The video in question is here.
https://www.facebook.com/plugins/vid...07688719080%2F

They talk about the fate of the 3.75 inch line in the last few minutes. Basically the same argument we've heard before, that the 6" line takes priority because it's more popular and that it's difficult to try and do two deep collector-oriented lines in differing scales.

He does say that there's a chance the line will see a resurgence "when there's a hunger for it," but the problem is I don't know how you can possibly gauge demand for a line when there's virtually no product. However he did say that it's likely we'll still see exclusives and cited the movie two-packs. Maybe there's gonna be a Black Panther two-pack after all. The Homecoming two-pack was revealed separately from the rest of the Homecoming line, right?

teddyboy09 09-10-2017 06:18 AM

That's the sad part.

A few years ago 3.75" Marvel was rocking and rolling without 6" Legends. The 6" Legends came back because they were so popular and there was a demand for it. Now that the tables are turned and 3.75" is the one disappearing, I can't imagine there being much demand seeing as it's going up against the more popular 6" line. It's just sad that they're pitting two lines of different scales against each other.

ukmu 09-10-2017 07:47 AM

I am reminded of En Sabah Nerd's signature pic. "When the wine is gone, the party is over. That's the rule."

If they were looking at opportunities for exclusives, why not Comic Con or their own HasCon? No accounts, no contracts, no retail shelves to fill or dreaded pegs to warm, no advertising....Just a small token and nod to the fan.

Something doesn't smell right to me about his statements.

done. i shall roll-out a customized piece which a ML collector sold to me due to broken spikes on it's body. not very obvious flaws though, but he was kind enough to drop the price significantly & i sincerely thank him for that. the best thing is... when i compared the comic size it scales exactly with MU size! without peerless exhaust smoke, here is Rulk-Venom-Rider -

please note that i added a Macfarlane Spawn Violator Chopper to it as it fits the figure to a T (plus nothing available comes close in scale to the comic version... yet), plus a pair of wings just for hell-venly fun! :DBZ2

Absolutely E-V-I-L, Nut! Absolutely EVIL!

And it's not the lighting that I meant, it's your diorama itself. Like massive scaled dioramas like previous SDCC Marvel Universe dioramas, the Midnight Sons diorama is similar in that the longer I look at it the more I discover the fine details.
Seriously, a great diorama. Rather than Arkers searching for 3.75 MU news (or lack of), they will easily be delighted to find great and inspirational pictures of dioramas and customs.

Nut has already given us our 3.75 MU Legendary Riders which surpasses the recent official 6" ML line on many levels.

Harbinger 09-10-2017 08:50 AM

Ill just say it...... Vast majority of those who i know and kbew who collected 3.75 stopped due to radically ricockulous price increases lack of gear and when the essentially 5 poa'ed everything and the price went up to 12 plus..... That was a factor. Couple that with near non-exsistant retail presence and hasbro ( by hasbro i mean stall ) effectively killed the line.

I miss the reasobly priced, properly articulated mu figs and i would love em to return proper. I call bs on stalls statement that running two lines is not " feasible" or what not. Price the damn things at 7 bucks, give back the artic and gear, merge movie and comic lines, properly case pack ( no bs short packs etc ), and they will sell. Hell i collect legends NOW cause up until the hit monkey wave or so the legends selection sucked. And even then only rshulk, punisher hawkeye and dp were what caught my intrest.

And its funny cause now legends is doing 6" garbage movie figs......just like what 3.75 did....sooooo.

Guess hasbro doesnt learn from its mistakes...they just up the scale.

Alright, there just may be light at the end of the tunnel...I know many of us are down with the two-packs not just for value but for potential new releases like Skurge this year. Plus news of them last year were last-minute and surprises than full on announcements.

Thanks for posting. At the 9:50 mark they discuss our line... I'll take "resting" the line over cancelling it any day. I love the response to the last question, the marvelicious guy says regarding the 3.75" reveals at SDCC "something's missing?" and stall just gives a fake laugh lol good stuff

I'm still holding out hope that there's a little bit of liquid at the bottom of the bottle and we can sit around shaking the bottle like jackasses trying to make sure it's really empty.

Thanks for the heads up Villano! I just got the wave in yesterday... I've opened magneto so far, great figure. One of my kids was like "why does he have socks on his head?" Lol... I may cut the braids and keep it as my main magneto.. so for he's my favorite magneto in our scale, even with the reduced articulation he just has that proud physical presence that the master of magnet deserves.

Prem1x 09-10-2017 10:50 AM

The 4" line being rested is fine. I'm ready for the them to stop selling us crap and do a re-launch in the future. But how will they gauge interest when they've let 4" dwindle to nothing with crap case packouts and simultaneous cost cuts and price increases.

Also, I don't know if 4" is the less-popular scale across the board but definitely for Marvel it is. But probably only because of the nostalgia for Legends and the missteps that MU took.

Even outside Marvel though, a Kickstarter like Zombie Labs only drew 500+ people while the Fwoosh AI ninja one drew 1200+ people.

Captain Nash 09-10-2017 11:05 AM

Being "rested" ugh. Okay so you know when the MCU movies are over in 2-3 years they'll revamp this line and start selling it again as the in thing. What will suck is they will once again start with the core characters that long term collectors already have. Maybe throw in a new character every 2-3 waves. I'll be waiting though, I count the day I can expand this line because I know that at some point 6 inch legends days are numbered. Nothing lasts forever.

MUfan97 09-10-2017 11:45 AM

At least I still have a lot of backlog to get to.

Still, it's kinda sad. The only 3.75 inch lines that I'll be collecting that still pumps out figures is gonna be Star Wars and Batman 66(and whatever else Funko pumps out that grabs my interest).

Don't see why they can't keep the two packs going, though. I mean, $20 for two of them when a single carded figure is $14 nowadays isn't bad.

Well, I know Star Wars seems to still do a good amount of focus on the 3.75 inch scale, but that's probably because the Black Series so far has left a lot to be desired.

But yeah I have noticed 6" becoming more of a standard for other collectibles, like the S.H. Figuarts.

On the other hand just check Vitruvian HACKS and their wave after wave of hugely popular 3.75 inch scale figures. Their first KS campaign got them 1200 supporters as well so the interest in the scale is probably comparable.

ukmu 09-10-2017 01:14 PM

For a lot of people Star Wars is and always will be a 3.75" thing.

LoL, socks on his head.

There most definitely WILL be a return.

Even 6" all but died once. Everything is cyclical, going away only to return.

Great editing Nut, you get the GOLD star for the day!

I will watch the Circle Of Four video tomorrow. Thanks.

Also, glad you lot are sticking this out with me.... I will be here for years to come making bad jokes, dropping profanity at the wrong time and writing long winded rants that go nowhere. I have however, made a dramatic effort to properly space paragraphs and work on my grammar and writing etiquette so as to cradle the reader into a sence of serenity..... bitches.

BeRealNickNaro 09-10-2017 02:19 PM

I think one of the big problems is there aren't any other mainstream companies doing 1/18 scale figures. So Hasbro can let MU slowly die. They let GIJoe fade. I bet they wish they could can Star Wars 4" as well, but they know they can't make a 6" scale Falcon.

Honestly, I was getting to the point now where I was right before Toybiz ended the original Legends line: is not interested in most of the releases and I really just want Hasbro to give us new molds that match the Legends quality and diversity and update the main characters on them. (I know that's not a universal feeling).

The other problem is, if Hasbro isn't doing 1/18, who's going to bring it back BUT then? I feel like other companies followed their lead into 1:18 when Star Wars and Joe were strong. But now Legends is strong (according to Hasbro), so that's where companies are going to go as well. Not to mention, hardly anything is even getting a toyline these days.

MUfan97 09-10-2017 03:16 PM

New legends await, but old lessons must be remembered. This, is the way...Of the Bionicl-uh, MU.

I just think it's easy to say 6" sells well when that seems to be all they offer. I can go to almost any store and find a shit ton of 6" legends on deep clearance. It's a self fulfilling prophecy as Vonner would say.

Anyway, I don't believe it is a surprise to anyone. I am sure we will lose about 30% of our die hard collectors. It is inevitable, it is the nature of collecting. They call it that for a reason and not "looking at old crap you already own-ing." So at least eBay prices should tank and we can buy stuff even cheaper. I am sure the customs for cash market will see a short increase but will level out to all but dead by spring, sorry Pilk. I am sure a year from now this thread will be at a crawl like MUCC is now. Maybe a page a week...Maybe. Same will happen here,as signs point to it already on a slow and steady decline.

That isn't to discredit the outstanding members we have now that are active, especially our newer members that contribute so much. So those of you that have been here a few years or more, have definitely seen the older heavyweights either take flight or slow to a trickle of posting. I mean AshRock, raf323, Ursa Prime, Lord Marvel, and several others that were HUGE in this thread back in the day and major contributors to the larger community as a whole, have ALL sold up and moved on. All we have left from those days is Jackie Boy, and he is an asshole! (Just kidding mate, an asshole that I love dearly by the way!) Not to mention the countless others that have downsized to a smaller core collection and are content with a small representation of the former MU glory and no longer post. We few, we happy few. We band of bothers....remain. I mean ALL of this in a happy positive vibe as well, not being a Debbie Downer at all, just pointing out that the writing has been on the wall for a LONG LONG time. I wasn't there at the beginning, but I am damn proud to be here at the end....With you, my friends.

We will join the ranks of GI Joe fans now Marvel 3.75" family. All dressed up and no where to go. Most of us here collect multiple lines, or even other Marvel scales but there are some of us, myself included, that THIS is it. Marvel 3.75" and that is all. I am of the mindset that I am glad it is over as opposed to putting out crap. I dabble a bit in the new Star Wars 5 poa stuff, but this is mostly because it is available and able to "hunt" it down. I could honestly take it or leave it. I have only gotten Old Man Like from Episode 8 and am somewhat on the fence about jumping in and making a commitment to the TIME, MONEY and SPACE the new line will entail. So now, I would rather have nothing than buckshot figures that look good next to the older stuff and towards the end no longer even scaled well either. For me, I am ok...what does it mean to you?

I feel bad for Oscar now. He finally finished his beautiful new room. Filled it up with the one thing he collects. Completes the collection, and now they end it. I know he has armies to build and Pilk is practically his neighbour but still. Which poses the question.... once the "collection" is complete and the factory no longer make them, are we still COLLECTORS or are we something else entirely? This question has been in my head for hours this morning. Can one be a collector and yet not collect anything?

I know you can sit back and admire your hoard, but that seems like more of retirement than active collecting. I mean Sugar Ray Leonard still has money and his memories, but we don't still call him a fighter! So does this make us ex-collectors? This is what I have seriously been contemplating for several hours as I go about my lazy gray Sunday.

What do you guys think.... I am dying to know.

Lastly, I believe with 2018 looming that whole "Marvel 3.75 license was renewed by HASBRO" may be all bullshit. Two things to look at, as stated just today above and many have known this for five years, David Vonner said "they have enough of my work to last until 2017." We have known 2017 was the final year of their contract with pre-Disney Marvel..... Maybe they are playing the long game to get a better deal with the Mouse, or perhaps they stepped aside and have made room for someone else to take over next year. A small subscription based service with one or two figures a month at the highest level of quality, articulation and accessories. Someone big in the independent scene maybe? No box stores, no middle men and $20 per figure (maybe more as the Mouse will want his cut) say $25 for a BAD ASS figure that we the fans can vote on each year???? Maybe, time will tell.

now why is this fool calling moi an asshole?

Jay West 09-10-2017 05:20 PM

Of course we talk about how upset we are about 3.75 MU dying, but hey Hasbro literally owns what could be argued to be most famous 3.75 line of all time and they let GI Joe die. There are companies that would kill to make 3.75 Joes. Of course what probably is the most famous 3.75 line - Star Wars - has been treated like crap for a while, but does have a well sculpted 5 POA line and an upcoming SA line coming. So that Hasbro can even spell Marvel 3.75 Action Figure is probably a miracle.

Yeah, there is that. And a lot of it DOES move at full price. They must make a killing on 6" at the end of the day, and the market tells them (and other companies as well) "Hey, we'll give you $20 for ONE figure. If Legends had totally died at that price point, they'd either be cheaper, or they'd be the less dominant brand. MU started to really die once they jumped to $13, especially when you factor in the lesser articulation. We could totally talk all day about whether that was malicious (it certainly seems so) but if MU kept chugging along at that price, it would still have a strong presence.
