I almost forgot:
The Avengers plan one last mission to take hope straight outta Utopia. Cyclops stops Thor's hammer with one finger and blasts the shit outta him. Some weird Yin Yang symbol appears when Iron Fist gets in front of one of Emma's fire blasts. Cyclops or Emma, not clear who, actually thinks Iron Man's armor off of him. Then out of nowhere, Scarlet Witch appears. She says she sees how it ends and Cyclops attempts to touch her but is seemingly burned by the attempt. She extracts Hope and the entire team. Cyclops then comes to the realization that even though the mutants were near extinct the humans still came after them and even after they made the world a better place for everyone the humans still came for them. They will never stop because they know they can count on their heroes to do their dirty work so long as Human Leaders convince them its the "right thing to do". Cyclops then declares... ..."No more Avengers." Its worth mentioning that Jonathan Hickman wrote this issue and it was his final entry into this event. He certainly kicked the second act off on the right track. Cyclops takes the phrase "power trip" to all new levels of meaning. Plus anytime Cyclops talks down to Professor X and makes him his bitch is always satisfying to me. Even Magneto speaks of Cyclops with reverence. Also, based on their behavior in this issue, I think Beast and Black Panther are going to side with the X-Men. Beast makes sense, being a long time X-Man, and T'Challa knows make-up sex in in his best interest and Storm certainly won't be the one apologizing. I'd say sorry too if I was him ;) |

Also no offense to John Romita Jr., but Oliver Coipel's art in this issue is simply leagues better than the 5 issues before it. Fucking Breathtaking. And as for the actual issue, I love the way the story is going and how Iron Fist (your my boy blue, Danny!) is taking a much bigger role in this than in prior events in the Marvel U. I LOVED the quick snatch and grab/fight with The Five as the Avengers tried to snag Hope. From Danny withstanding the Phoenix blast, to Thor versus Cyclops that scene couldn't have been any cooler if they'd tried. ;D And on a final note, I totally want either MU or ML versions of The Five (particularly Cyke and Emma) as well as the sweet "spec-ops" style suits the Avengers wore during Hope's rescue. MAKE IT SO HASBRO!!! |

I would welcome Phoenix 5 figures of either scale at this point. |
I can't help but wish Remender was writing more on the main series. I heart to death Venom, X-Force, and Secret Avengers right now.
|
Hell yes to the phoenix 5. I'd luv to see that in a 5 pack even if it consists of repaints. Just as long as they use the new cyk mold. And we would get a magik and emma figure.
I like the direction issue 6 is going with. |
Just picked up #6 and VS. #3. #6 was really good. I really like cykes state of mind. Its very interesting coming from him. I can't wait for the next issue. I'm also loving VS. I mean its booty that they make use buy more comics buts the series has been so good. I didn't like that russian speak between magik and widow though. Marvel, I don't want to download another app just to read a panel... I saw an avengers on the stands. Spidey, Hope, and Iron Fist in the ancient city. Can anyone tell me what that was about? It looked important.

So spiderman speaks the famous words "with great power comes great responsibility"... and Hope somehow gets something out of it...I dont know, I didnt take too much out of it... |

As for Hope, she didn't think anyone could possibly relate to her eff'd up life and how everyone thinks she's supposed to do something special yet no one trusts her with anything. What she found in Spidey and his famous quote and his story was not only somehow who could relate but actually mastered it and turned it into a strength. She was in awe of what he said. I really appreciated that moment. |
It was one of those few moments where spidey doesnt make a quip and says something meaningful. I loved it.
|
I love the Phoenix 5 designs.
That being said though. I'm still leaning on Cyclops is going to end up biting the big one after all this. I'm also still wondering what's up with colossus and how Cytorak is reacting to cohabitating with the phoenix force(unstoppable force + the living embodiment of death and rebirth? That screams for a twist!). I'm rather surprised that issue hasn't come up yet anywhere. I'm also curious how limbo might react to Magick with Phoenix power. This entire might makes right story in the main line isn't doing much for me yet, though the infinite for 6 was definitely awesome. The side stories though so far have been pretty wow. Loving the Avengers Academy tie-ins. Especially issue 32. The other X-Titles really help give perspective on what exactly it is the phoenix 5 are doing and planning. Like the literally using telepathy to change minds is going a bit far among other instances of overstepping and rationalizing the why it's okay to fundamentally change people by force to what you desire them to be. |
I liked #6 a lot! I understand milking the cow, but seriously, I hate how it took 5 books to get to where they are now. 2 books could have covered it all so far.
Anyways, I agree with Snowflakin, I think somehow either Charles gives Cyke a mindwipe, but something naggin inside me tells me Magneto might be the one to end it for Scott. Mags has been too quiet in the series so far. Then again so has most of the back up X-Men. |

Charles I could see stepping in and doing something about it though. Among other possibilities to parallel the original dark phoenix saga. |

Magnus out of character is joining the x-men. Lol, atleast to me. But I agree, something doesn't seem right. Mags has to have some master plan concocted.
|
This exceeds anything Magneto ever dreamed of. He looks at Scott with reverence as of now. He's perfectly in character with what the writing has been developing since he brought Kitty Pryde back and saved her from that bullet she was stuck in.
Charles has always been bitchy about how things should be done and what not. He thinks his way is the only way even though he's been sketchy with how manipulative he's been in the past. |

As for Magneto joining the X-Men... That was explained over in Avengers Academy pretty well awhile back with Pietro. Magneto is turning the x-men into his new brotherhood from the inside. Which is exactly what's happening tbh. Cyclops' X-men pretty much are the new brotherhood while Wolverine's school is the Xavier dream. All the phoenix power did was speed the process up. Since the phoenix power embelishes on natural host traits... Cyclops is going to go more and more control freak on everyone. So out of all of them, he's the one that'll probably end up getting killed. While the others have different aspects that aren't as dangerous. (Namor's arrogance, Emma's vanity, Piotr is artistic and creative at his core other than cytorak's influence, Magick is a wild card though.) It's kind of funny in a way. Cyclops' plan is exactly why they kicked Xavier out of the X-Men. Manipulating people went against Xavier's own dream. Now Cyclops is ordering others to do the very thing that made them decide to kick Xavier out originally. |

Captain America or an Avenger makes sense though since it'll equate cyclops to a martyr for Magneto's dream which in turn will cement the new "brotherhood" staying together even though it's all heroes. |
what if.......professor x stops the xmen? In a absurd twist, he gets angry that he failed his students and his dream was unattainable and kills the(you know its gonnna happen)out of control phoenix five.
HOWEVOR ladies and gents, we still have to take into account the scarlet witch involvement, as it is seen she can hurt them. Scott touched her and it burned his hand. |
You guys all forgetting Nathan/Cable, he should be in this story arc along with Rachel/Marvel Girl. It would be sad if they're not in this next chapter, well at least Cable. It would make sense with the reasoning behind the X-Sanction storyline why the Avenger's had all that mutant holding gear that they had when Cable brought that stuff from the future to contain the Avengers in.
|
since the majority of the x-books tie ins came out this week, can you gus give some quick synopsis'? Thanks!
|
i really dont like where this story is going... seeing all the characters missing from the Astonishing X-Men wedding, I'm worried that they are either gonna be killed or something...
As for this weeks comics, SPOILERS AHEAD: Ms. Marvel came to Rogue to try and reason with her but they end up fighting and Rogue wins (although I think Ms. Marvel was holding back). Anyways i think she got through to Rogue because when Phoenix Magik came to put Ms. Marvel in a "Limbo" prison she placed on earth Rogue looked scared. (This was in X-Men Legacy) A group of Avengers got confronted by Phoenix Namor and some of the other X-Men and they fight, Hope was with them, and Rachel had a chance to take her down, but she opted to let her go instead and she lied about it to Cyclops. (Wolverine and the X-Men) looks like some of the x-men are starting to question the phoenix five... |
thanks havok. whats was up with the kid gladiator being surrounded by the avengers in the WATXM cover.
