This data needs to be posted here, there and everywhere, but mostly it needs to be properly formatted and posted on Youtube. Then get a name at the Wall Street Journal and email them the link. Ask them "If 4" is so much more popular than 6", why is Dwight Stall at Hasbro trying to kill 4" and push 6"? Wouldn't that hurt Hasbro's bottom line?" If WSJ picks that ball up and runs with it, Hasbro will have to step in.

Yeah, probably a long shot I know, but we could get lucky.

But If you have an opportunity to present some facts to him. I can put my info together in some sort of intelligible manner and I'd be stoked if at least I know the facts got to someone who could potentially make a positive decision for our beloved 4 inch.

ON THAT NOTE: IS ANYONE HERE GOOD WITH NUMBERS, STATISTICS, PERCENTAGES?? I WOULD LIKE TO PUT THESE NUMBERS TOGETHER IN A MANNER THAT WOULD HAVE THE BEST IMPACT. PLEASE PM ME IF YOU ARE GOOD WITH THIS STUFF AND COULD HELP ME OUT.
(sorry for the caps, I just didn't what this to get missed)

I've looked far and wide and as far as I can tell the numbers are not available. I have looked at shareholder reports and they just lump marvel into a "boys toys" category, wish I had access to the data or could find it somewhere.

As far as anecdotal evidence, I see a shit ton of 6" peg warming while maximizing accessories and BAF parts, alternate heads/hands, and hasbro has crapped on the 3.75" quality, raised price, and had the nerve to pack a peg warmer like Hyperion in a 2 pack... and repack the same starlord, drax, and rocket in just about every way conceivable AFTER the 3 pack hit clearance stores... but they still haven't cancelled the line because it still sells and they make a profit on it.

there are many reasons why the legends community is getting preference, but to say MARVEL 3.75 is more popular is actually laughable, considering legends has more outlets, more fans and a much better community all round.

I love the 3.75 community, great collectors and I've made plenty of trades and hookups on toyark and other forums. The dedication of some of the 3.75" community is still worth defending to me.

Agreed. I've posted plenty of videos on here where they get asked about 3.75" and you can tell Stall just hates it... I wish Vonner was still in charge.

Also I loved the 90s spiderman animated series, I always thought that was right up there with xmen and doesn't get quite the credit, has a great theme song too!

Love the clean and posable joints on your customs D. So crisp.

Anyway good stuff you wrote earlier. Some facts and numbers would go a long way.

I m getting out our old Blackbird today. Will snap a few pics, Toybiz version based off the cartoon. Made for the 5" lune but works well with ours.

Also, you can call Hasbro and voice your concerns. The more they have registered the more one would think it would be noticed.

I'll happily post my info, but I'm gonna wait to so since I don't want the numbers to be effected just yet, if there's a potential to put this data in front of someone important at hasbro, then I'd like to do that, and afterwards I'd be happy to post it up here.

But rest assured, the disparity numbers between interest in MU and Legends is basically insurmountable at this point.

im not sure in what reality those "facts" are from but they are certainly not from this one.slowly kill a popular line?sorry it makes no sense.slowly kill a less popular line?that makes perfect sense.

Nut for the win

Also, the 3.75" community is triple to quintuple the size of 6" collectors. The Star Wars fans are in full effect. There are so many vintage collections around the world. That IS NOT to say that those numbers reflect to Marvel. Sad fact is it is over, at least for now. We don't have to like it, but we do have to accept it. In time, it will make a return of some kind. Perhaps never to it's former glory, and if it does expect a hefty price tag.

Who knows though. The party may be over but we can still enjoy each other's collections. Numbers, ideas, and pie charts oh my. Numbers, ideas, and pie charts oh my. Numbers, ideas, and pie charts oh my.

Bros.... Was in the forbidden closet of doom earlier. Tis a land where no man dare tread. I was looking for one of the vehicle boxes with the X Jet in it. While looking I found TWO more HYDRA guys I didn't know we had!! They were in very old bags, like three years ago or more since we've used those kinds of bags. Super stoked about that.

Nah, I got a good job already lol. No I don't remember sayings sales were up because MU related products, I was simply arguing in the past that hasbro sells things to make money or turn a profit, business/Econ 101. Remember when you said hasbro sells products at a loss lol:

Hasbro Reports First $5 Billion Revenue Year with Growth in Revenue, Operating Profit and Net Earnings for Full-Year 2016 (NASDAQ:HAS)

2016 Operating profit increased 14% to $788.0M; Net earnings increased 22% to $551.4 million or $4.34 per diluted share;

I think it's funny how some on here can back up their opinions with numbers, videos, articles etc only to get a quick dismissal, it really is laughable. Without the sales numbers, we can only speculate (but hopefully D day has some solid numbers).

As for the community, coming on here over and over again and ripping and bashing on 3.75" collectors might not be the best way to get what you want from them lol

D Day 09-23-2017 09:04 AM

Alright I'll put the controversy to bed and make my case.

I apologize for the clandestine nature of my posts, but I didn't really want to give the information yet because it is as close as anyone can come to having infallible data about one toy line being more popular than another.

So, take a journey with me if you will, back to September of 2012, it was a simpler time. But there was drama on the Ark, and 2 of the most popular toy threads on the ark were locked.

Those threads were the Marvel Universe 4 inch thread, and the legends 6 inch thread.

It was a pretty lame day to be honest, but what that day did, albeit unintentionally, was gave us a clear benchmark upon which I can make my argument.

So before that day the 4 inch thread had been started on April 9 2011 and in the period of 1 year and 4 months it amassed:

The 6 inch thread started 5 months later than the 4 inch over the period of 11 months amassed:

Now someone smarter than me could figure out the math on how much of how many replies and views the 4 inch thread got per month, and subtract that 5 month head start total from the number. But without doing the math, clearly 4 inch was more popular than 6 inch.

Now since those threads were locked on that day, we were given an opportunity to have the threads started over, on the exact same day.

And since that day, at the time of this posting on this toy board the 4 inch thread has amassed:

Vs the 6 inch which has amassed:

So while falling just short in the about of replies (2045), the views of the 4 inch thread are well ahead of 6 inch by 341 thousand.

Now, on that same September day, because of all the drama here, an entirely new toy forum was created, and 2 new threads were born. A 4 inch and a 6 inch marvel thread.

Since that day the 6 inch has racked up:

Not to shabby, but let's see what the 4 inch has gotten up to:

Now again, at the outset of this, all I've claimed is that MU is more popular/garners more interest than 6 inch.

And the numbers I'm submitting support that assertion.

4 inch marvel toy traffic on both threads since April of 2011:

6 inch marvel toy traffic since October of 2011:

So 4 inch has had

68,046 more replies or people talking about it.

And
8,020,074 more people looking at/interested in what's going on in those threads. (Minus the 5 months the 4 inch thread had started before the 6 inch, but that would hardly make a dent in the numbers)

Now the reason I'm sticking to the forms exclusively for my numbers is that on say Facebook, there's a lot of weird accounts, bots, and just general wackiness to account for that kinda taints any information that you could get from there. This information here, is just people interested and talking about the toys. The information here isn't really influenced by outside bs, because no one would really think to do that.

And I've stuck to these 2 forums specifically because A. They have dedicated 4 inch and 6 inch threads, and B. Because of all the drama on September 18 2012, we were given a unique opportunity to have data tracked from the same exact point in time.

So there it is, for whatever it's worth.

Clearly, there is a giant disparity in the interest that 4 inch fans show vs 6 inch. 4 inch interest mops the floor with 6 inch.

Despite the rhetoric and all the clamoring 6 inch collectors make, the numbers speak for themselves.

And keep in mind, about a year into the bulk of that dataset, fuckboy stall starting tanking the line, reducing articulation, and bashing 4 inch at any opportunity he had.

And despite all that, 4 inch interest dominated 6 inch.

Man I have been Lurking hard lately....

D Day - I felt the exact same way you did about pictures not getting any love, I would post some of my customs and no one would even acknowledge it and then someone would post a melted crayon and everyone would chime in on how great it is. I never dogged anyone's work, but to see others praised for their efforts while mine were barely noticed was certainly discouraging. It didn't stop me from customizing or make me lose any interest, just something I never understood. What actually made me less interested was Hasbro releasing many official figures that I had already made customs of and beginning with Marvel Infinite I felt like all I was buying was inferior versions of figures I already had, but these were "Official". Honestly it was Beast, Sandman, and Bishop that really did me in. They are just terrible versions that could have been so much better.

Additionally it is really silly to think that the amount of hits these forums receive are any indication of how well specific lines for Hasbro are selling. Plus Marvel Legends were "returned" in 2012 so of course there are going to be far more interest in collectors that have years invested in another line, versus a line that was just starting/returning.

This is hands down the most accurate Meme I have seen in a while! Dwight is championing the 6" line because he is passionate about it, we were lucky Vonner was so passionate about the 3.75" line, but until someone comes along that wants to bring MU back to the limelight we will only be getting 10-20 figures a year with poor articulation.

Kernel threw out the best data we can find, and unfortunately if you think about it, it looks like the 6" line is king. I mean in 2016 we saw the 3.75" line rebranded to Legends and the only decent figure to emerge was Gamora in a costume very few wanted. They also brought back the comic packs with a terrible spider-man two pack, a repacked Carol Danvers, and two FN Hyperions... These were all terrible packs IMO, and all hit clearance bins in droves.

As someone who has picked up almost every 6" legends figure from the past two years, I can say that there is no reason to hate them or not like what they are doing, they are releasing some of the best molds we got years ago, simply making them a little bigger. That Warlock wave Cyclops is the spitting image of our 3.75" one from 2011, his belt even sits too high on his waist just like ours!

There is no reason at this point to defend the line, it isn't selling well because it is too expensive and is an inferior product. That could very well change, but to be so naïve and think everyone wants 3.75" toys is foolish.

UKMU has a good point about the amount of people that collect 3.75" is probably greater than 6" collectors due to Star Wars and Joes, but that doesn't change the fact that they are not buying what's available. Currently no Joes on the Market and the 3.75" black series all hit clearance as well.

Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but step out of your fandom and think like a business. If Hasbro had one of its best years with Stall at the helm for Marvel, do you think they are looking to change the formula?

Also last but not least as it has been said and pointed out numerous times, Hasbro makes a ton of other stuff than just Marvel and I'm sure the sales of 4" and 6" are such small percentages of their profit that to think we the community will influence their business practices is laughable.
