My main concern is the head being ball jointed and looking decent on a mcu 3.75 Star Lord.

MUfan97 01-17-2018 12:18 AM

Hey guys, the Executioner and Enchantress pack is $3.87 on Amazon as an add-on item. I kinda like how the current spare looks on my wall while they wait for customizing, so I'm kinda considering getting one to display in the box permanently...Is it weird to have 3 of the same pack?

Also, I've hit a small snag in my Venom custom that I'm doing with Skurge. The lower arms and lower legs are messing with my smooth look that I want, and my sandpaper is hurting my hand more than the details I don't want(especially around the boot area). Should I just try using another piece, or could it be something wrong with my method?

Primacron 01-17-2018 06:25 AM

Thank guys, EMH had such a huge effect on my collection, I basically only buy characters that appear in that show. Well, and X-men TAS.

Excited about the possibility of decent Jurassic Park figures though.

Sender 01-17-2018 10:10 AM

Marvelous customs, LordMudd!

Hey Creator!

Awesome throne, Pilkster!

5 POA or not, i'm happy there are 3.75 inch lines coming with Jurassic World, Rampage, new Corps, and even Funko Teen Titans (which i've already seen for sale on the secondary market )

I watch a lot of Adam Savage (From Mythbusters) videos on his tested channel and he makes/creates all sorts of things. On more than one occasion he mentions that sandpaper should never be overused, stating that each use actually changes the grit and if you are using really old sandpaper there is no telling how much grit is actually still there. That being said you should look on craigslist/ebay/facebook market for an adjustable speed dremel. It will make the work you are trying to accomplish so much easier.

Well guys and gals a sad day happened over the long weekend...

I actually boxed up my entire 3.75 collection and tore down the diorama. After two years of losing interest thanks to Hasbro, I'm just not as passionate about them as I once was. It is really weird how much time and effort I put into the displays only for them to be glanced over occasionally and collect dust. I am still active on here and I have zero plans to sell my nearly complete collection, but I do feel like a small part of me died. I enjoy seeing everyone's customs, there is so much talent displayed in each piece, but I have lost interest in making customs too. I just feel like Hasbro abandoned something that had endless potential, and I feel the money they want for their current offerings is better spent on other things.

Best of luck completing your collections and fingers-crossed that toy fair will perhaps resurrect the line and I will once again be building another diorama, lol

I got a new one recently at Home Depot.

Sad news, indeed, K Dubious. Your videos and customs will remain milestones in my book. Don’t be a stranger here.

Meanwhile, other brands and customs will fill the void for the 3.75 universe until Hasbro ‘unrests’ the MU line.

This is natural. Like Sender, I'm buying more 3.75" I wouldn't have otherwise, like Aliens, Predators, zombies, fantasy, etc just to keep that feeling of collecting MU going.

K Dubious 01-17-2018 02:30 PM

I almost went that route and I still may pick up some 3.75 things outside of MU, but I always tell myself to stay in my lane when it comes to collecting. I don't want to fill my shelves with stuff that I am only interested in because of the lack of MU.

I actually have been getting way more video game related collectibles lately. I am glad that some of these pixel characters are finally getting the physical plastic treatment that I always wished for as a kid.

DerStahlhelm 01-17-2018 08:34 PM

I’m disappointed we’re not getting a 3.75” Legends two pack for Black Panther like we have for all the other recent MCU films.. those have been some of the best stuff in that scale to hit retail in a while.

snake5289 01-17-2018 08:36 PM

You'd think it'd be a no-brainer since the bad guy is just Panther with some slight changes to the suit.

How I understand you... for me as well the lack of POA on the new releases, the lazy repaints, and also the problems of distribution regarding 50th Joes (getting them from France was such a pain) just saddens me to the point that I'm almost losing interest in 3.75 toys anymore. I bought the discounted Rogue One and Eps7/8 vehicles, but couldn't find any enthusiasm toward the figs...

I still try to find a Radioactive Man and a Tiger Shark for a decent price, and I think I'll be done with the 3.75 line.
I hope the Mattel Jurassic stuff will revive this scale...

There are only a handful of lines strong enough to revive a scale and Jurassic is not one of them. Worse, the lines that could are all being deliberately undermined by someone ( not implying a single super villain theory here) at the source. Dwight Stall is doing it to MU at Hasbro in favor of 6". Toyguru did it to DCiH at Mattel in favor of MotU. Each individual has their own motive, but when they are allowed to get away with it, it hurts us, which irreparably harms the company's name and reputation. There is hope with Funko and Super 7 doing a large variety of lines in this scale simultaneously, but they are a new company and it will take them time to build up, and an individual within the ranks could destroy all of that too easily.

Action figures a dying phenomenon no matter the scale.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...atigue-sets-in

Kids aren't buying because they aren't impacted as much by these "big" movies as we were. Adults collection are still buying but big toy makers can't figure out how to please nostalgic collectors and kids together.

Agree. Bigger fear is no Infinity War 2 packs. What a wasted opportunity.

Hey, guys who know their Miliput: a small question:

Did some work on Venom yesterday, and as I'm somewhat impatient, I just am Milliputing over those areas I was supposed to sand, and Milliputing above them to help them blend into the leg. I also sculpted the head for obvious reasons. It takes far more than 2-3 hours for it to dry for me(might be the humidity in my area or the cold that seeps into my room no matter what, Idk), but I've encountered an odd thing in that the legs have dried up fine, but the head and lower arms are still a bit Gloopy. The fact that the legs dried show that I mixed it properly, so I don't know what is going on right now...

Screw the kids, they have their toys and we have ours. They don't have to be the same market. It is like cartoons, the Japanese figured out that there is an adult market and produce for it. American animators still treat it like a kids only market. Right now the most successful American animation is not in movies or on TV, it is direct distribution, the one thing DC has done right over Marvel. These movies do not have a lot of nudity and gore, even though they could, but they are clearly written for adults whereas most mainstream animation is not just targeting kids, but overtargeting them.

You can buy just the figures themselves as well on the Legion of Collectors site if you are a subscriber to their boxes.

95% of what is in those boxes I do not want and have no way to get rid of, so I will take my chances on the aftermarket. Besides, 3/4 have shipped.

Greetings beautiful people!!!

Been away then was back and got caught up in life and sort of forgot about stuff here...then after being away didn't know how to return. Just read about the wonderful K Dubious and his packing away of all things great in our scale. I too am amazed at the time and energy I have poured into this line. The thrill is gone, not dead but not what it was. That said, I am still in it. Looking for some new stuff this year to go with the collection (boxed as well).

That Bloomberg news article was a good read from Mudd. Sad that toys and toy stores are dying. The lower quality and increased prices sure didn't help either. The constant barrage of a film each year, in my opinion, hurt the most though.

At least now the Star Wars stuff is just all bundled together and the 6" Marvel stuff (old habit, I should just say Marvel stuff as there isn't a 3.75" line anymore) is just released in waves in the same packaging. We all remember the Iron Man, Avenger, Thor and Cap figure lines that clogged the pegs. The more of the same in rapid succession inevitably helped end the movie tie in for our scale. Lessons learned and implemented now by Hasbro.

Maybe it needed to die. Either to be reborn or simply laid to rest. It pains me that it isn't still.a.thing and I have recently seen the SkittlePool party pack on eBay only to laugh and then I felt sad. That crap little box was our swqn song, our Grande Finale and it and me feel empty about the whole thing. Gone is the distain for Stahl and company and also gone is the passion. My lad just turned 12 two weeks ago but asked to get the Marvels (as we call the plastic tubs that house our once most coveted possessions) out this weekend. I usually only get the SOME of the figures out. This weekend I am going whole hog though! Playsets, vehicles, the large BAF stuff you name it, I'm dragging it out. I mean, how many more "plays" are they gonna get? Those days are numbered.

With instagram and his PS VR winning most of his time now, girls will be around the corner and good bye childhood. So I will cherish what time with the wonderful world of Marvel 3.75" I have left. I will will give it a proper ending and a worthy farewell in my house! I am waking up at 6 am Saturday and will spend 3 hours setting it ALL up all over the kitchen and living room. Even if it is just played with for an hour then I spend four hours bagging and tagging....It will be worth it.

I will post more often my friends. I will not be a stranger. It is funny in that if you take a break here it is hard to come back. I am glad that I did and I have a lot of reading to catch up on! Good to see you my friends!

Sender 01-19-2018 12:20 AM

Welcome back, UKMU!

As I mentioned my collecting milestones to K Dubious earlier, let me say your customs & pictures (including your signature) was my inspiration to army build.

It’s what our scale was perfect for: quality figures, vehicles, playsets, & dioramas!

Sure it may take hours to set up or store, but that’s part of the appreciation of the scale and the collection.

As an avid car fan, I’ve come to appreciate not just the characters but the machines and even the architecture of our scale.

I’ve said it before, since childhood I’m a 3.75-lifer. Whether the MU returns or not, there are still customs to make, toys to be had, & things to adapt into the collection.

I hope you & your son have a “marvelous” and magical weekend, UKMU!

kostej 01-19-2018 04:31 AM

To brighten up the mood - I also contemplated what to do with my dusty 3.75 MU collection now when the line is in coma. I briefly considered packing it all as well, but decided that it still visually pleases me and I would miss seeing all those small pals and gals (and aliens and demons...) every day. So instead I dusted them off, even took them to bathroom to give them a shower, I rearranged them a little and now they look bright, clean, colourful like when I first rescued them from their plastic prison. :)
