Is it? I could be wrong. I thought it was early 2018, meaning they show up early in December like the last few "first of the year" waves have.

If it's an official 2017 wave then that puts us up to 8 waves for this year, meaning that if we're now sliding into that many waves per year, we could get the other six I mentioned as well as Ant-Man and Netflix. Also I know they're not netflix but I wonder about the possibility of an Inhumans wave.

By the way I keep meaning to say and keep forgetting, thanks for the more detailed review of the A-Force set. With pictures it's more comprehensive than I was able to do with my once over style of review. Also awesome photos at the convention Legends Thor "booth". It's awesome your wife seems to be as in to this as you are!

Pravus Prime 07-26-2017 02:32 PM

I'd like to add @Boy Blunder thanks for the pictures. I may not be getting it, but seeing the comparison pictures and brief write-ups on the A-force box set was very well done.

I'm quite fortunate (at least against most people) in that I have four Targets within 7 miles of my house and three within 5 of my parents house (Who I visit almost every week). Plus there's one on my normal drive out too.

With the Disco Iron Man/War Machine 2-pack it was at the very first Target I hit, which is ~400 feet from my house, so I didn't even hit any of the others, I just went to lunch and moved on. I'd really like the DCPI, but I'm hoping that it's already making it's way to stores now so that after August 1, it'll be on nearly every shelf at once.

I got the pre-order fulfillment notice from BBTS this afternoon for the case of Thor: Ragnarok figures and decided to go ahead and ship my POL from them. I ordered this morning and I hit ship this afternoon. Yay.

No problem, guys. Always happy to share thoughts on the latest purchases. And yeah, Nash, she's very much into it. Sometimes more than I am :D I mean, she was the driving force behind us getting the A-Force set when we did, and she has a few specific ML figures on her writing desk. She's easily as much the nerd as I am, if not moreso.

I thought the Lizard wave was coming out in 2018 too. Or really late 2017 due to early release like the Sandman wave. After Thor, the only wave I've heard about coming out this year was the vintage cardback wave which I heard would be out this fall. We're coming up on the Star Wars months so things should slow down.

That was my first thought. That or they just do Ant-Man and Wasp as a two-pack. They seem fond of that (Thor and Valkyrie most recently, but also Spider-Man and Mark 47 Iron Man for Homecoming and War Machine and Disco Iron Man for Civil War).

I could actually see them releasing Ant-Man in one of the Avengers waves and then putting a slightly retooled version of that same figure (with a new head and accessories maybe) in a two-pack with an exclusive Wasp.

Especially if they are pushing out twice the number of figs while keeping their manufacturing expenditures relatively the same as companies are known to do. I'd prefer quality over quantity. Many of the figs revealed at sdcc simply do not look good when one revisits the photos. Maybe the proto just came out a bit funky, but that Daredevil paint is horrible IMO and Luke's left arm (bicep) was assembled backwards, yet they still had it displayed at the show...nearly everything felt pretty sloppy and mailed in.

They's like a ML wave every month that's for sure...

Dang I hope my order gets fulfilled I placed my order after the first initial order sold out...Evilbay this thing is already triple the cost crazy, not many box sets being sold on there as well..kind of surprising.

Agreed Target and Walgreens exclusive are easy to get. TRU not so for some reason...

Yup, I remember those going up for a pretty penny too on the after market hard to get at the time because they were army builders...They're usually the ones to get scalped too for that particular reason...

They look just like Krysten Ritter and Jon Bernthal, you can't mistake them for anybody else. Daredevil too. Though he's wearing a mask, you can totally tell it's Charlie Cox under there. Not sure how much Elektra looks like Elodie Yung on that unmasked face. That being said, it DOES look like Elektra, so it works for me. As far as Bullseye goes, I absolutely love him. I don't own the ToyBiz version but now I don't really need to. He's leaps and bounds ahead of that version IMO. I love that classic "gun pointing" hand and both head sculpts are great.

Glad to see/hear that the Netflix figs are pretty top-notch. I snagged Jessica Jones early on-line (SHE'LL BE IN MY HANDS FRIDAY!!:D) and plan to get the rest when I find them at retail. Gotta spread out my purchases recently with all that's been hitting recently.

Nice! I was just beginning something new with Nico, some stuff came in the mail this past week that I'd been waiting for...

Thanks. I've just been trying out the new lightbox that I made. Gosh, love the accessories in your shots. Can't wait to see what you put out in those new pics. Know it going to be slick.

let me know what you are looking into..i'm new at that..so maybe you'd have some insight/ideas.

the one i saw was like ..easily collapsible....i dunno if that's a thing they all are or what..

I made the one used in the previous Dark Phoenix and Nico pics using a big cardboard box and some white butcher paper. Those professional ones do look cool, but I'm trying to save a bit of cash at the moment.

yeah i just googled it and see its pretty much a kindergarten project to make. Being that my skill set IS set somewhere around Kindergarten to 2nd grade-ish..I think i'm gonna give that a go..

what is the width of your box ?? (i got slapped once for asking a lady that)

the diffusing light part is genius in its simplicity...
i'd always wondered...now i know..

Captain Nash 07-26-2017 03:21 PM

now I want a lightbox! Not that I'm in a space to do anything with one right now but darn it...that's awesome. Something for later for sure.

Yeah, I've been wanting one for awhile and just decided one day to make it happen. Mine's made from a pretty big box I got from Entertainment Earth about a year ago. It's just been holding junk until now. It was originally a bit bigger, but I cut some off to make it a bit more manageable. It's currently got a length of 18in, width of 12in, and a depth of 18in.

Yeah, it's super easy to make, not so easy to store. Though mine is a bit on the big side. You could definitely make it smaller, though.

Veronica Mars 07-26-2017 03:36 PM

Realistically what are the chances of them either going back into production on the A-Force set or getting the characters released in other waves? Since TRU oversold and orders are being canceled the secondary market prices have jumped to I can pay my rent or I can buy this set levels and if I'm not going to be able to get some of my favorite characters, I don't see a lot of point in continuing to collect this line

I think there's a very good chance Monica Rambeau will see a solo release for the inevitable Captain Marvel Legends wave, much like a few of the Book of Vishanti figures ending up in the Doctor Strange Legends wave from last year.

En Sabah Nerd 07-26-2017 03:44 PM

Talking about lightboxes: The lightbox I sometimes use for toy pics is an "official" one but I don't remember from which company. Mine though is relatively small with roughly cubic dimensions of a little less than 2 feet in any direction. It's basically just a fancy cubic-bag of material and velcro with foil coating the inside that's held into shape with PVC pipes so it's easy enough to take apart and set up again for better storage (though I just leave it up all the time). It came with like 4 or 5 different color swaps for the interior fill so you don't just have to use flat white all the time and then it has small opening flaps on the front and top depending on what angle you want to take pictures of what's inside. Probably my favorite part though is that the lights (which are lined along the top corners) work on an analog dimmer so I can adjust the brightness depending on what's inside. It definitely works great for easy picture taking though since I could get some pretty nice pictures taken with my old phone that didn't have a particularly good camera.

I agree. Out of the six ladies in the pack, Monica, She-Hulk, and Sif have the best chance of being re-released in some other fashion. Monica with the eventual Captain Marvel wave, She-Hulk in a possible Avengers line, and Sif a bit later maybe when another Thor wave rolls around or possibly a two-pack of some kind. On the other hand, I don't see much for Elsa, Singularity, and Lady Loki. They are definitely more niche and this team pack seems like their only shot at release.

Kirathis 07-26-2017 04:05 PM

OK wow yeah I am going to have to snag that Netflix wave. Those figures look outstanding....with the exception of the Blade stance issue....

I am very curious to hear what you guys find for light boxes. I almost bought one back when I thought I was going to get into more customizing. As I recall, there are some articles about building them on the cheap as well. Drop some daylight bulbs into the lights and get a clean diffused daylight glow...or you just rock the color like TBM and get some amazing shadow and light effects! Dig the Nico stuff bud!

So many new things to buy. UGH, figures + GenCon = BROKE!

jwyss234 07-26-2017 04:34 PM

Out of the A-Force set, I think She-Hulk, Monica, and Siff have a pretty good chance of getting a re-release. Although if they do another She-Hulk, I wish they would make her a new body. It's sad because there are two Marvel Universe She-Hulks and they're better than the two Legends figures.

I made a lightbox about 4 years ago. I just used an old Dell computer box, a white pillow case that I split at the seems and wrapped around the outside so that light could shine through, and part of an old sheet for a background. I also have 4 LED desk lamps around the outside but they're not very powerful (which is why I need 4).

Hmmmmm, I wonder if I should do a photoshoot with MJ to relieve the tension in this thread. :-p

It's showing up in stores near me. They had Punisher and Bullseye at my Gamestop the other day.

It is. I used to have to the repaint that was in the 2 pack with Reed but I sold it a while back. Kinda wish I hadn't but it's not the end of the world.
