hmmmm, maybe thats true. but im still fuming at how the edited it. still doesnt make sense even though you just made sense of it!

and maskless hal is on ebay i believe. or it has been not how much its going / went for.

i dont know if that was intentional by the editors but i though that was absolutely shite of them to cut it like that.

and we STILL dont know what he said that he didnt mean... I WANT TO KNOWWWWWW

Yep, that's exactly what I'm talking about, a good decent movie that gets ruined by someone not paying attention to the final product.

Jason Abbadon 06-22-2011 05:50 PM

The only odd thing for me (saw it last night) was how Hal's green energy constructs could produce yellow flame and yellow sparks from the machine gun constructs.

Anyway, as to figures, I saw the 3.75 Giaus Zed (the guy that's all head with long arms).
I actually took it to the checkout line to buy it.
It's just. SO. DAMN. CREEPY.

Anyway, there was a line from hell and I decided to put him back, as it would be my only DC figure and I was only buying it as a novelty- it's sculpt is quite nice but the articularion sucks like the others.
Really, they could have at least given it an elbow joint!

Optimus Vader 06-22-2011 08:02 PM

The movie was ok. I didn't love it, but I didn't dislike it either. I think a lot was forced, I really didn't like almost all the scenes with Carol (even though she's hot as hell--she can't act a bit), and it needed more Sinestro. A few of the CG scenes were a little choppy too.

Did anyone feel like they were hearing a little Superman movie music when Hal would fly away sometimes? I did.

Jason Abbadon 06-23-2011 06:17 AM

I'm hopping there is a ton of scenes edited back in for a DVD special edition- Hal's training obviously had scenes cut from it, as did the Corps/Parallax fight.

Hell 90% of the Corps were seen for only a second or two! I want a BZZT action figure!

Optimus Vader 06-23-2011 07:21 AM

Yeah, I thought it was funny how Kilowog mentioned something like, "Can I train them or what?" after Hal defeated Parallax and I'm sitting there thinking, "but you only trained him for about three minutes."

stjuggernaut 06-23-2011 08:43 AM

It was because Hal used kilowogs idea about the gravitational pull of the sun. But yeh not much training other than that haha

DarkestKnight 06-23-2011 09:15 AM

You got it all wrong, every time Hector Hammond was on screen, Hal flew up to space and trained and flew back before he came back on screen. :D

There is a Bzzd that comes with MM Maskess Hal Jordan.

Jason Abbadon 06-23-2011 11:26 PM

Realy? Is he 3.75 ish? I'm cool with a bug-sized BZZT but not so cool with blowing $18 on him (why I passed on the four-pack of animal Corps guys).

If the GL Corps can casually make suns like that, why bother with the energy basts against parallax? Each GL coud have made a mini sun and tore o' smoky apart in a minute.

(shrug)

Something to do next time the inevitible menace pops up, I suppose.

The sound effect of the rings blasting annoyed me- kinda an 80's Battlestar Galactica blaster sound effect.
Minor gripe, but still distracting a bit.

I thought it hilarious how Hal kept his job after destroying billions of dollars worth of airplanes- both his own and the drone prototypes- we never see those recover after their engines stall.

The guys that jumped hal were totally justified in beating his ass.
They lost their jobs but Hal got the save from the boss' daughter? That's a total hose, right there.

Crazy Jetty 06-24-2011 11:22 AM

Well, Bzzd is in scale with the Movie Masters line. He'd be great with the DCUC. But it depends on how ambiguous you see his size being, as to how he'd fit with the 3.3/4 line.
(When I get mine, he's gonna perch on DCUC Kilowog's shoulder)

Optimus Vader 06-24-2011 11:51 AM

TRU has the Movie Masters two packs on sale for $23 today and tomorrow.

..what's funny is their MM singles (which they have WAY more of clogging the shelves than the two packs) are still regular price.

That's very cool, thanks!
I just wanted him to have him, really- I'd happily have him perched on my computer's monitor.

Shin Densetsu 06-24-2011 05:47 PM

Damn man after seeing the movie, the Movie Masters come off as under-detailed. A wash of black, then drybrush wash of bright yellow-green would pop out a lot of the intricate details.

Barely any of the Lanterns even show up in the movie! I mean they are there but only a few seconds! Well save for Sinestro, Tomar Re, Kilowog and Abin Sur. Due to this, I'm surprised some of them even got Movie Masters! So it's cool for fleshing out your cast.

However I am still disappoint over the lack of highlighted detail. Also PEEVED about the hindered articulation on Hal! How so? Check Abin Sur, Abin Sur has a similarly proportioned body and the same amount of articulation save for his ab joint, but DAMN he moves way better!

Hal got the short end of the stick and he's the $%^&*()_ing MAIN CHARACTER WTF?!

At the end of the day, and after seeing the movie, I do wish the 4H tackled these figures instead of just the C&C Parallax(which honestly I didn't see much appeal of in the movie). However, would we as a fandom be happy with the 4H working on the Movie Masters and letting the in-house team at Mattel take on a few DCUC and Green Lantern Classics waves instead?

Highly doubt it.

To be fair, most of the DCUC utilize generic bodies, with only the heads and occasional different parts being new, with GLC being even worse about this.

I do feel their absense on these waves would be by far and large less noticable than on the Movie Masters line. And if Mattel managed their waves smartly, it wouldn't be noticable at all (Such as putting Flash's head on a lankier body for Wally West Flash).
Figures like Blue Lantern Flash, and Black and White Lanterns Hal Jordan wouldn't really be noticable at all, if they had no hand in it (The new Hal heads are awesome, but honestly, would we really have noticed them it at all had they just used the standard Hal head?). And save the figures that required heavy modifications, like Indigo Tribe Atom, and Sinestro Scarecrow for later waves.

Jason Abbadon 06-24-2011 09:52 PM

saw the potato-head lantern again today- and noticed something really odd about the 3.75" figures.
The aliens dont have rings! WTF kind of quality control is going on when the rings are somehow omitted?!? Not even painted on for Hannu (who looks like horse droppings for some reason), Zed, froggy Green Man or the Tomar I saw.

Still, when they all go to clearance, I'll probably buy the aliens and repaint them into Nova Corps members. Somehow that's funny to me.

Are you sure? Isamot and Kilowog both have rings.

Jason Abbadon 06-25-2011 08:44 AM

The Zed guy definitely does not and (without opening the package) I could see nothing on the others- these are the 3.75" figs though- not the movie masters.

Crazy Jetty 06-25-2011 08:46 AM

Huh. That's *really* odd.

Jason Abbadon 06-25-2011 08:50 AM

UPDATE: Turns out the Zed head does have a ring! It's just poorly sculpted and the exact color as his gloves.
I googled it.

While looking, I saw this inspired Stel:

I'd do more with the head (maybe use a Bumblebee head), but it's a great body idea!

stjuggernaut 06-29-2011 05:53 AM

Got this Sinestro figure through the post today. got it loose from china or somewhere. really cheap too. best movie figure so far in my opinion. maybe thats because he was portrayed so well in the movie though!!!

Anyone else notice the toys not moving at all?! Was out looking for Transformers today and just sort of saw that the shelves were really well stocked. I mean...that's a good thing but, at the same time not.

Is his articulation/range of motion the same as Hal's or better? Abin Sur looked to have similar articulation but he actually blows away Hal.

stjuggernaut 06-30-2011 03:44 AM

i think the articulation is the same unfortunately. not very articulate. looks great though.
