Check out what I got today:

http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psuzafqlpu.jpg

Good god this Vader is friggin awesome. In fact, I think he is a superior figure to the Figuarts. Not only is he the right height, but the stitching in the arms and legs are impressive. I love it. The head looks like it could be a tad big, but if I recall, it is accurate to the movie. Also, to my surprise, I don't have the cloth cape. In fact, I down right adore it. This is the first time I've ever found a cloth cape to kick ass. It also helps that it doesn't feel like it is made of some cheap material and it isn't shreddeing at all. My only two minor complaints are the lack of double jointed elbows (seriously, why is this even a thing with this line?) and the hook on the belt is too flimsy/rubbery to hold the lightsaber.

Now the display piece is crap. First off, the cardboard background doesn't lock into anything, so the folds make it impossible to even look remotely good. It also doesn't help that the thing is too big to be placed in my Detolf, but at least the base pieces with the peg holes will work well. No matter what though, this thing was an after thought and is not worth the additional $20 price tag.

Anyway, lots of comparison pics and some other fun stuff below.

Actually, the cardboard does lock into things; it locks into the entire bottom row, and to the middle piece of the top arch thing. Each has a groove with "teeth" every so far. Mine is in place quite sturdily.

See? No gap on top or on the sides.

Also, it seems you didn't take the sticker off the sticker sheet and simply slapped the whole sticker sheet onto the logo plate thing.

Yeah, that I did on purpose since I am unsure whether or not I want to keep the backdrop piece. I'll try what you said to do though.

Tim 04-13-2017 07:08 AM

Nice score man. I got him also I kinda don't want to open him because the packaging is that good. But I most likely will since all of my black series are open anyway

Riddick 04-13-2017 09:49 AM

Damn, I'm wanting that Vader. They've knocked it out of the park!

I do wish that dio fit in a detolf though... that sucks.

Riddick 04-14-2017 02:43 AM

That's great!

MUfan97 04-15-2017 10:20 AM

Heads up: The backdrop to the Marvel Legends 12 inch Iron Man is a good substitute to Space walls if you don't have too many figures and kinda poorish.

Granted, this is only a good fix if, like me, you got that Iron Man for $15 a while back.

Saw them today at my gamestop for the first time but GRRR... all the cards were bent. Whoever built the cardboard box display must have did it wrong because the cubby hole was a bit too small for the cards and they just jammed them inside. LOL. Would have probably bought Leia if the card was minty.

I actually just got Leia at my Gamestop because the card was in great shape. Initially it had a price sticker on the top right but the employee heard me complain about that and was kind enough to seamlessly remove the sticker. I guess my store only got in the one case because I asked and was told that somebody else earlier had bought one of everybody else and they only had the double packed figures left. No Vader sets and no exclusive R5s yet.

MeLikeJinx 04-15-2017 05:45 PM

^ Whoa that's cool... I hate those Gamestop price tags... trying to take them off of the used video games I buy there is such a pain. My Gamestop also had a bent up Ben Kenobi... that was the first time I ever saw him at retail... completely missed that wave with him, Sabine and Revan.

Trivial Psychic 04-15-2017 06:19 PM

I ran into the 40th anniversary Vader again at Best Buy today, and while I told myself that I initially wasn't going to pick this one up, I ended up liking the smaller details on the figure upon closer inspection, and I opted to grab it while I could.

I'm now stuck wondering what I should do with my original BS Vader that I customized a while back using the Emperor's Wrath head, as this version is honestly the best 6 inch Vader out there like Dr. Kain said. Even with the mods I made...it flat out embarrasses it, from the head sculpt down to the painted details, and I wonder why Hasbro simply could not have got it right in the first place...

Yep... same with Leia... same with Luke. Once is a mistake, but three times... that almost seems like they're doing it deliberately.

MUfan97 04-15-2017 10:37 PM

Why does this Tarkin have tumors in his thighs?

http://news.toyark.com/wp-content/up...KIN-Figure.jpg

Also, we better be getting that headsculpt on at least a 5 POA figure. I need that head in the proper scale.

lordbest 04-15-2017 10:43 PM

They're jodhpurs:

The actual release will have green hair and a handlebar moustache. 6 months later Hasbro will re-release the figure as part of a 6 inch scale fully functioning Death Star available only in one store in Idaho with a 'correct' headsculpt.

Yeah, but that's not until 2018.

Really? Weird. They never looked that puffy in the movies.

Hahahahaha! That genuinely made me laugh

For the most part we only ever see him from the waist up or higher. In his introductory scene when he walks to his seat for the meeting you can just see the puff in his strut.

I really want to get into the black series, but are we not long overdue for a Mace Windu figure? He's my all time favorite Star Wars character, and even in the prequel lines he was just overlooked. I'd possibly even go for Jango too if I was to get one.
