I liked the idea of the Fury Files but it never really went anywhere. And obviously like most things in the MU line it was dropped. I think when you take the focus off of the action figures and try and use some gimmick like the crap you mentioned , it cheapens the experience. Kids loose interest and make associations with other card or video games that are much better. Leaving a stale taste. Plus usually these lame additions come at a price to the quality of the figures. Just make a cool line and stop with the gimmicks. |

I think someone realized that if kids (or anyone) wanted to know more about character they could just use google/wikipedia. The Iron Man 2 armor cards were a real waste of money for them. Served no purpose in the end. |
Those are garbage. I also enjoy the ML papers. I forget if wave 1 had them, but wave two had papers for each figure explaining stuff.

Finished up Forge!

I'll have to tough that up later. And of course an updated 90's X-men team pic. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...a/IMG_2655.jpg |
I liked the IM2 armor cards more than anything. It was a cool little artsy display thing that connected to a nameless (universal) base.
Think if they were to use the same concept with MU. But instead of the computer schematics being on the cards there were the 1st appearance comic cover of whatever character it came with. Or some other type of key issue. That would be awesome IMO. |

OMFG, what a craptastic day I had today thanks to toys. You guys know how people always return figures back to stores with a similar and somtimes flat out Happy Meal toy back to a store after keeping the original? Remember how we always b*tch and moan about employees not voicing opinions cuz the customer's always right or they just flat out don't care? Well, that kinda happened to me today.
So, I was just sittin' there at lil Primo's house waiting for his birthday to party to begin, just counting the minutes until I could just fart my way into the kitchen and grab a slice of Iron Man cake, when suddenly, he starts opening presents before cake cuz apparenty that's how we roll these days. I don't know, I just work here. So, he starts opening stuff, and I'm eager to see what he got, he's eight, I act like I'm five, we get along very well. So, after like a few video games, and some clothes (yay....) he opens up a gift my Aunt got him. It was a movie masters TDKR Batman figure, or at least it was supposed to be. He thought it was weird that these are supposed to be pretty decent quality action figures, instead what he got was a repackaged KO swapmeet/flea market quality Batman figure with molded in-place legs and no arm articulation. It was basically a plastic turd with a cloth cape with a somewhat Batman reference. So, we reared (it is reared, not raised, raised applies to animal, look it up) our lil primo with manners, he was greatful he recieved something he really likes from my Aunt, he gave her a hug and went on to play with it. As much as you can play with when you have a bad ass Batmobile and a dog toy... I sometimes forget my manners, so I was all like: "Awww, hail nawwww...." So I explain to my Aunt, these aren't Movie Masters, they're Movie.... Umm.... Disasters, you try coming up with something on the spot, it's hard. She tells me it was the only one they had and she remembered a talk her and I had about Variants. How they sometimes look nothing like what's described on the package. She was under the impression that it was an old 70's nod in a new age packaging. I gotta hand it to the repackager though, if there was an olympic event for repackaging toys, that guy would've won the gold, silver and bronze. It was very well repackaged, I mean like, wow, you went through so much trouble for that?! Godayum. So, I tell her I'll make it right, I'll head up to TRU and exchange it for the real deal. I took the receipt to the front desk at a random ass TRU I spotted. The manager was actually ringing up people, so that's probably why I got hassled. When it came time for me to tell her what's up, I explained how it was a repackaged toy. That manager chick was like in Amazonian mode or something, because she sat there and lectured me about how she's tired of people doing that at this particular store. I'm just like, yeah, me too. Except the 'this' store part, I've never been there. She asked me if it was right to do this, I asked her if they had the FF Spidey/Doom CP. She replied with a 'What?' So did I. Eventually, she called like five other dudes to come out there and look at a toy. These guys looked like that was the job title they signed up for, action figure inspection. After the autopsy, they mentioned it was against the rules to return different items for my money back. I said, my bad, even though it was purchased like that to begin with, can I have a gift card? They basically said I'm all out of luck and I slowly had to back up out of the store. Except in the parking lot, I'm not gonna get run over cuz I'm not watching where I'm going, can you imagine? Teehee. Now we're stuck with the Baturd, I made things right by buying the lil one an actual Batman figure, but yeah, kinda pisses me off that so many have gotten with with returning shitacular happy meal toys for rather expensive figures and never raise an eyebrow. Yet here I come, and OMGWTFBBQ. /poker faced rant. |
Wow, that sucks so bad. I wish stores would understand more. Try e-mailing a TRU customer service about it or something? Explain it just like that! They might be sympathetic. Say the child was really upset, lol

The new Spider-Man is fantastic but a little big, I still want the white costume from Wave 19.

Scythe: sorry to hear about that. I'd be beyond pissed. Also, I snickered at the notion of somebody "farting" their way into a kitchen.
kamendreda: amazing forge. |
