It's not until after AvX in October, the first title of the relaunch.

Veronica Mars 08-05-2012 12:51 AM

Not picking up Uncanny Avengers, too many mutants and I don't like the shared team.

Both Academy and Secret are cancelled from what I've seen- Secret was always a train wreck but was getting better under Remeder and academy was always suprisingly excellent (well, except taht dumbass kid and his fat Gigantor knockoff Sentinel).

Gillen on Iron Man is GREAT..but everyone I know is skippng the book because that tracing hack Greg Land is doing art.

Hickman on Avengers is the only realy great news to come of all this- and taht;s only assuming they put Simonson back out to pasture. I looooved his 80's Thor run, but he's lost it. Art on Avengers had been pretty terrible this entire run.

Remender & Romita Jr.are relaunching Captain America...hopefully Jr will bring his A-game and not his stuff from Avengers.

And, for laughs, they took Hickman OFF FF and Fantastic Four and put Matt "responsible for the disaster that was Fear Itself and defenders" Fracton writing it....I predeict FF cancelled within the year.

Yup. He's been cured of the virus. Which makes him the most powerful telepath/telekinetic on the planet now. Marvel has yet to deal with that or if the cure took away his powers too. It probably didn't, but we'll see as the future progresses.

Academy is sticking around for a bit, but I haven't checked the solicits for after October yet.

Bendis and JrJr are relaunching Captain America...not sure how I feel about that, really.

Secret is 'canceled' sort of at least. Academy has got solicits for October, but I haven't checked for November yet. Final Exam isn't the final story arc though. In october during the aftermath of AvX features, they'll be doing an Avengers Academy vs Jean Grey School athletic competition issue. Like the old school Xavier institiute powers sports matches.

The smart thing also would be to keep it and cross promote it with Ultimate Spider-man. Though doing that, they may eventually end up putting spider-man in the title somehow.
I still think that may eventually be the plan though when Ultimate Spidey expands in coming seasons. They'd need a season or two to establish and grow the current cast first, but with white tiger on the team, it always made me think the plan was to grow it towards an avengers academy type format with spider-man as the center piece. That initial White Tiger cross promoting is what's also helping keep AA safe for now. With the change in the format of the Avengers comic though, I'm not sure how long that may last.

I do like the change in the format, but they should have done it in a larger issue styling to allow for more stories per month that way. That's another reason why side titles are still needed for the forseeable future.

Think of the comic talk as foreshadowing of future figures and repaints. xD

Jason Abbadon 08-05-2012 01:47 AM

Marvel Comics crazy talk impacts Marvel Toy crazy talk!
Be sure to watch for toys of all the characters they royally fuck up- like pre-adolesent Nightcrawler, Cable with an eyepatch, teen Jean Grey and Iron Man in his black and gold armor (shudder).

Scythe 08-05-2012 01:49 AM

I'm still hella ready for Mattal to step up their game and give us highly articulated Supes and Bats. Fat chance though, kid can dream.

Jason Abbadon 08-05-2012 02:01 AM

Yeah, you're dreaming for realz- Mattel is not even making figs for the upcoming Superman movie as far as I can tell...and the excellent looking but too small GL convention exclusives seem to break easily and cost more than any three 6" figures.

Scythe 08-05-2012 02:08 AM

I like the GL set, but don't really care if I own it or not. If next year they come out with like a Trinity set or something, fecal matter will fly.

Jason Abbadon 08-05-2012 02:43 AM

I'd be ALL OVER the GL figures if only
A) they were in scale with MU (they're more 3.5" than 3.75)
B) they were not so fragile.

But I'm hoping some caster offers those heads- I'd make customs of Kilowog and Kyle in a minute- and Vortious already offers heads for Atrocitus, Rankorr and Saint Walker...

I've seen some great Superman and Batman customs but never a good Wonder Woman in 3.75-4" scale....

This place has multiple Dr.s and when I've ordered from them in the past they've shipped in days, not months.

I like Tron Ironman they have right now. That story looks like it might dive into some interesting familial ties or some other concepts. I am curious where the title will go once fracion leaves though. I'm hoping for a more human side of Stark to step forward alongside more of his old school style of crazy inventions. Everything else.... Uh, there's a reason I only read like 3 marvel titles now, and these changes aren't helping that. xD

Hey! They're the cost of about 2 6'' figures. xD But yeah they are crazy pricey for the quality they offer.

A) MU scale is about 4-4.25 now. The DC figures are actual 3.75, the size of the original RAH GI Joe line and roughly around the early modern joe figures. Those have been getting taller lately too from Hasbro.
B) Yeah that does suck. T_T

I'm okay with the size some as it offers height variety within characters, but I do hope they vary that up more later so some are bigger. I can stomach a 5 foot Kyle, or a 5 foot John stewart or even a 5 foot hal jordan and guy gardner or other Skittles Corps characters, but when you get to guys like Batman and Superman, anything less than them appearing 6 foot in comparison to the other figures just doesn't work for me.

I use the civ figure that came with the Magnugigas from dragon Knight as a Matt Smith Doctor head. xD That's the head that Doom 2099 holds on my shelf while I have a picture of the tardis on my hero shelf.
I like the Matt Smith Doctor as much as Eccleston and Tenant, but Doom needed a Doctor's head to hold for the shelf setup I wanted. xD

WTF why would they take hickman from one of marvels top books? the FF books rule. Im just happy bendis is writing books i dont give a shit about. Also, lets bring this comic talk over to the comics thread because it gets no attention.

It's part of the Wayne Manor playset from an older Batman playset that included the Wayne Manor that is also in my display. Think it was listed as Penguin's hideout and has the batcave on the other side.

I have alove/hate thing with custom heads. I know WHY they don't just say who they are, my problem is if I don't kinda allready know who I'm looking at the name-clue they give it doesn't help me. If I didn't know this was Keanu Reeves, calling it "Mr. Anderson" isn't helping me as a shopper. Again, I realize why it's common practice, I'm just venting my frustrations.
