Hopefully though you're right and they'll do another, maybe even a bunch of the bikes. I'm not fond of the new movie's bike. It's just too bland. I liked the first movie's bike and would love to get my hands on a daniel ketch era GR bike.

The most we might get for the avengers line though in vehicles is that flying car, maybe a recolored wolverine movie bike, so other vehicles repainted, and possibly the shield helicarrier from SHS repainted. I do hope they go all out and give us a shield helicarrier that opens up into the triskellion, but I doubt it.

I am digging that avengers movie captain america though. So far he might be the only one I buy from that line unless they show off some more, and have some comic series figures. I'm expecting minimum at least a hawkeye and black widow in the line as well as nick fury. All three of those I'd buy in a heartbeat since I don't already have them. Thor and Ironman I've already picked out what I want for my movie avengers team.

Wait wait... they've shown some of the movie figures? Where can I find this?

I doubt it. Id be surprised if these are on par with the Thor movie line toys and IMO crap when compared to MU but I hope im wrong. From that first picture im not impressed at all.

They'll be better than thor if not on par, and outright better than early MU. The new MU bucks are another matter, but like cap's movie, there's a good chance they'll use those bucks.

Ironman looks like he's about the same as the ironman 2 movie line if not better(though missing torso swivel of any kind and ankle articulation), thor is the same as his movie line though more detailed(again missing ankle and torso articulation), and captain america looks like all kinds of win with the swivel cut thighs even though he doesn't have lower torso swivel(which would be hard for all of these with the details), he does have upper torso swivel it looks like. All three don't look like they have any ankle articulation, but they are still leaps and bounds above the GL movie toys with the elbow swivels. I don't mind the lack of ankle and waist swivel if the details stay that awesome though. It's a shame for cap though. He needs the ankle articulation more than the others do, like black widow would and hawkeye would. I am hoping they just retool the black widow IM2 figures head, and use it recolored to match the movie. So it might be a mixed bag. The sculpts on the three pictured though are utterly amazing.

EDIT
You know looking at these figures, you can see some of the limbs were probably prototypes and may have some bits added still. Though I'm not counting on it, cap could still get ankle articulation. It looks like some of those limbs were thrown on other parts that already had the articulation like cap's thigh swivel, but new mold boots.

After seeing these up close and in person at SDCC, prototype or not, these figures suck when compared to what we know is possible in MU via the likes of Cable, Jim Lee Cyclops, Dr. Strange and Steve Rogers. I personally do not like the lack of an elbow swivel or bicep swivel on the cap figures and in some cases also the lack of a wrist swivel.

I won't even begin to critique to Thor Line. I pretended it just never happened. The Iron Man Line was definitely the better supplement line for MU with a few of the Cap Comic series added (Crossbones and Bucky Cap specifically) to be fair.

Bottom line, Comic book movie toy lines are starting to become to movies what their respective video game productions are; underachieving and disappointing. You might get an exception here or there, but I'd say they're few and far between.

Actually the Thor figures did have The Destroyer that fits pretty good with MU

Much Like Mandarin and Pandas raised in Zoo's...very few were actually released into the wild.

I don't have that figure. and never saw it.

cainraw 09-19-2011 03:56 PM

In the last 3 days i've seen these in 3 different Targets, I think the west coast was the last to get all these.

The thor line and ironman line share the same articulation(same as the wolverine line). Cap varies figure to figure, but are in line towards MU without the Upper arm swivel on some.
These have the IM2, Thor elbows though. They do indeed have elbow swivel, just no upper arm swivel. Overall, the figures between the movie lines of all of them have been great and varied as much as MU bucks have. Or have you already forgotten about that first wave of MU and original female body? I know I want to block those out sometimes too. xD

D00MTR0N 09-19-2011 04:49 PM

im not sure if anyone else noticed but there seems to be a slight blackwash to Ultrons gauntlets and back, maybe everywhere slightly but the hands and back seems to have it the most, its only noticable out of packedge though,I think it adds to the color and makes this figure worth it.

The Thor Line's "good" figures, aren't even Thor. IMO. I passed on the warriors 3, haven't seen a Destroyer and didn't even see Wave 2 in stores until 3 weeks ago. The paint apps were inconsistent on what I saw in stores and were pretty bad. I loved the movie, but I could care less about the figures the line offers. I choose MU line to get what I want out of a Thor figure and Loki. Movie Thor in 3.75" scale did not appeal to me this time 'round.

IM2 had so much variety that I thought was impressive. Paint apps were good (Movie Whiplash notwithstanding). I just wish I would have seen the Mandarin wave in stores. I had no problems with articulation on this wave with the minor complaint that the lacked the neck articulation of Extremis Iron Man in MU.

Cap figures, with the exception of Bucky Cap, Winter Soldier and Crossbones (I didn't bother with any of the Hydra goons so I won't comment on them) were NOT on par with MU IMO. If you want to say they are in line with MU from the waist down that's fine, but that just leaves much desired in my personal opinion.

I haven't forgotten the first waves of MU or the female bodies, that was also three years ago. They've improved their figures since then. I honestly believe they just slack on general movie figure molds because those are more durable and will be most likely to be bought for children who will actually play with them. The comic figures in Movie Lines are the more articulated because they are aiming for the collector audience with these additions.

MU is strictly a collectors line and will get the better molds and articulation as a result. From a marketing perspective I would expect movie lines are geared more towards kids primarily and collectors second. So corners will be cut to save on expenses. Gotta increase that Gross Margin ;)

If this is indeed the case then these things will be easy to pass on.

I accept minor scale discrepancies... I've been a movie figure guy since I was a lil kid, so I intend to keep getting them. I fear with Avengers I may have to do some modifications though. Oh well. I've read embedding strong magnets makes good swivel joints, so I guess I'll do that if it comes down to it... still, we shouldn't have to.

Ronin Assassin 09-19-2011 08:37 PM

Nice stuff do boy......On another note....I just found all g.I. joe renagades figs at walmart.....Awesome set....I know a lot of ppl on the boards are hating on these.....But I think they are great.....Good luck ppl...

Fair enough, and a fair assessment. I didn't really count all the various captain america himself figures, siding those with as you said, kid fodder.
Thor was a bit heavy handed on Thor as well, which is why I let much of that slide as kid fodder too, but it does have some fantastic figures and articulation, just not so much with heimdall. Heimdall has the elbow syndrome you complained about at the start.
