^I like the sculpt of that hulk a lot..just wish it was more articulate. And I think it was just a little bit too veiny. But despite that it's still my favorite
|
I completely agree with Phantomcrow, MS makes the "larger than life characters' fit almost perfectly with the ML heroes and villains, I wish they'd do lots more!
|
Shame selects are limited by marvel so they cannot as articulation. It seems Mavel loves us so much, they are willing to deny us awesome articulation to go along with the Selects awesome sculpts.

You know I just remember when the Walmart Avengers Exclusive Legends came out, I only saw them once, dang I hope the same doesn't happen with the X-Men TRU ones....
|
TRU for the X-Men Line huh? That sucks. TRU here (there's several in Nashville area) have been pretty barren for years. I would want a Jubliee figure but not wit this BAF set. I'll pass. I would like to find some way to get the Stryfe and Storm though. But I really need another Magneto, Wolverine and Cyclops like I need lyme disease.

As for the Hulk, he fluctuates between 6'6" (Mr. Fix-it) and 8'8" (Green Scar). I can live with the varying heights/scales of the Legends Hulks because they are within range (for the most part). The Select Hulk tracks too large as far as I'm concerned. Next to the Legends figures, I would place the Select Hulk at roughly 10'. That's the size of Sasquatch. The Hulk has never been that large (this is coming from a long-term heavy-duty Hulk fan....I luvs me some Hulk). Unless you count the Ang Lee version of the Hulk in that first film who approached heights that looked to be nearly 20'! That's just silly....although I'm one of the few who liked that movie. We are all aware that comicbook artists take liberties with the portrayal of heroes both from the illustrative and editorial (pencils and story-writing) perspective. In comics, Cap is sometimes nearly as big as Thor. Batman, at times stands even with Supes. Add to this the psychology of fandom and the tendency that people have to elevate those heroes they personally prefer and you get a wide spectrum of interpretations. As collectors we use rubrics that work for us personally as a counter-measure for the "scale" problems we find in these figs. With that in mind, I have created a short list of Legends and Select figs that I have scale issues with (aside from the ones I mentioned above): ML Wonder Man - Toy Biz (too small) ML Captain Britain - Toy Biz (too small) ML Vision - Hasbro (too small) ML Wolverine - Hasbro/all the figs released in the last 2yrs (too big) ML Nightcrawler - Toy Biz (too big...the ultimate ver. was perfect) ML Iron Man - Hasbro/all except the "Bleeding Edge" (too small) ML Puck - Hasbro (too small) ML Gremlin - Toy Biz * comes with Mecha-hulk* (way too small) ML Titanium Man - Hasbro (too small) ML Silver Surfer - Hasbro (too small) ML Bishop - Toy Biz (too big) ML Savage She-Hulk - Hasbro (too small) ML Kang - Toy Biz (too small) ML Doc Samson - Hasbro (slightly too big) ML Beast *original* - Toy Biz (too big) ML Annihilus - Hasbro (slightly too big) ML Terrax - Hasbro (slightly too big) ML Kree Soldier - Hasbro (slightly too small) MS Juggernaut - Diamond (way too big)...although it is best sculpt ever in either line MS Uatu - Diamond (too small) This list is subjective and nit-picky, but these are my opinions we are talking about here... |
I agree with the Wolverine, I wish they would make the comic book accurate where he's only 5'5 or so instead of Hugh Jackman size Wolverine.

The Toy Biz Astonishing Wolverine from the Apocalypse line is (IMO) the best Wolverine. When you stand the fig. next to other ML's he is considerably shorter... PS: the Face-off Wolverine is also great for the same reason....short with powerful build. |
I decided to change the paint on the neck of the Black Widow figure and now it's almost exactly the same color as the face!
All I did was add some Model Masters brass to the skin tone mix and put a very thin coat of paint on it. What do you think? :D (The color looks much better without the flash, so I will take a new picture after the photo box is set up) http://i1051.photobucket.com/albums/...5/DSCN0405.jpg |

The Gods have shined upon me, today!
Hello to all...long story short...the boss let me off early...Yes! Decided to go on the hunt for ML...went to Burlington...nothing, but some good MU 2 packs...needed to buy wind shield wipers and a toy for my dog at Wal-Mart...got both, then headed for the toy section of the store hoping to find something...found the new ML Spider Woman...Happy Fishing...and, I must say, in hand, she is small but look really great, I am impressed, really...
