Soooo , I picked up another Marvel Legends Sentinel. So I now have 10 of it. There are only 9 in the pic because #10 is in the back of the Legends shelf and I am not digging him out. Last week Hastings had their weekend sale of 33% off used toys and I pulled the trigger. He ended up costing 66$ but in reality only cost me about 30$ in gas money. My job gave me a 100$ gift card for driving to a meeting to pay for gas. Well that gas only cost about 30$, so the rest of that card was free money. I think I am done with Sentinels. I don't even know where to put these other than a box.

The Black Panther wave is up for preorder at Dorkside. I preordered Black Panther, Erik Killmonger, Nakia, and Okoye all loose.

Nice! Going to live vicariously through your pic. This BAF has always been my absolute favorite. The sculpt and paint-work definitely pushes it ahead of the MU version in my opinion.

Incredibly awesome Sentinel collection. That's about $1000+ right there based on ebay asking prices of $100 per Sentinel. I use to own a triad but sold off 2 a couple of yrs ago. Now I have one TB Sentinel & 2 of the Hasbro Sentinels from the MU line. There are many younger ML collectors that missed out on getting the TB BAF Sentinel from a decade ago & would love to get a ML Sentinel or 5 to battle their ML figures & can't afford to fork over $100+ for one on ebay. Hasbro really needs to make new classic John Byrne DOFP Sentinels. I understand them not being able to give us 16' scaled versions, but I'll settle for 10' versions and call em "Mark I" Sentinels which were around the 10ft scale back in the 60s when they 1st appeared in X-men comics. Not as BAFs either, but as a 2 pack army building item for around $75 a set. They can include a battle damaged alternate head for one and battle damaged arm or leg for the other. Flexible retraining capture coils like the TB versions had or hand blast accessories. I would get at least 3 sets minimum, maybe 4 for a squad of Sentinels. The only Sentinel I want as a BAF is Nimrod, the ultimate Sentinel. Make him in the 7-8 inch scale.

Nimrod is probably one of the most requested BAFs so I'd have to imagine/hope Hasbro is getting around to it sooner than later. Personally I still wish they'd give us a new non-BAF Apocalypse, it's most likely that I won't be getting the upcoming BAF since he is a BAF.

@Phantomcrow: the upper right Sentinel looks upset to have been drafted into the COG.

Love it LOL.

Dr Kain 11-10-2017 08:32 AM

I would love to have some Sentinels, I just can't justify their costs right now.

Phantomcrow 11-10-2017 09:16 AM

I have built this Sentinel army over MANY years. the first 5 or 6 were from parts building back when they were out in stores. A lot of places would sell parts for 5$ or less so I picked up a LOT of parts cheep over the first few years they existed. When Vintage Stock first started selling them complete they were only 50$ and I would pick them up when they were on sale. Not counting the first one I got in the regular figure wave, I have never payed more than 45$-50$ for a Sentinel. ( My latest even counts because I had that gift cart, so not full price out of hand). I sleep better if I don't think about my toy spending, ;-P

My custom Hydra enforcer. Shame is, Hasbro had the parts to do this themselves & it woulda been just as cost effective as what they did give us & more comic accurate & made sense. WTF asked for unmasked Hydra grunts? Or ones wearing SHIELD/UDON TM/CB helmets? Got one more enforcer to do.

It wouldn't have been "more cost-effective", because it would have required them to mold a new head. The whole thing with that 2-pack is that it didn't require them to mold any new parts at all.

Tomax 11-10-2017 02:33 PM

i dont like sentinels. i have none. they take up too much space and they look like if they have winter beanies on, cant take them serious.

Archangel 11-10-2017 02:50 PM

I was late to the party on ToyBiz Sentinels. It cost a bunch to build my first one. I feel like I need 2 more....but I can’t justify the prices being paid for them. Hopefully I can track down a deal one day.

Can't wait for the Black Panther wave. I can't make up my mind bout another Iron Man, but the others will get updated. The movie figures will need a new slot. We are beyond excited about Danai and Lupita, and I think they will stand next to our new TV ( first one in years).
My godson wants the whole wave for Christmas, so I will be all in. Twice.
I still love my series one Iron Man, what can I say? I'm old.

Latest buys from our local guy! Also got Cosmic Spidey on the way, and possibly Tombstone in the near future.

Incidentally, does anyone know what the peg hole on Man-Thing's back/shoulder/neck is for?

Captain Nash 11-10-2017 08:07 PM

Against my better judgement I went ahead and ordered Killmonger and Nakia. Because I'm SUPPOSED to be cutting back...o_O. But I'm compromising and not getting an extra Nakia and the BP to get a Oyoke head...so that's half the figures I was planning on getting. I wish I could say I was excited about getting the figure but I'm really so meh on this wave...

They easily could have just sculpted on lenses & paint a mask on the Drax the Destroyer head sculpt or Radioactive man> Instead they just cheaped out with Nuke/RM regular heads & a cheesy CB helmet. Asides from the top tier Hydra leaders, the rest of Hydra grunts are never maskless.

No, because again, that would have required any degree of new sculpting at all, even if small, which would have required them to make new metal molds. The thing with the Hydra two-pack is that there was none at all, to give us army-builder Hydra soldiers with customization options at a bit of a lessened cost to themselves. So far, most people I've seen have been pretty satisfied with it, and don't have too much of an issue with the reuse.

And who says the big dudes can't be higher tier soldiers?
