Oh damn! I haven't seen what it looks like without the front piece, but using it as his Champions bike is a great idea!

Hasbro works to make the figure look different at least.

Oh yeah, and it sounds like TRU over sold the A-Force set and are canceling orders in no order.

I doubt it's in "no order," it may just seem that way. It's likely based on what order the orders were placed in. It sucks that they do appear to have oversold this, I'm hoping they'll go back to production and make more for those that missed out.

In other news, I scored a build a figure Man Thing on a Facebook group. I didn't really want the whole wave just Bullseye and Blade. I'm pretty excited to have gotten him for a good price

I'm still awaiting my Man-thing (the figure) lol from dorkside.... im not sure why it hasn'y went out yet, considering some people have already had the entire wave shipped to them already.

wow, good eye on the drax/radioman head sculpt, never noticed that

Thanks. I do hope that more people can end up with this set, just as I hope that the sales on this set justify something similar (in larger quantities, natch) next year. I will gladly spend $100+ on a set if it's a good set, and this was a good set.

Looking as closely as I can at the pics I took, it appears to be painted on.

Using it for an Eddie Brock head is genius. I never would've thought of that.

In regards to the talk of parts reuse, I'm generally okay with it, since as a result it gets us a lot more characters that would be less likely to hit shelves if they had new tooling, more specifically a lot more second- and third-tier characters (and lower). Hell, The Eel was one of my favorite figures from last year, and he didn't have a single unique part beyond his paint scheme.

It does grind on me a little when it's really egregious (the Captain Britain head, and the Taskmaster head, in the Hydra two-pack), but for the most part, I'll take some parts reuse if it means a wider variety to choose from. Outside of the X-waves (whole case or bust!), I'm a choosy collector, so I'd rather have a larger pool to pick potential purchases from.

Starting next year I'm probably going to pull away focus on waves and just get the individual figures I want, unless the BAF completely blows me away (and Dorkside has a way to cover for that, bless them!) This obviously doesn't pertain to X-waves as they could put that line out for a good 2-3 years without getting any further than second tier characters, and much more than that if they want to go deeper. And as I've said, even though I love so much of Marvel, the X-Men corner is truly where my heart is.

I pulled back this year on several waves. Marvel Legends are great figures but it's harder to justify buying figures you don't care about, especially if it's some third string villain or characters from alternate dimensions that have only appeared in one storyline.

So anyways, what's everyone's thoughts on the gladiator hulk BAF? to be honest he doesn't do it for me. he doesnt look mean enough with this figure, same goes with the select version too. the one that caught my eye was one of the photos from SDCC, it was either from mondo or mezco toys. the only problem is how out of scale would theirs be compared to legends?

The Gladiator Hulk you're talking about is part of Mezco's One:12 Collective line. They're pretty comparable to Marvel Legends, except for the cloth costumes.

If the ML division works like Transformers, then they have a set budget that breaks down to each wave having a single total cost; so the wave has a budget that can be spread out (equally or not) across the wave. So expensive new movie molds added costs would be offset by using already existing molds in the rest of the wave to offset costs and maintain their wave budget.

It's also probable that the more waves, the thinner the budget gets, the less they can spend in total on each wave.

They really seem to be stuck in this weird position; fans want so many figures right now! and there's movies and TV shows to capitalize on in a timely fashion, and so forth that they're stuck between trying to appease a lot (Disney/Marvel who they've got the license from, the Vendors, and the fans) and somethings got to give at points.

Personally Ulik and Borr.

On another note, I decided to just pre-order the Ragnarok wave from BBTS; for a case, the price per figure is under retail, let alone with my state sales tax added in, and I've already got a POL going anyway, so shipping is virtually a non-issue as well.

Just gotta find the Thor/Valkyrie 2-pack, which if the past ones are any indication of, shouldn't be an issue at all to find, knock on wood.

I am so freaking glad that is a Target exclusive. Target is the only store in my local area that actually stocks their exclusives and fairly quickly. I am betting with two weeks of it first hitting the states it will be in at least one of the three nearby targets.

Just as I'd talked myself down off of my abject and utter disdain for MCU figs...you validate my previous stance on the matter. ;)

Well, at least you've provided the framework for what was just an intuition that no extra dollars were being spent to bring us "more Marvel Legends than ever before."

This info cements my opinion that fewer figs should be offered and that Hasbro be even more thoughtful as to whom they include in future waves...I don't want long awaited characters to receive short shrift.

I said before but I think 2018 is gonna be a bit of a mess for them. They've got three movies to make figures for (at least one of which is gonna definitely justify multiple waves as we've seen in the past) plus the requisite X-Men and Spider-Man waves the retailers and fans have come to expect, and of course others like the Deadpool wave and the various box sets and store exclusives.

I figured that was part of the reason why we're seeing rereleases of former box set exclusives now, especially for something like the Thor wave where you had three gorgeous-looking movie figures and then Odinson, where they didn't even try. Though Ares was a bit more justified since from what I can tell there are a lot of people who missed out on the BAF that wanted him.

I actually figure (ha) that's why we're at one wave per year for characters like X-Men.

You and me both. The War Machine last year was very easy to track down.

Finally got my Marvel Knights Legends! I gotta say...it's kind of a mixed bag:

http://i.imgur.com/IfclEvj.jpg

Okay, well not really. It's actually a damn good wave of figures, especially if you're into the Netflix stuff like I am. The problem is that the figure I was looking forward to 2nd most (behind Bullseye) kind of turned out to be a fail IMO. I'm sure you can figure out from that picture which one it is.

Hasbro's faceprinting on the live action figures is absolutely superb I must say. It almost rivals SHFiguarts, it's THAT good. I am thoroughly impressed with how Jessica Jones and Punisher came out. They look just like Krysten Ritter and Jon Bernthal, you can't mistake them for anybody else. Daredevil too. Though he's wearing a mask, you can totally tell it's Charlie Cox under there. Not sure how much Elektra looks like Elodie Yung on that unmasked face. That being said, it DOES look like Elektra, so it works for me. As far as Bullseye goes, I absolutely love him. I don't own the ToyBiz version but now I don't really need to. He's leaps and bounds ahead of that version IMO. I love that classic "gun pointing" hand and both head sculpts are great.

As for Man Thing...Just look at him. He reminds me of the Groot figure in that every time you look at him, it seems like new details are popping up, especially with the awesome wash applied to the figure. Some of these figures have some really tight joints though, so I'm gonna have to apply some hairdryer action.

My disappointment with the wave stems entirely from Blade and really it's just one aspect of the figure that really kills it for me. I love the sculpting on the upper body, as well as the two heads. The vest has this really nice texture to it. My problem is within the lower body. You see the way he's posed in my picture? That's my best attempt to stand him up straight. He can't do it for shit. His ass is sculpted in such a way where you can't put the hips further back than that, so he's always either leaning over (which means he can't stand because the ankle movement on those boots is just terrible) or he looks like he's ready for a twerking competition. What the hell, Hasbro?! I usually don't get this picky with my figures, but it's a HUGE issue on Blade and it sucks because if that one problem wasn't there, I would be all over this figure.

Overall, solid wave but....Blade :(

hasbroherofan 07-26-2017 01:45 PM

I feel your pain. Figures that can't stand up straight without a base are the bane of my existence. How does this not get picked up by QC?

And it's such an obvious design flaw too...I don't get it.

agree...
i love this particular wave...
i did NOT love blades body sculpt..
in fact his body is my only critique of the entire wave..

this is an ASS KICKING wave!!!

i keep wanting to do photo shoots..
but when i have the time to do photo shoots..
i don't feel like doing photo shoots..

Man, that's a bummer. Aside from Jessica and Man-Thing himself, Blade was the only one I had major interest in getting. On the verge of making a Neo-Midnight Sons display (Ghost Rider, Morbius, Elsa Bloodstone, Brother Voodoo, and Doctor Strange).

I wanted to do the same thing myself. My favorite part of the Marvel Universe is the street level and supernatural stuff (outside of X-Men of course) so I really wanted Blade to go with Moon Knight, Daredevil, Morbius, Ghost Rider, Punisher, etc.,

Might have to stick with my custom, who's not exactly comic accurate but at least he can stand upright.

My lightbox has been destroyed so I'm thinking about buying an actual official one so I can get back to taking photos.

This is making me nostalgic for the Epic Heroes Blade that never got released, lol.

I suspect we'll see 7 waves again:

Avengers 2 waves (one of which has already been rumored/leaked).
Spider-Man 2 waves, (one of which has been mostly revealed)
Deadpool 1 wave (which has been mostly revealed)
X-Men 1 wave - (confirmed no reveals other than BAF)
Black Panther 1 wave (which has been partly revealed)

I do not think we'll get an Ant-Man wave, that may be incoporated into the Avengers Wave. Though I could be wrong, but that bumps the waves up to 8 a year, I'm not sure Hasbro is distribution and shelf space wise in a position to do that, considering that 7 waves a year seems to be a problem for half of he waves (mainly the 2nd wave of particular brands)

And I do not think we'll get a netflix wave, but that will be 2019. again, same reason for above.

If we got all 9 waves I bring up I think it would break all of us.
