Sweet. I'll have to try and get out there.
I also need those Ikea cabinets- gotta order them through their catalog and pick them up there or something.

Kevinhopgoodillustration. Google him up- he's super cool and real reasonable too! What's more, almost no one has his stuff- he's in the UK and does not do the Cons.

I gotta bug him to make me the Hulkbuster or Modular armors!

WalkingDeadpool 07-21-2012 06:45 PM

One shot before bed....love this fig...Can't wait to get the modern costume...

Aw. I miss Sawgrass Mills.
I managed both the KBToys and Toy Works in the last two years before they closed:-(

SquirtleSquad7 07-21-2012 06:51 PM

I want to get someone to take me to see if my TRU has the packs, but at the same time, I feel like it'll just be a waste of a trip.

I only want the Spidey/Rhino pack anyway.

Cool hauls though, everyone. And that Avengers Vs. X-Men display is sick.

HA! Really!? I busted a kid shoplifting there while I was looking at the clearance bins of Marvel Gold figs...he panicked and ran into the food court and no one working noticed!

Still, I miss that Kay Bee- and the Galleria store!
Jeezus, we're old.

Catching the shoplifters used to be one of my favorite parts of the job.
I helped out at the galleria when they were closing, too. LOL.

Kinda crazy that they used to have three KBs in Sawgrass.

Yeah, lots of good memories working there, too.
The first endcap I built was for A Bugs Life.

The awesome "self pleasuring" Tarzan.
The Harry Potter Nimbus 2000 vibrating broom.

When I closed one of my stores in 2004, I tore down a wall and found a Montgomery Moose plush from the Getalong Gang, from around '84, I think.

And the bins and bins and bins of 3/$10 Marvel figures.

mikefavata 07-21-2012 07:59 PM

Sawgrass has a TRU "outlet" now. They probably had 8 pegs of MU. $9.99 a piece and all revision stuff, meh.

mikefavata 07-21-2012 08:02 PM

Oldest toy store I remember was the Lionel Playworld in West Palm, must've been mid to late 80's.

Jason Abbadon 07-21-2012 08:10 PM

HA! That was my very first toy store experience!
Holy crap that brings back memories- over summer vacation I was obligatory kitchen slave at some barbeque joint my father was managing right across the street from that playworld and at the end of summer he gave me $100 to spend there....I filled up a cart with Star Wars and I think some Micronauts and Black Hole toys.
I was king of the world that day...I think I was like eleven....it seemed unreal the size of the place, but it was probably not really bigger than a TRU, I guess.

A hundered bucks was CRAZY money for a little kid...but craptastic for missing summer to work cleaning all day in some crappy kitchen.

I saw the kid do the "cough trick" as he pulled the bubble open on something and I looked at him and kinda shook my head to say "You're gonna get busted" but he must have misunderstood that as "I'm going to vivisect your family" and hauled ass.

No idea why i ws even looking around in there- I think I was out of collecing at that time- probably looking for cheap model kits to kitbash into spaceships 9my other big hobby).

How many millions of dollars do you think he made at KB and its employees expense?

A lot less than the damage he'd do at everyone's expense if elected- he's got Bush's "warhawks" on his foreign advisory staff.

Annnnyway, Spidey does not seem to be raking in the big cash at the box office and definitely not on the toy asile- I predict clearance prices within a month, like how MIB is now.
Is there anything even worth getting from that line? The super-posable Spidey seems way too small for MU scale.

Agree on both points. But I did love the movie.

Down the street there used to be a Toys R Us, right near a Publix. I believe I was like8 years old and had birthday money to spend. Mom dropped me off while she got groceries.

I was so excited to get GI Joes but I had to go to the bathroom. I tried to hold it so I could dig through all the vehicles but I crapped my pants.

Ran to the bathroom, cleaned up and then I hid my underpants in the tank of the toilet. Went and grabbed some figs and a vehicle and kept my dirty secret to myself until the place was torn down like 10 years later.

I was always so nervous they would find my underpants stuffed in the toilet tank, I wonder if they ever did.

Jason Abbadon 07-21-2012 08:29 PM

Hilarious and disgusting.

When I was like twelve me and a friend had a kind of sick bet as to who could shoplift the craziest thing from K-Mart in Kendall.
I won with nabbing the entire Voltron lion combiner set in one day.

Really, I think the staff could care less if I had bunred down the store- no twelve year old should have a big Black Lion bulge in his pants as he walks quickly past the registers...

That's my dirty secret- a Voltron with ball stank.

My pal had like six copies of every AC/DC casette...why multiples of that band's catalog? No idea.

As a kid I was a price changer. Find clearance stickers and slap 'em on everything. My mom thought I was such a smart shopper.
