Have you guys seen the pics of the Jurassic Park/Fallen Kingdom figures (they're in the JP Thread). Can't tell if they have ball-joint shoulders/elbows but they may be decent fodder parts and there does appear to be a decent Chris Pratt likeness on Owen.

Seen better looking happy meals toys from Micky Ds. I guess my local big lots will be drowning in these by the summer.

I collected the 4' MU from 2008 till 2014 or whenever they started cheaping out on the POA. Once they eliminated the ab crunch & biceps swivel , I called it a day & started selling off my MU collection. Had actually dropped the ML line once I saw the 4' MU line pop up due to more space & lower price point with the newer smaller line. But the POA was the selling point for me as well. Once they cut down on that, I said "later for you."

Got back into the newer Hasbro ML line in 2013 & haven't regretted it.

Dragasses 02-16-2018 03:59 PM

I would love for someone who has actual knowledge about the cost of these things.

like is it cheaper to make a flat boring sculpt? looks like these use about the same amount of plastic, have a couple of accessories, maybe a little less on the paint app side but not terribly different. so how much cheaper are these to produce then legends?

so these are $10, legends are $20 but they are really similar in size, so what's the deal?

now clearly articulation is a factor, but how much longer does it take to assemble a 20 point figure, or this, what looks to be a 7 point figure. time = money, but...

also why does the stuff aimed at the younger crowd need to be flat, boring and featureless, don't kids like the detailed legends sculpts...

I don't know. just ramblin'.

The news about those upcoming 5 inch figures with Infinity stones is strange. Certainly seems like those will peg warm. But I don't keep track of the 5 inch stuff enough to tell if they really sell at any of the retail locations I've seen them at. Just an odd scale and gimmick. Suppose time will tell how that goes.

Thanks T Ross.

But I've never heard of anybody being excited for or talking about 5" figures specifically.

I believe Hasbro has been ‘toying’ (lol..I crack myself up) with scales since the first Guardians movie with those 2.5 inch line that spilled over to Age of Ultron. They seem to be keeping up with the Jones (like Mattel & Playmates) and settled for a 5 inch line designed for kids since the Guardians cartoon. The 5 inch scale must be making traction somewhere as I figured Hasbro would have abandoned it as they did the 2.5 inch.

Like Jay West, I’d also buy these 5 inch figures if they were an inch shorter.

The MCU 3.75 two-packs were the best value for quality sculpts & figures before the line went on hiatus. And as you mentioned cost and space can be a huge factor when you are a collector.
But it seems the Marvel Legends 6 inch line may get a price hike to $25 with the ‘Premium’ collection as I don’t see why Hasbro would want to produce two collector-oriented ML lines.

Where $100 previously bought you 5 ML figures it could soon be down to 4.

Well if andwhen Legnds goes up thats it for me. 20 is my cutoff point like when mu whent to above 8-9 bucks. 8 bucks was pushing it but ten and above then they took away stands and files at the ten point then de-articulation and less gear came in.

nope mostly targeted at kids directly
Hasbro is still mostly in denial that a collector market exists besides 6 inch

the other problem with the 2 packs were there is not much variety
therefore you are pretty much flooding the market with 4 figures

Shoot, @nitelife. It's called inflation. Stuff doesn't stay the same price forever.

Bah inflation is just an excuse bro ;) . And it seems the more hasblow increases prices the less we get. So unless theres gonna be more ( better qc would be one way to go ) they arent gettin my money.

kylactus 02-16-2018 09:56 PM

What dude you missed the 150% inflation since 2002? What great time thy was, Milk was a dime, cell phones were 20$ and for a wheat penny you could take in two viewings of the latest bogart picture at the cinema...

seriously, I think they might be floating this price to test reaction for FEAR of predicted inflation last quarter due to the recent economic boom, but having those fears quelled by the federal reserve announcement of a marginal inflation rate around 2.3, and the holding of interest rates I don’t see them needing to raise prices, and I doubt they actually will, at least not until we experience some real inflation, but that won’t happen until at least three quarters of sustained growth in the economy, and that’s under normal economic conditions, with the us, and for the most part world economy pulling out of recession I’d wager the fed will hold off on stifling growth with raised interest rates, figure that in with increased money valuation from a strengthening US dollar because of an increased share of consumer production and the 20$ price will probably hold, even though the purchase power of that 20 will actually increase, so you will be trading more value for your figure, but the same number of dollars....

Those look better than expected. i hope they are around the same sizes as the previous 3.75 Multiverse line.

Jason Abbadon 02-17-2018 12:45 AM

The smallest George figure from the movie Rampage looks great for a Gorilla Man custom.
Wish his arms had more articulation, but it's the best gorilla fig in this scale.

I really wish they would, but that was so long ago I guess it is dead. Those figures if not too small would work well with MU (and Joes).

I saw a few Game of Thrones Funko 6" figs at Target- almost bought John Snow's wold because it was REALLY nice....now I wish I had- it'd be perfect for the huge Loth Wolf from Rebels season 4!

Here's a GoT throne in 4" scale-

Go to 6:05 and see the coolest feature in awhile. The rest is worth a watch too.... the 3.75” stuff is in the first two or three minutes.

Ninjinister 02-17-2018 02:35 AM

I wish we were getting some MCU 10th Anniversary figures. Some of them are damn cool.

ML6 is getting Pepper and Trevor!

Thats one hell of a run on sentence. Did you remember to bring take a breath? :p haha had to bust ya chops a bit bud. ;)

I was just thinking, because I hate the hell out of demonizing people who don't deserve it.

What's the evidence that Dwight actually actively hates our scale? I don't follow like every interview or whatever do has he actually said anything direct? Is there a chance that someone above him is forcing his hand?

I guess its possible....but then who is sitting on the throne in hell if lucifer is up here? ;)

ukmu 02-17-2018 04:04 AM

Ha! Nice one.

It is his smug way of playing off the scale when ever asked about it. He has this shitty grin even. If you watch pretty much anything with him in it and his reaction to 3.75” questions it is clear. He also constantly says 6” is the ‘collector’ scale. When pressed about our scale he almost always laughs and passes the questions off too.

Autobot_Goldbug 02-17-2018 04:32 AM

I think I will need one of those T-Rexs and lots of red paint :D

Haha you guys are funny ;) But its not just US inflation, China is going through a bit of inflation because of the increasing size of their middle class. It puts pressure on the wages in these factories. Assembly and spray painting are big chuncks of labor costs.

Its an attitude that's been obvious over the years. However, the past year or two Dwight has been more subdued was actively deferring 4" questions to team-members like Vala. But back when MU and ML were both competing for attention, him and Falcon would actively deride 4" as not for collectors and inferior to their 6" product. They would say shit like "Now for the real stuff" when moving slides from 4" to 6". They would give Vonner shit about his product. I remember some back-and-forth on the SDCC panel where they where giving Vonner shit and Vonner replied if they stopped 4" then all the money would dry up too. (At the time, 4" profits were helping the comeback of 6"). This was in a public-facing panel! It was pretty ridiculous since they could have succeeded as a team but instead instilled division and competition between their own products.

Oxycodone + degree in economics....

I’m wondering if the price hike may be a way for testing the waters for bringing the manufacturing back to the US? They do a cost analysis on what a figure domestically produced would cost, float the 6” 10th annaversery wave at the new price point to see how the public reacts. If they sit sell them at discount and still make there money, if they sell well bring the factories back home and roll on. That may also explain the strange groupings of singles, 2 packs and 3 packs. A lot of variety for a single wave, unless it’s purposly research driven...

Fast forward to the 7:45 mark, there is a 3.75" collector that expresses our concerns.

This is probably the best, least flippant and least dismissive answer I’ve heard Dwight give on the 3.75” subject

Sithlord1963 02-17-2018 12:05 PM

So, zip, zilch, nada in our scale from Toyfair seemingly. Looks like Mattel's getting my money this year.

hasbroherofan 02-17-2018 12:09 PM

They announced Hasbro will be continuing their Gamerverse line in the 3.75 inch scale, and are making figures from Street Fighter and Contest of Champions.

Just saw that. Maybe we can get at least a few more 2 packs.
