually ever read BP comics from the 60's till now? I bet less than 20% of you can say you have. The vast majority of you just know of BP due to his appearance in CW. News flash for you MCU fans, the Panther's list of villians & allies in the comics that are actually popular or relevant is very small. His female bodyguards have hardly ever been a centerpiece for comic stories that I have read. His major arch-villain's list consists of like 3, with Klaw being the most famous followed by Man-Ape & Kilmonger. I would buy all 3 if re-done.

BP to me, has always been an Avenger and then a solo hero. He needs female BGs about as much as he needs suntan lotion while swimming in the Wakandan beach.

BP, Falcon, Deathlok, Luke Cage, Storm, Bishop & WarMachine are 7 all time favorite classic comic superheroes of mine & I want all 7 done in action figure form in their classic duds. But all of them combined don't have as many rogues villians as Ironman, Cap, Spidey or the Hulk have alone. So when I hear people complaining that the BP wave sucks, I ask why? Cuz the MCU actors arent' in it?

I took it as one wave of figures under the Black Panther mantle. Namor and Black Bolt are the comic figures that can be revealed now, and the rest of the wave will be MCU. Similar to how at last year's SDCC, Angela, Nova, and Darkhawk of the Guardians of the Galaxy wave were shown, but the rest of the MCU figures were held back until later.

No, but the other day one of my local TRU managers came up to me to ask if I still needed the Dark Phoenix pack because he had put one aside for me when he saw them come off the truck.

No, I have never read a stand alone Black Panther comic, but that is not the issue I have with the wave. My issue is that Blackbolt and Namor have nothing to do with Black Panther, and therefore, do not belong in it. They should be in a Fantastic Four wave, which is what they might as well have called this considering Black Panther premiered in FF.

Also, people complain how they don't make enough diverse super hero figures, so this was the golden opportunity to do that. Instead, Hasbro is given us a lot of white characters.

En Sabah Nerd 07-22-2017 09:36 PM

Mysterio is my pick for MVP from the Legends this year. Might have looked better with the gold gauntlets and boots but the green is the classic way to do things.
Apocalypse is a BAF... Fuck you Hasbro.
What was up with the Thanos tease? He had the Infinity Gauntlet but the toy was just his modern design BAF from the AoU wave so that immediately bothers me a lot. Is he a deluxe exclusive or part of a multipack somehow? Was it just a tease to tell us that they're making another Thanos?

Dr Kain 07-22-2017 09:37 PM

Why do people keep saying Mysterio should have gold gauntlets? I have the 100 issue Stan Lee run of Spidey and he never had gold gauntlets.

My first thought is that he'll be part of the SDCC 2018 Marvel Legends exclusive. Fits their M.O.

Tomax 07-22-2017 09:44 PM

i mentioned the gold color is cuz the oldschool mysterio fig had gold gloves and boots. plus it just looks better with the contrast colors

redfox 07-22-2017 10:06 PM

Just realized that, in the panel, the shot of Black Widow leaning against her bike is displaying the short-bobbed Samnee head/hair sculpt!! :D Can't wait for Hasbro to send out those official panel pics, so we can all see the details!

True. Nobody considered the entirely arbitrary "You're not a true fan because blah!" clause when discussing this, obviously. ;)

I'm guessing they'll do the Thanos as a single-card release or as part of a combo pack of some kind. Hopefully it's something I can skip, as I have no need to pick it up.

Yup. That and I can't really imagine there's all that much demand for a Namor figure anyway. Every Walgreens I go to is filled with Namors and Black Ants.

Part of the disappointment with the wave comes from the fact that the movie features a predominantly non-white cast which is a big step toward equality in Hollywood. And seeing that the first two figures in the wave are white guys, white kings no less, is disappointing in that regard. The other part comes from the rumored lists a while back which stated that the BP wave would have several Illuminati members instead of people associated with BP. Black Bolt and Namor, who were shown today, are two members of the Illuminati which doesn't bode well for the remainder of the wave.

I'll admit right now that I've never read any Black Panther comics but I'm not totally without knowledge of the character. For characters related to Black Panther, comic versions of T'Challa's sister Shuri as Black Panther, M'Baku the Man Ape, and Klaw would help fill out the wave nicely. Plus they're all in the movie. If you want bigger names, then Storm, the Human Torch, and the Thing could be included. T'Challa was married to Storm for a while and they both served as members of the Fantastic Four when Reed and Sue left the team after Civil War.

hasbroherofan 07-22-2017 10:30 PM

The Ragnarok trailer makes me sad we never got a Surtur baf. Especially during the ToyBiz era.

Parademon1 07-22-2017 10:43 PM

So far that's 2 honest answers about about who's even read a BP comic. As I stated before; if not for his appearance in CW & upcoming solo movie; none of you supposed BP fans would be clamoring for a wave of BP figures & woulda been more than content with his Walmart classic figure. Which I still don't have cuz it's sold out! @#$%&! I want that figure! Is that classic Namor coming with an alternate non beard head cuz I hate Namor with facial hair. That Deathlok is a thing of beauty!

There was a recent cosmic wave leak that Thanos appeared on, so it would not surprise me of that was the tease was all about. Thanos will probably be reissued as a single figure release with the gauntlet arm as an accessory in a manner similar to the Groot BAF that was done earlier this year.

@ DrKain: You asked earlier about what Deathlok had to do with Deadpool, and it probably has something to do with the fact that Deathlok was a part of X-Force for a while and was a teammate .

Parademon1 07-22-2017 10:54 PM

A cosmic wave better include a re-release of Gladiator! I want that sumbitch!

Now, as someone who has met the arbitrary standard required to talk about superhero toys, I can say, unequivocally this wave sucks!:p

It's funny because you think they'd tease the movie version they're inevitably gonna do. I don't know anyone who cares about buying the BAF again.

Anyway, looks like the villains in the Captain Marvel movie will be the Skrulls. Wonder if that's part of the reason for the Super-Skrull figure we're supposedly getting.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DFYajDEUMAA6Sqh.jpg

Parademon1 07-22-2017 11:11 PM

Exactly.
Now if they did a classic comic version of Thanos; I'd be all over that like a fly on caca!

Yes I'm hoping we get them in the morning. And I'm really glad they went with the Samnee design.

While I personally prefer the classic green there are many instances where his gauntlets at least were gold. Modern comics sometimes (I know they were gold when he was in Daredevil), the '90s cartoon, various merchandise, and the Avengers Alliance game have him with gold or yellow gauntlets and/or gloves. Like Tomax said it adds a bit more color to the overall costume so I wouldn't have been against gold being used here.
