I just got back from visiting a local Target that had a really good assortment of stock for TFA and Rogue One. Not this time. They had one peg with enough space for 12 3.75" figures with five remaining (2 Kylo Ren and 2 Poe Dameron, one FO stormtrooper) and a few 12" figures and that was all.

I was able to score a 6" Black Series Hera from Target yesterday. Great looking figure.

So I was grocery shopping tonight at Walmart and they had a display out for the Last Jedi that was pretty much full of all the new movie merchandise. I have a friend who works there and he was telling me how they didn't even do any kind of midnight event or anything, they just set the display up on Friday and stocked it as they would any of the other display caps. I was able to get all 4 figures I had pre-ordered with Amazon and was then able to cancel the Amazon orders plus I got the benefit of comparing figures and finding ones that didn't have bad paint apps (not that many did but small things here or there that were not done right on a few of them). I'm gonna hold off on opening any of them though since it is now September which means I like to hoard all of my hauls up until the end of the month for a birthday super haul. I also grabbed myself a Porg pop because they only had the one left and I found it appealing in person since unlike most every other pop the eyes actually work for the Porg.
I'm a little surprised that the repack of Darth Vader was the most common figure but then I suppose that most people who really wanted him just got the Legacy pack. The new vehicle sets seem alright but I don't like how the Luke's head looks in the landspeeder pack and then I don't care about Rey's popsicle speeder thing. I also looked at the centerpiece diorama figurine pieces and while I think that the concept of those and display value are pretty cool I definitely don't think they're $50 cool. |

the stores here still haven't gotten much outside of the pops and the basic figures but i did pick these up today |
Found every 3.75 figure I wanted except Homeless Luke. Not that many, Rose, Paige, the Rey two pack and Chewie. Will want Leia when she releases. Want a Snoke and would have some interest in that playset if it were 40-50% of the cost. No way at what they're asking. Hoping they release him individually at some point.
Is there going to be a 3.75 black series for this movie? I hope they do a Luke for it, will want that even more than the 5 POS I mean POA figures we're getting now. Could even convince me to just wait. |

There is. I ran into Luke, Rey, and Rose tonight at Wal-Mart. |
There seems to be a lot of people shifting away from the Hasbro 6" stuff across the Internet. Seems everywhere I go to read something, someone is beginning an exodus from it. The offerings from other companies are more appealing than Hasbro and if you can't hunt them and buy online, might as well get the best available version.
I'm quite content with my little 3.75" 5 poa collection going. Since we didn't COLLECT Star Wars until Force Awakens we don't have any super articulated Star Wars figures. So the 5 poa ones on a stand on a shelf work well for us. Not bothered about dynamic posing with them. That said, I hope the Vintage Line kills it and makes so many very happy around the world. Star Wars 3.75 " fans are the biggest group of action figure collectors out there. We owe our modern day figures to that dedicated group. May the force be with them. Going to a local Toys R Us tomorrow and told my son he can pick out ONE new TLJ figure. The rest will be Christmas presents along with the Kylo Tie Silencer. Will pick up a few Stormies and several of the main figures for Christmas. The rest of them can wait for next year along with the big playset, that can wait until next summer when it is £89. Like I said, the rest will wait until after the film. Game on in January for the sale though. I want two more Tie Fighters to go with the four we have (love how they were 'stacked' in threes in FO on the command ship) at least one A-Wing, but maybe a second in the future. I'd love four X-Wings to go with Poe's black one. Maybe the new B-Wing looking bomber it depends, just think it would look nice next to the FO Millennium Falcon. Not interested in the police vehicle and the new one with Poe skimming the surface of the red planet. I think that will be enough vehicles for now.... Until the new AT walkers (from the leaked pics) come out. |

Thanks to the answers re: the 3.75 black series, that's very helpful! I might not wait to get the 5POA if I see him, as a placefiller. I know I will want him in the Black series at some point though. It's so hard to find the correct information anymore, with the lines having the same name, deciphering what you think is correct and ends up being 6 inch, which I don't collect for Star Wars (mainly bc I dont' need to start yet another collection lol).

Okay, can I just state something that has just started bothering me?
Going by Amazon prices, Mattel has their Justice League Action figures going for $7.99, and they're slightly larger, have semi-decent articulation, AND have the big, goofy accesories that nobody cares about. Hasbro, on the other hand, has the Last Jedi figures at the same price with only 5 POA and NO useless accesories...How much does that Force Link chip cost? Why not put that money into giving them a bit more articulation? You know, give COLLECTORS some incentive to buy your crap so it doesn't decay on the pegs? Food for thought. |
Whoa. That black series Luke is nice. And sometimes the 5POA headsculpts are nicer than the black series ones IMO and you gotta do a headswap... Luke's headsculpt is nice though.
And I'm glad there is no blue outfit 3.75" black series Rey yet... maybe when it finally comes out she can be in a different looking outfit. |
That black series Luke....very nice!

I for one, am grateful for the 5 poa line. I want it to stay at 5 POA personally. Sounds odd to champion the cause of reducing articulation I know. Here is why..... As I have stated before, I am a 3.75" collector. Only Marvel and we specialize in army building. I would rather have 50 of the same figure than 50 different figures, it is just how we roll. I collect with my son and we love it. When collecting Marvel 3.75" figures HASBRO is always lowering the quality and increasing the price. Bane of my existence, truly. Also they are almost exclusively available online and in limited releases now days. The Force Awakens comes out. Skip all the pre movie sales and watch the film on his birthday, New Year's Eve day..... LOVE it immensely. Grab a figure here, another there, and another and another. Before we know it, we are mostly all in, except for aliens, extra droids and the random characters. Only Resistance and First Order for us. The fun is that EVERY one of them is bought in store and the hunt is thrilling. We don't mind the 5 poa as the sculpts are amazing and NO soft goods, of which I am not a fan. My son likes the Original Trilogy, but doesn't love it. Not enough to collect it anyway, thank God screams my wallet. Also, his young eyes have never been tainted with the filth that is the prequel trilogy. That said, since The Force Awakens figures were 5 poa, I really want a dedicated 5 poa line to have consistency throughout the final three films. We also have a strict one version of any character on display rule. Since seeing the the new beautiful (to me anyway) 3.75" figures we decided we need a different shelf for each film. An episode seven shelf, an eight and a nine. Most likely, a Resistance shelf and a First Order shelf for each film, so six shelves in total. I know it is against the collector code to love and openly advocate a 5 poa line.... but I absolutely love them just as they are and look forward to buying another 100+ of them over the next two films. Still army building, old habits die hard. |
Wow, I don't think my stores even got the new 6inch figures. My TRU and Target are still flooeded with the same 6inch figures they have had for months without even a single price tag to show they even got in new stuff.

found a lone Black Series Darth Vader among a sea of Force awakens Finn black series figures at my local target
Disappointed i must have missed the last jedi ones but i did want the vader without the excessive pricetage/base |

Personally, it would've been better if the vehicles could activate the chips, too. |
