My pre-order is still intact from what I can tell... 4 new figures for about $56 and change is quite the deal. Thanks TRU, whether it was a screw up on your end or not, the collectors appreciate it. =P
I'll be selling Magneto off loose later though (without the BAF part) since I'm making my own custom of him right now, so keep an eye out here (or on the BST thread) if you can't land him.

I just think they come off as a bit generic now days, Reed: leader, super smart father figure. Ben: the muscle. Jonny: wise cracking smart ass kid. Sue: the woman with the ability to protect people and hide. the whole set up is too "beaver cleaver" to me. and like I said the writing over the series for a long time is just really out there. and to top it all off...I'll say it... I hate Reed and Sue's kid! or kids? how many do they have now? there are so many retcons and time skips and alternate realities and reboots in that book who the hell can keep it all straight! they are better off as background pieces until Marvel wants to devote a real writing team to stream line that title.

I agree with you about the absence of a conspiracy, but respectfully disagree with pretty much everything else you said, lol!

I honestly believe that Marvel would have cancelled the title a few years ago, if it were not for Hickman's amazing run drastically improving sales and placing the book back into the forefront of the Marvel U.

Frankly, Marvel readers don't want a team of "adventurers, explorers, and imaginauts", which is what the team has been since Mark Waid (or perhaps an even earlier writer) decided to downplay their status as superheroes and veer the book into the direction of a predominantly sci-fi book that was taking place within the context of a universe filled with superheroes.
But again, readers these days don't want this. They want stuff like Deadpool :p
Nothing against Deadpool, the creative teams on his book(s), and his readers, but that sort of character just doesn't appeal to me.

Concerning the "real writing team", over the past decade, Marvel has had nothing but their best writers on that book: Mark Waid, J. Michael Straczynski, Dwayne McDuffie, Mark Millar, Jonathan Hickman, and sadly disappointing runs by the typically talented Matt Fraction and James Robinson. The title has been one of Marvel's most consistent books, in term of writing.
Granted, Matt Fraction's run was very by-the-numbers, and Robinson's current run is nothing that Mark Waid or John Byrne didn't already do, but they were (and are) still worthwhile reads.

Whew, sorry for the rant, but Fantastic Four is one of the few Marvel books I read, and I think that it is often misunderstood as a kitschy, throwback, Silver Age-y superhero book.
I can understand if the characters don't appeal to you, as many of Marvel's other characters don't appeal to me (and LOL, I SWEAR I'm not harboring any grudge concerning your opinion of the inspiration for my ToyArk ID :) ).
We all have our own personal tastes and preferences, and I would never begrudge anyone for having their own opinions about comics, no matter how dissimilar from mine they may be.

Again, sorry for the rant, lol, as this isn't necessarily the right place for it.
Now, back to the Marvel Legends talk !!!

Has anyone seen these at retail yet? I was at Toys R US yesterday, but there was no sign of these guys.

Part of me enjoys not having to visit the 5 Walmarts, K-Mart, and 2 Targets (along with TRU) in my area in pursuit of new Legends, but it's equally as frustrating knowing that every collector and scalper in the area is stalking TRU in anticipation of the release of these figures :p

they not shipping from TRU until July 30 about a week before the movie opens so I figure them to be in store right about movie time
I don't see them being instore before the preorders ship

SteveGo 06-06-2014 05:19 PM

Was at TRU just now and saw the b1g1 40% off promo ends June 7th, so look for TRU to re-list the X-Men figs on the 8th.

Hopefully everyone's current orders don't get cancelled, but there's not much we can do about it at this point. If they do show up, I may make another order just to be safe. That would be cruel if they were to re-list, the figures sell it, then they cancel the orders made during the promo.

that would be deceptive trade practices
considering the ads were up for 8 hours and they took the orders
I don't see how they could get away with cancelling. They probably made more on these figures selling that anything else this year.

Besides preorders are a way for them to gauge what to order for the store level...so they don't end up over ordering
granted the 40% off sale probably made people order more than they normally would. I know I did....got 2 of strife incase I custom one up

Toys r us legally can't cancel your order. It's the same as if something was miss priced at the store. They have to honor that price. I work in retail and sometimes we forget to change the price on an item we have to honor it no question asked.

That should be the case and that is how things are typically operated online but not always. We've seen website goofs where $1000 TV's get listed for $200 and sometimes they honor the order and sometimes they cancel. Rarely does anything come of it. Even in stores staff doesn't always follow the law and customers almost never call them on it. TRU in particular has a track record of canceling preorders they "accidentally" price them lower than they wanted. That's why people worry when they order something on sale.

I've gotten great prices preordering MP Transformers and such but I've seen people that ordered at the same time for the same price get their orders canceled. They never outright say it's because the price was lower than they wanted. They claim some other problem with the order or say they don't know if they will have enough stock to fill your order and cancel it. Had it happened with me where they canceled my order because of no stock and then the item showed up in stock less than two weeks later and I was able to buy it at a higher price. TRU is ruthless with their exclusive pricing.

VashTS 06-06-2014 06:33 PM

I am pissed about not getting the TRU 40 percent off. I am on the fence with the X-Men Legends....I guess it's a skip outside of Stryfe unless I get them at a steep discounted price of 15 bucks or so.

I agree I don't think will get cancelled, I just hope they do pop back up on tru.com to pre order even at 20 a pop I don't mind. But yeah totally sucks missing out on the sale currently going on. Sigh, you win some you lose some I suppose.

The case pics show only Toxin, no Carnage. So sad. Why is Hasbro not giving fans Carnage that many missed?

Same with Hydra and Aim.

Spyne98 06-07-2014 05:59 AM

Yeah, we need more Carnage and Black Cat figures. I was lucky enough to find them, but my friend didn't and he doesn't want to pay insane online prices. But that Agent Venom, I want that!

ChuckSass 06-07-2014 10:44 AM

well done hasbro. Agent Venom is too cool.

Maybe we'll get Moonstar :D

Legally they cant, but that didn't stop them from canceling my order of dark elves.

themerch424 06-07-2014 12:47 PM

TRU canceled Masterpiece Soundwave orders when they put them up on their Ebay site too soon.

cidman911 06-07-2014 12:59 PM

Buyer beware. There's scumbags repacking bootleg Deadpools onto the X-Force Deadpool packages.

if hat was at Ross Marshalls or Burlington I would pick them up just because they are cheap...good fodder if nothing else.
but yeah that sucks that people are doing that...

Iceman 06-07-2014 01:41 PM

If they present is as a special carded custom then whatever but if they are passing it off as the real thing that's lame.

Relena Warcraft 06-07-2014 07:12 PM

Anyone got advice for securing the Storm and Magneto from the Jubilee BAF wave? D:

cidman911 06-07-2014 07:24 PM

Relena Warcraft pre order them on Dorkside toys or wbcollect
