What do you think of this? More along the lines why the X-Men are getting shafted when it comes to figures being made for them.

i think this mostly hasbro's fault or marvel or whoever distributes them , The guardians of the galaxy may look amazing and i hope it does but releasing figures not 1 month but 2 months early is a little bit risky and silly okay fans of the marvel verse sure we might by 1 , 4 or the whole set of GTOG figs but x-men they had a perfect line up which they ruined i reckon if magneto was replaced with rouge or the line was bigger like amazing spider-man 2 wave. The crossover with spider-man and avengers wont happen soon not until Sony run out of ideas , espically with a sinister six movie where we already have erm 4 of the characters done[lizard ? , Goblin , Rhino and electro.. , and just need to be released 2 more which are vulture and dr.ock , by the time rumors of venom and carnage hit the screen as well possibly after or before the sinister six depending on the roster of characters Avengers might of been finished i personally cant see an avengers 4 happening unless marvel make the whole storyline
intresting

I mean remember those batman films first 2 amazing, er 3 one going down hill.. but 4 one we try to forget, although the children wont care just like i did at a childish age i could watch batman and robin again again but now im like no , if avengers 4 says civil war then awesome ! i give it a shot , but if marvel ever say enough enough is enough which i doubt they should make a secret wars film [one can dream] there comes a point where they do need to stop as much as i say this , I'd rather it stopped than be ruined just for the money.
Spider-man is another example 1, 2, 3 although the 3rd we dont wanna say much one day we won't watch this film we got 5 spider-man films nearly beating batman at the amount of films he has.

sorry for ranting just showing my POV

Heads up. Midtown Comics website has Black Widow, Hydra Agent and AIM Agent for $30 each right now. Not a great price but better than what I have found elsewhere lately.

I think people should quit getting their hopes up that Sony and Disney are gonna stop their pissing match to provide a decent Marvel movie crossover. As for the toy thing, I'd guess it's moreso 'cause the Spider-man and Cap movies have more toy-worthy designs. Though I'd LOVE a DOFP 70's Sentinel...

more "toy-worthy"? Look at the Cap and Spidey figures, only a couple are from the movies. They used the movies to sell comic figures.

Black Arbor 06-02-2014 05:46 PM

Well, yeah. I'd bet dollars to donuts they get more sales on comic-based figures than movie ones (Black Widow notwithstanding.) To be fair though, If I were one of the higher ups at Hasbro choosing which movie to back with a toy line, I'd rather go with designs like this

ASM2 Spider-Man is basically wearing a comic book costume. Electro is the only real movie figure. But yes, even the two movie Caps and the WS figure are passable as comic book costumes.

I know a lot of the X-Men costumes just wouldn't work on the screen but they've had so many different costumes that some would. It doesn't all have to be black leather. Even the First Class costumes had some nice coloring. I think a variation of the blue/yellow uniforms should be adopted. I hate that they even deleted the end scene from "The Wolverine" where he gets his classic yellow.

That made me mad too! But I bet if they just took the best looks for their characters, (i.e Jim Lee Cyclops, Brown and orange Wolverine, Mohawk punk Storm, Astonishing Colossus) and just did their damnedest to bring it to the big screen, it'd both look better than leather jumpsuits, and there'd be a lot more merchandise made for the X movies.

(I don't care what anyone says, I like Mohawk punk Storm) :D

Iceman 06-02-2014 08:16 PM

For Cyclops I think they would have to do the modern Astonishing and beyond version. Astonishing could work for Wolverine and Cyclops as well. Jean it harder. I think that because they are a team they assume people want to seem them in uniforms, or at least in similar colors.

kylactus 06-02-2014 09:16 PM

I thought the blue and yellow costumes in "first class" looked really good, they had a "real life" look wile still being true to the comics. as far as the wolverine costumes, one tweek would have made them 100% better, loose the sleeves! of every variation of every costume wolverine has ever had, when I think wolverine I think sleeveless! jackman spent most of the movies in a tank top, why the hell are all of his uniforms biker jackets? and as far as the DOFP costume goes, why the hell is a guy that can shake off a nuclear blast wearing body armor? or pads for that matter! who cares if you scrape your knee? as far as Jean goes I'd go either green dress marvel girl (although that would probably be considered "sexist" nowadays)or some variation of her first class comic look. bottom line marvel needs to get there properties back. they got the designs right for the Avengers and the only way you can really tell any marvel story, and not make true diehard fans angry, is to tell the whole story with cross overs and references. that is what makes the Marvel Universe so great, the complexity of all of these dynamic characters interacting all over the world and beyond. Hell if I recall correctly Reed Richards designed the X-mens uniforms, and he and Captain America inspired Spider man to do his thing. plus if I die before they make a Hulk Vs Wolverine movie I'm gonna be pissed!

Serious Lee 06-02-2014 09:24 PM

In kind of the same vein, but...I'd like to see more Marvel animated films. DC seems to have no issues with pumping them out, and for the most part I enjoy them all. I don't know any facts on this but does Fox own the rights to the mutants in toon form as well?

Hulk vs. Wolverine was fun, as we got to see a few baddies getting crunched and a little bit of Deadpool's wit. In the pay-as-you-go Astonishing X-Men, we got to see lots of great things, including Armor (is that her name?), who by the way would make an awesome BAF. I think there is so much room for the 'creatives' at Marvel/ Disney to flesh out the universe with crossovers, space and helllloooo Secret Wars in a 3 part series et al. (Hahaha - make it happen)

Or maybe, Marvel doesn't see the dough in this anymore? They do have the ability to get figures made from toon movies just the same as feature films without promoting outside interests and there are tons of them waiting to be made or remade better.

I think eventually we'll see the X-Men in comic garb on the big screen, I mean....there will be reboots just like Spidey and Bats down the line. Teletoon up here usually plays a toon movie on Friday nights, they premier some very soon after the initial release, and I've never seen any of the figures I collect advertised during the shows, but what do I know?

Netflix is doing the 4 mini- series next year with Iron Fist et al, and will combine it into a feature or two, could their be figures for those programs? Agents of Shield had Deathlok's son looking at figs though a store window early on, but no ads in prime time for the goods, and no goods for collectors or fans, but sell more soap and TGIFridays $9.99 specials I'm afraid...

Flesh it out and make me my damn Rogue and Polaris already!

kylactus 06-02-2014 09:34 PM

yah you would think with the Disney/ Pixar animation machine at there disposal Marvel would be putting out something better than these "animatic" comics. I cant stand them personally. I feel like I'm five again with my mom reading me comics and showing me the pictures! since Astonishing X-men they did a weapon X, wolverine Vs Sabertooth, and a couple of Henti, Japanese style movies with Iron Man, the X-men, and I think they did a punisher one too. they were watchable, I'd recommend getting inebriated first though.

Sold off all my extra Widows after deciding I only wanted one, but since I have her displayed with my movie Avengers team, I wanted to do something with the alt long haired head... so I made this Street Battle Widow variant to fight it out with my Winter Soldier figure. Fun figure to have in my movie display... =)

I would file this under rumor, speculation and outright wishful thinking. Look who is quoted as the source, first. He doesn't even work for Marvel anymore and I'm pretty sure he's pulling this out of his ass just like everyone else who's playing this particular guessing game.

Dude, I'm with you. By far, my favorite look for Ororo. Second favorite would probably be her "Gold Team Leader" outfit from the 90's.

For those interested in going this route: Amazon prices on GOTG figures aren't too bad right now. They're stocked by Amazon and I just snagged Gamora (the only one I wanted really) for $19.99

what was the build for this figure? is it just a head swap or did you sculpt/mash all the pieces to build her? It looks AWESOME!!

I have a quick recipe rundown on my FR page. Her limbs are a mash-up of various figure parts (and I just realized her lower arms were flipped upside down in my pic... lol):

I could totally see Wolverines outfit here with the Brown/Orange pattern(or even the Yellow on for that matter). For the pants the material around the outside thighs could have been Orange on the outside and Brown on the inside where the seem splits it. Leave the Black boots and knee pads and leave the 3 Black Strips in. Then have the top with some Orange around the Rib area and make the breast plate stuff Brown and Black mix. I agree about what someone said about sleeveless, Hugh has the arms to pull of the bulky muscle look. This outfit as well as the other could have been so much better had they just added a little color to each.

Maybe some White/Red/Black mix for Storm
Prof X is fine in Black
Magneto could easily be in Red/Purple (whatever the other color is)
Would love to see Kitty with some Yellow on her outfit as well.

I like the costumes, just lacked some comic/character color.

I've had this idea in my head since watching the movie. Glad someone got around to making it happen. Looks great!

It seems the X-men Legends have hit the Hong Kong area considering these ebay auctions. How long does it usually take for these figures to hit the states?
