I really Enjoyed the XFC movie, I though it was much better than Thor -to be fair I did not like Thor too much- but the First Class Movie was well executed and quite bold... (i) fans usually don´t like to see character misplaced in the time space continuity -examples Havok being older that Cyclops or Emma Frost being so old- and (ii) assuming that the Cuban Missile Crisis was originated because of a mutant organization

I actually love that stuff. Whenever they can do a decent job of tying in my favorite fictional characters and real life historic events I'm usually going to be a fan.

..I liked what they did with Apollo 11 in Transformers DoTM.

ORIO 09-20-2011 08:54 AM

Awesome pictures Symbiote. I've been meaning to break out my camera! Just got to wait for a night when the little Orio goes to bed early.

Also First Class kicked ass. 1000x better than Last Stand.

It's really good but in my Opinion Thor was way better!

Aaaaaaaand... I saw Apocalypse yesterday whilst picking up Dr. Doom, Scarlet Spider, Skaar and Falcon but didn't get him due to money. It ate away at me all night so I went back today and got him. Really shouldn't have done this due to money but I just had to. Nobody else had touched any of the MU figures since I went in!!

Thinking of doing a photoshop of Hulk vs Apocalypse. Not sure who'd win though and everywhere I've looked online everyone has been split on the matter.... Could have apocalypse just kicking the asses of several other Heroes. I've not really got a lot of X-men at the moment but I'm now not allowed to buy any until After Christmas under strict instruction from my Girlfriend... (think she's planning on getting them and saving them up to give me then, which is cool it's just I won't get my plastic crack fix as often)!

Does anybody know if the NY Comic.Con is going to have a Marvel Universe Exclusive or if they would show new figures from those shown in the SDCC?

its going to have the exclusives from SDCC and Hasbro says they are going to be there in full force so expect new MU Announcements. though I think theyll be focusing more on the Avengers and Spidey film figures. Maybe show off some Ghostrider movie stuff too

Nexodusrex 09-20-2011 10:27 AM

you know, I was looking at pictures of the Darkhawk, and I'm thinking this is a great figure to use as a base to make others from the Fraternity of Raptors.

I mean, with Falcons Wings painted, and a Darkhawk, and a little green or blue to the amulet and visor, and some shoulder edits, and you got Talon and Gyre

But them some people would bitch about the repaint, call Hasbro "lazy" and so on...;)

I think you meant the RoC Arctic Storm Shadow, not Firefly.

Of course, Hasbro won't repaint this figure because the articulation is different between Hasbro and MU, particularly in the legs, although lately in terms of wrists and heads too. But the head and coat would give them a huge start ...

Yup, and as I said before, I'd eat comic packs of that up if they did it!

Just went back to my target today, it still has 1 of each of the new wave minus Steve Rogers. So I replaced him in todays store pic with another Commander Rodgers.

Hasbro has used a gi mold in place of a marvel figure. The ultimate nick fury from the iron man 4 pack is a gi figure.

The roc arctic threat storm shadow is a good place to start for a fantomex stand in until mu comes out with one.

Good point - I forgot about Fury (didn't buy that one since not a huge Ultimate Marvel fan). I have seen in Q and As though that they resist crossing over between lines - which makes absolutely no sense in terms of production costs, design costs, efficiency, creativity, etc. Having so many line and having them sharing the same design in terms of heads and arms and hands, then wildly incompatible torsos and legs, makes no sense.

As popular as Fantomex is though with the fans, I imagine one day there will be a proper figure made in the MU line.

Nope- Firefly with that Storm SHadow coat (or any other coat) is 100% more accurate to his current X-Force look.
His outfit in the book rigt now is grey and everything- jsut like the X-Force box set that people say is "miscolored".

Hasbro cant help it if the damn comics keep changing up the costumes and really, what sort of black ops squad goes in with shiney chrome on their uniforms? BLack and grey are much more practical!

But still...nothing beats the sheer idiocy of the Secret Avengers- no disguises and Steve's gun now fires (I kid you not) little triangluar versions of his first shield.
Because that's Ellis' version of "stealthy". (rolleyes)

Yeah, I plan on getting an extra to make Portal! He's the Boba Fett of the MU- badass, big gun, mismatched armor...

yeah secret avengers is getting kinda rediculous. theyre having an adventure as if fear itself isnt even happening. its back to like 5 issues ago with no explanation. also, i s*** a brick when i saw my pull list for the week.

Man, I quit that book- Steve pulled down a helicopter with his bare hands and a line!Spider Man could not do that!
Moon Knight crashed into a jeep with his feet and demolished it! with no injuries!

Steve gives no second thought to Moon Knight shooting a man in the face with a grappling hook (brutally kiling him). this is supposed to me the man that screamed "Avengers Dont kill!" during Galactic Storm and quit the Avengers when they killed the Kree Supreme Intelligence (in retribution for billions of deaths it caused)?!?

Seriously bad writing.

I cant believe this is the same writer that gave us Iron Man: Extremis.

NoodleChow 09-20-2011 02:34 PM

he also uses his coma inducing untraceable dissolving shield bullets to knock out the pilots of a helicopter which promptly explodes into a nearby building. i may have to reread the rest of the secret avengers to see how he went about dispatching the baddies since they made a point to show the shield bullets only knock people out for 6 hours.

bmorr 09-20-2011 02:49 PM

all that fancy tech goes to waste when they nuke the city anyways. Also, in defense of moon knight, im guessing thier still going with "armored moon knight" from the VOTMN storyline. yeah, he basically got iron man-ish armor.

Snowflakian 09-20-2011 03:12 PM

You guys pretty much nailed it.
The only time Steve Rogers should be okay with killing is times of war. Though he is a soldier, and well shit happens, he's a good man who still gets bothered by it.

In FI, I can understand it a shade, as I said. Time of war and all that. Outside of that, he's supposed to be more cautious depending on the circumstances.

Kree-Skrull war though I'm not sure. I can see why he had his no killing stance prefering prisoners of war and to let justice handle the war criminals, but I can also see why in FI with the WWII connection that he may be more gung ho about protecting people by taking enemy combatants lives in a time of war.

Ah well, I still love the quote in the Cap movie: "Not just a soldier, but a good man." Showing that just being a soldier doesn't make you the other, and yet you can be both if you have a good heart.

D00MTR0N 09-20-2011 04:30 PM

no new wave at target but I was able to pick up a carnage, only the second time I have ever seen him in the wild.

Optimus Vader 09-20-2011 05:03 PM

I never ever saw Carnage until omega hooked me up with him a couple of months back,.. literally a day before he arrived at my door I saw him in Walmart (two of them), and ever since then I see him weekly. It's like Hasbro is fucking with me.

EDIT- I love that figure, by the way. Another great Spidy line villain.

Yeah, but they've lost taht extra special bit of consience and heroism that would make Cap go to the wall to save even a terrorist or super villian- just because they're human.
Now his just another costumed guy.

Which sucks.

Symbiote 09-20-2011 06:55 PM

Wow didn't know about all that in the new secret avengers. I got to catch up. I did read age of x. The short story on the age of x avengers is interesting. From the captain america point of view too.

NoodleChow 09-20-2011 07:08 PM

i thought secret avengers stuff was pretty well done up until the fear itself event happened. same can be said for the luke cage led thunderbolts.

and still nada in my stores. figure i'll check again friday =(

sug2763 09-20-2011 09:36 PM

Yeah, Fear Itself has been mediocre. I hope the ending is epic. I didn't mind Ellis' take on Secret Avengers. The guns were really silly, though.

sug2763 09-20-2011 09:37 PM

Is anyone reading Journey Into Mystery? It's better than the core Fear Itself book.

Venom711 09-20-2011 09:45 PM

My haul today at a target found that titanium man in the clearance section for 1.98 =]
