Sometimes between this forum and others, especially Fwoosh, I feel like the only adult collector who actually likes the MCU figures.

Anyway, I'll ask again now that it's 8/1, Has there been any sightings or do we have a release date for the Target 2-pack of Thor and Valkyrie (6 inch)?

My local Walmart had space cleared for new Legends but they didn't have anything new out just yet.

You're not alone. I only collect MCU Marvel Legends, and have all 81 figures released from Iron Man through Thor: Ragnarok. I recently sold off my comic X-Men collection because I want to focus solely on the MCU.

I haven't seen the 2-Pack, but I will keep my eyes open.

Yeah my collection is just like yours, dont care if MCU or comic if I like the way a certain character looks then it goes in the collection/display, like with Jessica Jones, MCU version for me rather than the upcoming comic version.

Augustus_Cole 08-01-2017 12:35 PM

sweet lord....seems like every time i set foot in here someone has reset the matrix...

interesting...didn't realize there were that many so far.
how can you stay away from comic based figs though??
(i love both)

ya ever wonder why waves like the x-men were much harder to find than waves like Thor Rag is now..they seem readily available and hitting shelves ever where...
is it because of the MCU tie in?

Same man I mostly only collect the MCU too in legends and Select form but I do have comic figures as well. It's hard not to buy these latest comic Legends when they look this good. Like that Mysterio I gotta get that

Jerseysteel 08-01-2017 01:21 PM

I still wish they would release MCU as their own wave like they used to. Having to buy full waves for BAF sucks for both comic lovers and movie lovers as they end up with figures they dont want.

I think you're spot on with that. There's more incentive to push it out...

I assume it has to do with the Thor wave having a unique code/UPC/whatever, whereas the 2017 X-Wave has the same code/UPC/whatever as the 2016 X-Wave, meaning that, if there's still 2016 stock on the pegs, it counts as X-Men, and thus keeps 2017 stock from being added.

Same reason that, at least around here, the second GOTG Vol. 2 wave (the Mantis wave) has only been trickling out - the pegs are still loaded with the first Vol. 2 wave (Titus), or in the case of Target, the overpriced re-releases of the first film's Groot wave (god I am so tired of Space Iron Man)

That makes sense too...lol I can't be bothered with all that SKU stuff...

I collect both, and I would like them to split them up by wave as well, if only to get more MCU characters. But I doubt they would ever make a full lineup of 6 movie characters at once, despite their seemingly good sales figures. Ant time I see Legends waves with pegwarmers that seem to hang on for years, it's never the movie based characters.

I find the “actors/actresses cosplaying action figures” idea to be incredibly baffling, even if you aren’t interested in them.

Augustus_Cole 08-01-2017 02:01 PM

ohhhhhhhhh imma about to assemble WW Hulk (is that what we're calling him?)
or is it Planet Hulk

damn..speaking of MCU figs...these things look GREAT...
(thor wave).

I don't hate the movie figures, I just prefer to have comic versions. For one thing, the movie figures seem to be a tad smaller than comic ones. The movie Captain America I had was so short compared to everyone else that was a comic figure on my Avengers shelf. He was even smaller than Ant-Man and Iron Man.

On the other hand, I've been going back and forth if I really want the comic Black Panther as the movie one I have is pretty nice.

Wow. I didn't think there were that many and that's pretty impressive.

I'll admit, I'm not hardcore about getting them and I do mix them in with comic figures (I've been getting figures since 2002 with Toy Biz [I think Namor was my first, but I'm fuzzy on it since I also got Doctor Doom and I don't remember which was first]), it's more that I'm shocked at the near vitriol at others who just don't want any part, where several of my "default" versions are the MCU, especially some of the armored figures, like Iron Man and War Machine.

Pretty much that. Heck, my last two figures before Thor: Ragnarok was Black Suit Spiderman and Kid Nova (both on sale).

I've felt this way for quite a while. I don't know if it's vendor demands, Hasbro trying to squeeze out comic figures, or trying to maintain balance between them so that certain waves don't prove unpopular and then the vendors stop buying them, so they stop getting made, or what. Though my best guess is that comic figures spare the expenses per wave for budget reasons.

Back to my own question about the Thor/Valkyrie Target 2-pack, someone posted that their Target did the reset today and that they had shelf space and a tag for the two-pack, but none in stock. However, he did share the DCPI: 087-06-8392 According to Brickseek, there are none in my area. Someone else posted that they think they'll be in stock in 2-3 weeks, depending on how fast they go through the distribution network to "your local Target".

Augustus_Cole 08-01-2017 04:04 PM

so of the last 28 (4 waves) figures released...

16 - MCU
12 - Comic

as cinematic tips the scales...

Sooo...i just opened all the figs from the Thor wave.
Now I'm not a HUGE Thor fan..but I do like the character, both comic and cinematic..and have followed him here and there.

i was not really excited about this wave from its announcement but still thought it would be nice additions to the collection.

well..as much as we/I complain from time to time i think Hasbro has seriously stepped up the game a bit. This is an incredibly solid wave and I'm happy with all 7 of the released figures.
Lots of accessories and I feel like i REALLY got my 20 bucks of value each for this set.

So the Thor: Ragnarok and Marvel Knights, in my opinion are two great back to back waves!!

and i like HULK FOOT...and the rest of him too ;o)

Not going to lie, it's hard. Up until a couple of waves ago I collected both, but there's SO many comic figures, which is fine. But in the grand scheme of things, I am a massive fan of cinema. I will have a conversation any day of the week about any film. Throw out some recommendations and I will sit aside time to watch them. With that being said, the MCU has combined two of my favorite things...cinema and comics. My wife is an art teacher so her and I decided for display and personal preferences it's best to collect the MCU figures and tell a story with my collection. I've posted a ton of pictures, in fact I will post more once I set up a new photo sharing account.

TheBlueMarvel 08-01-2017 04:29 PM

@Dark
Get on the "HULK FOOT!"

Nice to hear that you are enjoying them, B. I'm not in a big rush, I'll be waiting a week or two. In the last two weeks+ I received my "all in" allotment of Articulated Icons (half of which I sold for a NICE profit - paid for my contribution and I still have the ones I wanted most), Manthing wave, A-force set, and my SDCC set finally arrived on Monday. Plus a bunch of doodads and extra figs (a key Four Horsemen acquisition) & accessories for photos. The plate is a bit full at the moment and I want to properly appreciate Hulk Foots (and Ares - even though I own the BAF) without being distracted...

Augustus_Cole 08-01-2017 04:45 PM

wooo..you see that...Bishop, Black Panther, and The Blue Marvel all in a row...that's Three The Hard Way rye there....lol
