Mcu BP,mcu supporting cast ONLY one, and the rest of the wave BP comic based characters would be most feasible |

The implication is there every time someone points out that Black Bolt and Namor are two white guys, and mention the lack of diversity in the wave. People are also quick to point out characters that fit the diversity bill that should be in the wave, but over look the other reasons why Hasbro might have chosen more popular heroes to put in the wave instead. But I don't think what's happening here is any different than Doctor Strange's wave, which was filled out with 3 different versions of Strange himself and 3 comic book characters who only kinda sorta are related to Strange because they also do magic, but probably got made because Hasbro felt they'd be better themed here than making other side characters from Dr. Strange's history like movie/comic Wong or a comic Cleo. It's called the Dr. Strange wave, but the truth was it was really a "Magic and Mysticism wave featuring Dr. Strange", much like this Black Panther wave is really the "Illuminati wave featuring Black Panther". |
That Apocalypse is fantastic!
I really hope we get a new Gambit in that wave. Be cool to get a variant of him as the Death Horseman like in the comics. I also want Nate Grey/X-Man! New Mr. Sinister. Beast. Psylocke! Magneto worth having. The Black Panther wave everyone is arguing about. I wouldn't have bought any of the MCU Black Panther figures, just don't care. I will buy Black Bolt and Namor though!! Few friend collectors will also but couldn't care less about Black Panther MCU. I mean seriously, a random character from Black Panther MCU or the Black Bolt figure that I've wanted since the Comic Con exclusive came out a few years ago...... BLACK BOLT! |
Apparently, Hasbro has released the stills online from yesterday's panel. Hopefully Toyark will have them up soon.
Also for those interested, Diamond Select Toys is having their toy panel @ 3:00. I know some folks supplement their Legends with the larger Marvel Select figures. |

Again I'll say I will be surprised if mainstream media doesn't pick up on this one. |

Furthermore, from my understanding, BP is a fairly recent member of the Illuminati, no? He wasn't part of the initial roster. Furthermore, that iteration of the Illuminati doesn't even exist in the comics anymore. And to top it all off, when Namor was part of the team he was wearing his modern costume, not the classic one, which is what we're getting. |

i agree !!! just because the character and movie is about a black character and cast doesn't necessarily mean every toy in the wave needs to be a black action figure and or character. as i said in my prior post it is odd to have those two particular characters in the BP wave, however hasbro is looking at the business prospective of things. some people will buy black bolt and some will buy namor. that's just how it is. once again this is a TOY LINE for CHILDREN. not men in their mid 20s to late 40s.... it just so happens some of us middle age guys like these and collect these too. |

3 Deadpools in the Deadpool wave with the other 4 characters. Can't wait to see who the BAF will be

It'd be easier to list the characters who haven't been Avengers. Avengers membership isn't special enough to justify filling an entire wave with Avengers characters unless it's a Cap or Avengers wave. |

Let it also be known that I'm very excited to have updated versions of the core Illuminati members (we still need an updated Professor X), but I think they could have been included elsewhere. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to classic Namor being the sole Illuminati member in the BP wave as I don't know where else you'd fit him unless he gets his own movie. Black Bolt and Medusa could have easily been a two-pack. We already have probably hundreds of Iron-Men out and none of the comic ones are particularly great. Regardless, Hasbro clearly has no shortage of ways of shoehorning Iron-Man in somewhere if they need to.

As for Nate, 100% AoA! |
Also holy shit, I didn't realize how dirt cheap the Abomination wave is, which is pretty funny considering I've only seen it like once at retail.
Secret Wars Cap is like 4 bucks on Amazon, and Eel is 9. I might have to pull the trigger on that. |

What is so odd about Namor and Black Bolt being in the wave? Hasbro expressed it as clear as day yesterday during the panel. They picked out two characters, whom like Black Panther, were kings of their respective nations. Black Bolt being the king of the Inhumans and Namor being the King of Atlantis.
Characters that have spotty tie ins to other characters are released all the time. Iron Fist isn't a magician and Enchantress has little to do with Dr. Strange. Misty Knight doesn't have much to do with Spider-Man. Bulldozer and Tiger Shark don't solo battle Ant Man on a regular basis last I checked. Outside of being a street hero, what does Moon Knight have to do with Spider-Man? Again, Black Bolt and Namor are part of the wave. They were picked because like Black Panther...they are kings. Hasbro made this very clear during their presentation. They were probably also picked because as a few have stated, sales will more likely be better for these two than if they were to hand pick some side character from BP's gallery, because honestly, those characters are not as well known as some would like to believe. I'm sure that the Inhumans television show also played a hand in the selection, as we are also getting a re-release of Medusa as well. Marvel doesn't want the group that was supposed to "phase out" the X-Men to bomb miserably, especially with all the negative press on Inhumans as is from the community, as well as with Fox going full head of steam with their own mutant plans. I'm also willing to bet that if a new Dr Doom, himself a leader of a nation and thus would fit in with the "king" theme Hasbro was talking about, was a part of this wave, there would be a lot less complaining, but that's neither here nor there. You don't have to like it, but it is what it is. It's also not this huge racial conspiracy either. Just simply business and marketing decisions. If the BP movie is a runaway success, then I'm sure we'll see more characters included at some point. If it's a bomb, Hasbro will simply thank their lucky stars that they dodged a bunch of possible peg-warming bullets, as well as spare us the "joy" of seeing pegs full of M'baku lining the aisles for months while we search for the newest X-men wave, complaining all the while that our stores aren't doing enough to get new product on the shelves. Let's move on... |
