I hate to admit this, the Tv/Movie figures look really good, and I am questioning if I should continue to buy the comic figures.

I will start with Star-Lord because while almost exactly the same toy that's still available there are some minor differences. The only sculpt difference seems to be the facial hair looks a little less grown in and the hair is a bit cleaner. The paint is where more notable things pop up, generally the two pack version appears to sport a lighter color scheme almost across the board and the guns have less paint now. The black on the helmet is darker and his face looks shinier like he's just finished exfoliating. He has the Walkman but it's just a black piece of sculpted plastic, it's nice but tiny and it should have been blue. Ego is the moving force that made me buy this and for me he does not disappoint. The articulation is what one would expect and some, the torso joint is actually a fully functioning ball-joint instead of the usual hinge so he gets a wide range of movement and it looks a bit better than the hinge probably would've. The sculpt is strong including little details that Hasbro could have overlooked or just painted on and while the figure doesn't have the best likeness Hasbro's ever done it is still definitely Kurt Russel. The beard is probably what's throwing it off. Mine has a little bit on the serious face where some gray from the beard bleeds over under his lips and yes under strong light you can make out shades of green in his eyebrows but under standard observation the heads both look great and I think they did a good job more subtly expressing his emotions. All I could have asked for to improve upon things was maybe some energy effects. |
^ IMO Kurt Russell is one of those dudes that will always be cool... so any figure of his will also be cool since Kurt Russell pretty much looks like Kurt Russell in any role he plays nowadays. I liked him since the movie Soldier.

@Tomax
It is a generalization that all conspiracy theorists wear foil hats to block the government from reading their mind. Thus some choose to poke a little fun at that by saying they are "putting on their foil hat" when making a conspiracy type comment. The preceding slash is a nod to computer commands often beginning with a slash as the comment was posted on a website. Just me being a dumb tech nerd and poking fun at myself while making my post. Sasquatch & Man thing look nothing alike at all. One's covered in swamp moss, dead tree limbs, gunk & other swamp shit while the other is covered in fur from head to toe & is at least 2-3 ft bigger & wider than Manthing. No, Sasquatch would require a fully brand new sculpt depicting body hair & be 10 inches tall. Hasbro went and did an entirely new buck for that awesome Deathlok figure so they should have no problem doing the same for Sasquatch. I don't know how big that oversized outta scale Blaastar was in the SDCC wave from a couple of yrs ago, but maybe the buck would work for Champion if it's in the 9 inch range. The upper torso & upper arms look feasible with just the lower body/lower arms & head needing a new sculpt and of course paint job. Come to think of it, had they made Champion the big fig in that wave I woulda got it in a heartbeat! As it is, I just got Gladiator a couple of yrs ago & then like an idiot sold it off last yr cuz $$ was tight & now it goes for like $75+ on ebay which I refuse to fork over that much for a single figure. I'm in the middle of working on my own classic Gladiator & will post it when done. As for the Star Wars /Marvel comp, no go. Star Wars started as a movie series so it makes complete sense that the figures represent the actors. Not so with Marvel where from 1963 till Ironman premiered in 2008 , no 6' scale figures were made in actors images but in their comic's image. And for whomever is assuming I hate the MCU, you couldn't be more wrong, I have every MCU movie done and can't wait to add GOTG vol 2 later this month! I love em. I just don't care for figures of actors, hence I call em cosplayers. I hear people saying " I can't wait for that Cris Evans Cap figure". I'm like wow, it's because it's "Chris Evans" , not that it's just "Captain America". But what can you expect in a time where hardly any kids under 16 read comics anymore or just plain read period! As a kid in the 80s, I read every Stephen King Novel I could get my hands on! They just know of these characters via the movies. I feel sad for the new generation, I really do. They'll never experience the joy of going to a comic shop & buying a stack of Marvel/DC/Image/Dark Horse comics and laying on the bed reading them for hrs. And don't anyone come on here with some BS that "kids still buy & read comics" Must be a kid with very wealthy parents who gives him a very handsome allowance to spend on $4-$5 comics, cuz that's like the avg cost of comics now. No, kids only know of characters like Cap, BP, and War Machine due to the movies & toons based on the movie characters. I bet if you ask the avg MCU fan under 21, who's Namor? They'll be totally clueless cuz he hasn't made his MCU debut yet. I bet until CW, not many of them had ever heard of the Black Panther. And before Cap 2 "TWS" none of them knew who the hell he was. I know of all of them cuz I actually read about them as a kid. I really feel for kids today. It's no wonder the avg kid today has a low reading level. Many don't have good comprehension skills nor a great grasp on the English language. Too busy making up BS slang terms cuz the real words are just too much for them. Anyways, I want army builder "classic" 10' Sentinels as the next BAF for the 2018 X-men wave Hasbro! Make it happen! |

I'd repost all of those images I did of current day MCU Avengers figures interacting with the older ToyBiz X-Men figures, but I'm stuck at a truck stop in SoCal without access to my computer, and Photobucket has all of them... They have been making 6 inch scale Marvel Movie figures for a long time...all the way back to the original Blade movie at least... The ones from the original Spider-Man though were my favorite, amazing sculpts that still hold up and all the articulation you could ever want... |

My mistake , I should have clarified that I was just referring to the MCU starting with Ironman in 08'. And to prove my point, all those Pre-MCU movie figs of the actors look like pure caca. So if anything, you proved my point with those pics. I never owned any of those as well during the TB era. |

Unrelated but I'm hoping the Legendary Riders line yields a Xavier with his hoverchair. |
