Well if he had simply offered it to me this morning for cash or something.. he'd have been redeemed. But shitting on me and my hobby and then not getting the money he wanted for it and returning it this morning.. scum.

trebleshot 04-10-2013 08:55 AM

Yeah, that is kind of shady. Of course, there could be other legitimate reasons for returning the figure, but it certainly doesn't bode well at the moment.

Besides, HW collectors are a bunch of mixed nuts. ;)

fosterlager 04-10-2013 09:54 AM

Yeah, that's a total scalper. I don't see any way how it could NOT be.

JanSolo 04-10-2013 12:08 PM

Is that really a problem that's happening? I guess I've never run across a scalper in the act. I've seen people that have hidden figures,I'll always pull them out of hiding even if I'm not going to buy it. I figure it's only fair, if you aren't buying the figure now you have no claim to it. Hiding a figure is basically stealing it until you decide to buy it which isn't cool. It is ridiculous that the store wouldn't sell you that Blastar though, I mean how long can it take to put it back in the system? I would have just waited by the desk until they got sick of me standing there and put it back out to sell so I could have bought it.

recent pick ups from last week around phx, az. got the blastaar variant and prof x at disney store. they had a couple of the blastaar variants and a couple originals. they had a few prof x and jubilee as well. got iron man at a lcs. neither of them had nova though...

JanSolo 04-10-2013 01:41 PM

You could always buy it for $60 from this stand up guy looks as if he as two of them. NEW Marvel Universe 3.75 Nova Action Figure on eBay!

I understand wanting a figure badly, but come on people don't buy them at prices that high. Pretty much no children will ever get a Nova, which is lame collector's shouldn't come first. I'm starting to think that's why we all had Gladiators filling pegs all over, maybe the ebay scalpers all thought he'd be a big ticket item and it turned out nobody wanted him and they returned them all. IDK I didn't even realize people were being that underhanded of toys.

kylactus 04-10-2013 03:34 PM

Wow Free Shipping what a generous guy!!!!

bmorr 04-10-2013 03:41 PM

Too bad most of the Disney stores in my area are gone. How much were they though?

Ouch, just checked too and the cheapest for Nova is like 30 man so glad my buddy helped me get him.

ultraman zoffy 04-10-2013 04:55 PM

I've seen him at a local LCS for $15 here in the Sacramento area if anyone in Nor Cal is looking for him. Give World's Best Comics a call and see if he's still there

Torpedo 04-10-2013 06:28 PM

I searched the other side of the KC metro area today, 2 Wal-Marts, 1 K-Mart, 1 Toys 'R Us, and 1 Target. I saw nothing from the Professor X wave and nothing from the Nova wave. I saw lots of Gladiators peg warming and lots of Guardians of the Galaxy three packs. One Wal-Mart didn't even have a space for Marvel Universe 3.75 any longer.

The good news is my order from Amazon arrived today and I got my West Coast Avengers and Inhumans packs. Very cool!

Back to the hunt tomorrow for (in order of desire)...
  1. Nova
  2. Angel
  3. Hercules
  4. Professor X
  5. Puck

Marvel Universe Series 2 Black Widow 011 Short Blond Hair Variant | eBay
So.... opinions on this? anyone think its legit? talk me out of it please!!!!

skywarrped 04-10-2013 08:14 PM

There's very few known to exist and the company seems legit, but you never know. You would be protected by eBay's buyer protection program if it turns out to not be real. Yesterday Toyhutt listed the White Shirt Luke Cage variant and I saved it in my Watch List because I was curious to see what it would sell for. When I looked today it was gone and instead there was a Silver Surfer listing in it's place. I was very confused so I checked the revision history on the listing and it looks like they changed everything on that one (Gallery, Title, PictureURL: Pictures Added/Deleted, Buy It Now Price). Don't know if the same will happen with BW.

I've seen them online with shorter hair than that (has this ever been officially, OFFICIALLY confirmed by Hasbro to be real?), I wouldn't do it but what do I know...I'm sure you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere on other cool stuff...LOL I tried to talk you out of it, I rest my case!!!

On the Hotwheels/MU topic, There are two guys that I run into every day that are primarily HW, but also dabble in MU, SW & GI Joe...One is a scalper for sure and the other dude is more of a collector like me and we have all got along over the years...the scalper dude even offered to help me with some MU figs that I was looking for and was willing to sell them to me at retail cost, so they are not all bad guys...At least I am the youngest of the three LOL, I'm sure the Target workers think we are wierdos LOL!!! F 'em!!! Still hunting for Nova, should have bought him from my LCS a while back when they had him for $17.99...

kylactus 04-10-2013 08:26 PM

You've convinced me, the sketchy part is that, as I understand it, the "varified" BWs I've seen and on the wikapedia listing for MU come with different weapons. and the wear on the hanger area of the card make me think its seen shelf wear, would you hang a figure that rare on a peg? and the price seems waaaaaay low for a non release or prototype or whatever were calling her and white shirt luke now. side question, has anyone seen the repaint darkhawk? or have a pic of what the paint scheme is supose to be?

I've never seen the mysterious Darkhawk variant. Not sure if it really exists.

Been to every Target, Walmart, ToysRus from Lake Geneva, WI to Vernon Hills, IL

Thinking that it's almost hopeless~ :(

Check Disney Store. The one in Gurnee mills had that line in early March. That line and HitMonkey at the same time. Lately they been getting stuff first.

wylde bil 04-11-2013 04:18 AM

angel and blastaar are my only 2 i really want from the newer sets, if i see a nova ill probably pick it up

quicksilver is my number 1
2 sentinel bafs are my 2
2 mu skrulls are my 3

quinten182 04-11-2013 06:23 AM

I got a Nova from the happydaysales chinese seller and he arrived great. Yes, they're loose, but $13 for him isn't bad at all if you're planning on opening.

Side note: I have Prof X, Jubilee, regular Blastaar for trade.
Want any of these: Rogue, Strange variant, Angel

Bought for a {friend | relative | friend's kid | relative's kid} for {birthday | good grades | promotion | raise | special occasion}.
Thought to be something {he | she} would like, only to discover that [he | she] {didn't like it | wrong character/item | already had it}.
Therefore now returning it for a {refund | exchange}.

...but do I think any of this applies in this particular scenerio? To quote the Duke: "Not hardly." ;)

No, not from Hasbro directly. There was an Ebay auction from David Vonner for one, though. So apparently there were some in-package prototypes made, but it looks like that's as far it ever got.

Like I said, not all HW collectors are bad. And man am I glad I found my Nova at retail. I didn't even realize he was that HTF (well any more than any of the others in his wave).

Doubtful. Most likely the "variant" we saw at SDCC two years ago was a custom paint job done for the diorama and not an actual future release.

We put little blocks of wood in the floor wells to stop the figures slipping down JB

Jackieboy 04-11-2013 01:41 PM

i just used some blue tac on the seats :)

Goldengreg 04-11-2013 04:26 PM

Oh now I understand why I won't find any!
I'm in Miami for the holidays and was expecting to find some when casually go to target or Ross for la wife and le kid, but nothing except some guardian of galaxy and a damaged Ben Reilly ... I didn't know MU were rare in the US. If I knew, I would have bought them at my comic shop in Paris. They're 14 euros a piece, but there's a lot of them... I was hoping for some nice savings I didn't imagined how much they were subjected to speculating.
For information, is there MU figures in Walgreen, or it s only Walmart and target?
Thank you!
