Great photos! It looks like you found some figures with good paint. I found one of each at my local TRU yesterday and most of the paint on them was atrocious. Wolverine and Cap were the worst. Wolverine's heads and the mask accessory looked really shabby and the legs didn't match the yellow paint on his torso. All the painted on whites on the Captain America looked terrible too. The Black Widow (the only one I picked up) and Iron Man were the best of the bunch. That Iron Man is a big improvement over the Epic Heroes version from the knee down, but I couldn't justify spending another $20 on him. The Black Widow has almost no paint on her. I didn't start collecting ML until after the old 2-Pack versions were super expensive on eBay, so I'm glad to finally have a nice, comic style ML Widow withouthaving to break the bank.

My local Walgreens just stocked up with the Sandman wave. I haven't seen the vintage figures anywhere in my area.

Good paint, mostly yes. I probably would have picked up Punisher but the skull paint job was pretty bad.

However, my Wolverine's right wrist peg hole is bigger than it should be, so the hand pops out the moment I rotate it or use the wrist hinge. As such, I'm going to have to look for another one to exchange it with. Or at least, exchange the arms with.

I would have gotten Iron Man, but he is too short. Should have been called Iron Lad.

Another problem from the original release I see they failed to fix. Ugh...

went to think geek last night and found the punisher, looked good, nice paint apps., now to decide if i'm going to open him, the card graphics are amazing, when is Hasbro going to make a collector friendly blister card so we don't have to destroy the packaging to get to the figure

I LOVE the card back on these throwback ones. I also wish there was a way we could open and then put he figure back in without destroying the card. I think that's why I haven't been looking too hard for these figures.

Harbinger 11-03-2017 09:00 AM

Get 2...one to open and one to hang on the wall.

Great Pics, my only complaint about Cap, is that he doesn't come with an alternate maskless head...otherwise, his colors really pop!

@Dr.Kain - Great Photos!

So I picked up the Thor/Valkyrie 2-pack finally, the sheath for Valkyrie's sword doesn't appear to actually attach anywhere on her back or hip. Does anyone know where it's supposed to go?

I just tucked it under her belt. Probably WAS supposed to go somewhere but hasbro likely cheaped out.

Probably only 2 pack I haven't seen in stores...

VashTS 11-03-2017 04:16 PM

I have a few of the throwbacks and they are disappointing in hand. Pure profit and a lot of issues are there. Cap has that big head still, Spidey still has unpainted pegs, Wolverine is nice......

All the figures would have benifited from ample shading much like the card cover. I guess the paints were meant to be cheap and mimick the 90's but to not paint pegs is just bad.

I cannot see me going to invest in a series 2 if proper improvements are not made.I get it, the idea of not opening them and hanging them, but if you love opening stuff like I do, buying this sees like just a way to flush money down the toilet.

I still like the idea, but better execution is needed.

Captain Nash 11-03-2017 04:47 PM

I'm not really all that interested in the vintage wave (good thing too I guess.) I was thinking I might get the Widow for a good classic comic look but I might be holding off. Still, it's just one figure in the wave. I will probably do it. The rest...the concept is cool but I'm thinking it's more for in packaging aspect. I really don't need another Iron Man, Cap, Wolverine, etc.

You're supposed to slide it into her belt, I believe.

Not sure of the authenticity, but it looks like we may have a proper Gwen Stacy on the way...(screenshot from my Facebook feed...)

I just saw Thor Ragnarok. All I will say is that Hasbro didn't cheap out. You'll understand why when you see the movie.

Dude, we're swimming in them here.

EDIT: That Gwen looks pretty legit, though I can see how it could be a custom using Elsa as a base. But it looks pretty factory-style, so I'm leaning more towards real deal.

I'm leaning towards it being a custom. The parts seem to be: Kate Bishop hair, Susan Storm head, and Elsa Bloodstone body. The painted choker, shape of the neckline, and the gloved trigger fingers are some of the bigger tells, plus the black and white photo hides the fact that none of the parts have been painted yet.
