^ I want that Gamestop Deadpool mainly for the pink katanas... just in case Pyslocke doesn't come with any. I doubt I will even see him at Gamestop later today when I go to buy some cheap games though.

*high five* ML Polaris is one of my fav ML figs. I wonder if she would have sold better if she had a different outfit.

Was really hating the Mary Jane head being used on the vintage Widow, so I decided to do the same head swap that everyone else is going to (the neutral Jean Grey head from the Dark Phoenix two pack...) This left me feeling like Jean was getting the shaft however, and there was no way my Phoenix was going back to that hideous head she originally came with, so I finally figured out a solution...

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4554/...cf32ce_k_d.jpg

Was able to swap the Vintage Widow/Mary Jane head with the Juggernaut Phoenix's hair, and after a little tinkering with the dremel and some sanding, got it to fit just right. There is a tiny bit of gap on the sideburns, as the original Phoenix head had some sculpted hair bits (I may add some paint shading later though to better hide it,) but otherwise, I'm really happy with the result. I was able to make good use of the vintage Widow's beautifully painted face to improve a different figure, without relegating it to Mary Jane cosplaying as Black Widow, while the Dark Phoenix head makes a great placeholder on the vintage Widow until the Riders Widow comes out with the new headsculpt.

Has anyone tried these heads off eBay?

I’m curious how well the ball joint fits.

The upcoming Psylocke has been shown with her katana, psychic knife, and psychic butterfly effect by Hasbro. I can't imagine they would release her without any of them at this point.

I imagine that Polaris sold just fine. The figures I ran into more than the rest was Dazzler and Shatterstar.

It is weird that just changing the hair makes me no longer automatically recognize that headsculpt as the MJ Widow headsculpt.

I'm really liking her, too! Wasn't too fond of her cape, though so I swapped it with a 3.75 Doctor Doom's. I like the way it sits on the figure a lot more, plus the gold chain accents the figure in a nice way.

Got the ToysRUs All New X-Men set from a fellow board member, my brother was with me while opening the box and when I pulled Iceman out he told me to not touch it at all. He said a lot of his collecting friends have had it break and crumble similar to the Target ex. Vision. The ankles in particular. The seller wasn't aware of this issue and never had issues with him. Is it common? Needless to say this figure hasn't been touched! Haha.

I'm just not familiar enough with the figure.

My Iceman and Target Vision are both fine in terms of plastic durability but they do each have some loose joints.

Penguino 11-24-2017 03:44 PM

I personally know one person who's Target Vision's ass cracked off where the barbell for hips is inserted, haven't seen others though.

The Astral Movie Strange as far as I know doesn't have these issues. At least mine is in one piece.

Trivial Psychic 11-24-2017 11:41 PM

I received my Defenders box set in the mail today...there were a couple of red flags and annoyances, and I just wanted to run over some thoughts in case there were any of you who hadn't picked it up yet and were on the fence.

Daredevil: I thought this would be one of my favorite figures in the set, but it turned out to be one of my least. The problem with it is that Hasbro couldn't figure out what color they wanted Daredevil to be. I get that they wanted to give a little bit of a shaded look to him, but the problem is that Hasbro used no less than three different colored plastics on the figure, creating a mish-mash of red that's jarring to look at and doesn't have any sort of flow to it. This is especially noticeable on the bottom half of the figure, as Daredevil has blood red hips and upper thighs, a much lighter red set of thighs, and a maroon colored pair of boots. The boots I don't mind so much, but the darker hips and upper thighs makes it look like Daredevil is wearing a darker pair of spandex shorts over his regular costume. The new billy clubs are nice and the details on the head are great, but those mismatched plastic colors are ugly and stand out for the wrong reasons.

Iron Fist: I actually prefer this version over the one we previously received, as the skin tones are nice, and the the tattoo on the bare chest looks cool. What's nice is that the parts from the original figure also work on this one, but if you missed out or passed on the original, then you're out of luck because Hasbro only included the fire hands clip on, and not the clear "chi" hands. Still a solid figure though, and while I wasn't high on another version of the character so soon, I do like it.

Luke Cage: This one I was most excited to get, as trying to grab the SDCC version of Luke will run you about the same as picking up this box set, which comes with 3 other figures. I actually feel this Luke is superior to the T-Bolts version, as I really like the new boots and the solid colored gauntlets, which can be removed. Not a whole lot of paint, but the paints that are there are crisp and solid, and makes this guy my favorite out of the box set. I'm really glad that Hasbro gave us a second crack at this guy, even if we had to get another box set to have that chance...

Jewel: Now...where to start...It's Silk...cosplaying as Jessica Jones. If you can get past that though, there's still some positives, mainly in that the line work is fairly clean, and Hasbro made some good choices on the white plastics used, as well as the skin tones. My only gripes, the jewel on her hip could have been painted with a few more coats of paint, as you can see the belt underneath it. I can imagine that Hasbro was going for an actual jewel effect with the lighter coats of paint, but it just comes off looking unfinished. The other issue, is her forearms...which for some reason, Hasbro casted in blue plastic, and painted the upper arms flesh colored in an attempt to match the flesh tones on the torso. The only problem is that Hasbro failed miserably in doing so, leaving her with a funky bluish tan above her gloves, and easily the most botched attempt to match plastic colors with paint since Hellcat.

Despite my complaints, it's a decent set, especially considering the value of getting Luke Cage, which I have a custom standing in my collection at the moment because the prices on the SDCC version were stupid. Jewel is a nice addition (although I may end up swapping out the hair piece like I did for the recent vintage Black Widow) and I really like this version of Iron Fist more than the Dr Strange wave version. Daredevil was easily the most disappointing of the bunch, and I might end up dissecting him for some swap parts with the original version if the plastic colors match up well enough.

Edit: They don't...

I mean, to be fair, characters that we think of today as having worn straight-up pants with no trunks, including Daredevil (and Captain America, among others) often were drawn with trunks the same color as their pants earlier on:

Although that what the figure has does sound more like a straight-up error rather than an homage to a now-dropped costume element.

I agree...it was not uncommon for superheroes to wear their briefs over their costume (Superman and Batman come to mind) but the shaded effect they went foe just came out all kinds of wrong. The arms are also a different shades of red from the torso, as is the head. My eyes might be fooling me, but there are at least 3 different colored intensities of red plastics being incorporated. I'm not sure what happened at the factory with the inconsistent plastics, or if it was an intentional design decision.

A shame because if they needed an example of how it should be done, they should have looked at the Spider-Man classics DD, or the more recent Cyclops from the Dark Phoenix two pack, which came out VERY good and had an excellent black wash on it. Toxin also did the shaded reds pretty good as well.
