The new one only looked decent without the helmet/mask. I thought it looked fine when Evans was unmasked, but the helmet just doesn't look right.

It was totally the helmet. They should have identified that it looked bad at the beginning and had it ripped off early on. The suit looked great without the headpiece.

Don't count Thor out just yet, what if they did the Thor 2 line as purely comic figures? I'd definitely want a comic warriors three...

That's key- actors cant just remain available forever while a studio dicks around and actor's contracts for other films conflictiing with filming schedules can kill a sequel as easily as anything else.

Disney wont screw up IM3 and Thor2 to cash in early on a Avengers sequel.

Disney owns it and can most certainly pull rank when it comes to this....movies go into preproduction many times and never make it out....

Not saying this will happen, but your going to get The Avengers 2 a lot sooner....and yes the actors can remain cause they signed multi picture deals.....they just move things around....I think they would rather have the money the avengers made over what Thor made.....

Actually I think they would like to have any additional profit. Thor made more than Cap did and both made more than it cost to make and market the movies. Disney will not rush Avengers 2 when it really doesn't need to.

I predict more people will now watch the individual films in hopes of seeing if any more will tie into Avengers 2 even if none of them do. Not to mention you probably spend less making individual movies than a full on Avengers movie and still come out strong in revenue. All this spells BIG BUCKS for Disney and Marvel.

Oh they will make Iron man 3, Cap 2 and thor 2, but Im saying that the avengers will come sooner then it was going to....who is to say they cant have the Avengers and Thor out the same summer....Avengers then Cap out the same summer. Use one to spring board the other....

With the money this movie is making Disney sees Morre money and Id be hard pressed to get a part two out soon instead of 4 years from now.

Hell they could Do Cap, IM and Thor one summer then have the Avengers the next....

Greenskar 05-10-2012 02:44 PM

Because of the conflicts with the time frames of filming each movie that other directors and cast members have already committed to. Iron Man 3 releases next May and Thor 2 next November. Cap is already scheduled for release May of 2014. Avengers 2 will be another summer release and Marvel/Disney will not have it compete against one of their own movies.

Not only that, but the movie will make big bucks regardless of how many years down the line it gets made. Iron Man 2 wasn't as good as the first and it still made $687 Million or somewhere near that. And that was just an Iron Man movie.

Avengers will most likely be a 2015 Summer release. Good news is that there will be plenty of Marvel/Avengers related films in between to tide everyone over until then.

Thor and Cap were in the same summer.....so ummmm

Schedules can change...The Avengers was supposed to come out in 2011, but didnt. Fact is things can always change dates and the way things come out.

This is true. Forgot about that. I want an Avengers sequel soon as much as anyone, but honestly, it just doesn't need to happen as quickly as you're suggesting given all the other projects Marvel has planned.

Marvel knows it's got a proven franchise with the Avengers, so now there's an opportunity to expand the popularity of lesser known characters (Ant Man, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, etc) that could even potentially become a part of a future Avengers movie. This would also condition the general public into accepting the constantly changing roster that the Avengers have been known for and will create more interest in wanting to see new characters used.

This is why I don't think Avengers will be rushed to an earlier release.

Spacemafia 05-10-2012 03:08 PM

There's an open slot left in 2014 for May for an unknown Marvel Movie.

I Doubt GOTG or Antman are going to be popular with the Mainstream public.

If I was head of Disney Id be thinking about whats going to bring the non Comic book fans in....and GOTG and Antman would not!!!

Cap comes out in April 4th of 2014 not May.....and that would make it a great leadoff for the Avengers in May of that year.

A 3 year wait for a movie this big is kinda dumb and both movies could help each other....say Cap has very important plot elements that directly lead into the Avengers....

To me Cap was more tied into the Avengers movie then the others....First Avenger, Cube...

Thor and IM have a world with in a world in their movies....Cap is almost alone except for Shield. Cap has more potential to build themes through out the movie that Thor and IM wont.....that could lead right into the Avengers....more so then end credit scenes would.

Back to the Future 2 and 3 came out I think 5 months apart and as a kid that was soooo cool.

Zero 05-10-2012 03:10 PM

Going to see it again tonight.

lol at the B2TF comment. I remember that.

I personally don't like Ant Man, but you know what, it's all about presentation sometimes. If any studio could pull off something great with him its Marvel. I remember really liking "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" back in the day and after watching the "To Catch an Ant Man" episode on Avengers: EMH, I'm much more interested in a cinematic world of Ant Man than I originally was.

As for GotG...I love that team. And I honestly believe, even though it would never happen because he's locked into Avengers for good now whether he likes it or not, that if you had the same guy who did the Firefly series directing a GotG movie with a DnA type movie script, you'd end up surprised at how good it turned out to be. Definitely wouldn't be as popular as Avengers or Batman, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be successful.

I think you might actually be right about Cap leading into avengers, now. I'm not sure if it was an interview with Whedon that I read or watched or where anymore, but I recall a mention on how out of the next 3 movies to be released (Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2) the next Cap movie has the most tie in to Avengers 2 because, as you pointed out, he still has close ties to SHIELD which is still a big part of the Avengers in the movies at the moment. Guess we'll find out soon.

The thing about Thor and Cap was that they had completely different actors and production teams. All the characters in Avengers are basically in other movies, so you can't have them working on both films at the same time. It just doesn't work that way.

You could do Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 in the same summer, etc, but not anything with Avengers really.

Wow media really reaches to crucify things these days don't they? In the context of the way it was said it was both true and freakin hilarious.

NO JOKE esp considering how Thor tried to appeal to the bond Loki and he share as well as defend loki in front of the avengers sheesh

DogFashionDisco 05-11-2012 10:38 AM

That's a good point. I'm more surprised that Stark's "bag of weed" comment made it into the movie.

Umm yes you could.....its not like Cap is in every scene for the Avengers

And heres a news flash Actors shoot two movies at the same time more then you think Kristien Stewert for one....

Most of the time they work on one movie at a time. On rare ocassions they arrange to schedule filming two movies simultaneously. That requires traveling between film site 1 to film site 2.

Has and can will be done.....Fact is Marvel has an unnamed project set for may 2014.......

With Chris Evans only playing one character this is very easy to do. Will it happen most likely not, but impossible to do no...

Plus didn't the last 2 Harry Potter movies get filmed at the same time, so couldn't they do it with IM, CA and Avenger's incorporating everything all at once. Heck seems more efficient that way too.

When you're only dealing with one actor, yes they can work on two films at the same time. But with an Avengers film, you'd be dealing with several actors, not just one. It can be done, certainly, but it would take a fair amount of precise scheduling. And there's always the possibility of production delays that can muck up things too. Which is the reason actors who work on multiple films at once do not work on multiple big-budget films at the same time.

In fact, I'm sure a lot of actors would love to work on multiple films at once (both for the experience and the money), but I would imagine that scheduling usually prevents this.

Besides, I don't think Marvel or Disney are that desperate for Avengers 2 that they would burn bridges with the actors and crews just to have a turnaround in two years. Not when they already have plans in the works for IM3, Thor 2 and Cap 2.

The Deathly Hallows films were different, as it was two halves of one long story. So basically it was the equivalent of one 4-hour-long movie instead of two separate films (with separate story arcs). Mostly it's due to the change in format. Very few people would want to sit through a 4 hour film, but will happily sit and read a 700-page novel.

The same thing is true for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Technically it's all one book/movie, but it was broken up into three parts (which was originally due to a suggestion by Tolkien's publisher). Breaking Dawn is another example of one long narrative broken into two films due to the change in medium.

I bet this was all started by Batman.

Jason Abbadon 05-11-2012 02:06 PM

Ha! Probably! That same whiner has nnothing to say about the guy Cap tosses off the helicarrier or Tony's drinking a scotch not being good role models, or the wanton destruction, Hulk's overt violence or government secret weapon of mass destruction programs- but an offhand comment about the villian.....for shame! That's outta bounds!

It's a movie, moron.
