Off topic but the IH Wonder Girl headsculpt is great for an Asian female head.
Currently using it for a female fighter pilot custom as well as for an unmasked Cass Cain Batgirl. |

Everyone complains DC figures aren't as big as MU, but really it's because MU is WAY our for scale |
I think if Multiverse had more time, better distribution, and more of a selection than just the Arkham games it would have done just as well as MU.

Fast forward, collecting them opened up more hobbies, like toy photography and building dioramas and doing stopmotion. Now concerning Multiverse; I stayed away from them at the start because of the lack of articulation. Then MU turned into subpar, less articulated, pricier, less quality figures. Multiverse started to peak my interest and I went ahead and bought a Batman and although I wa initially bummed by the lack of articulation; the sculpt was amazing and the line grew on me. I will say this: Multiverse really did deliver on villians. MU didn't really have many in ratio with the amount of heroes being pumped out. Looking at my multiverse collection; I am pleased that Batman, Nightwing, and sometimes Catwoman can battle a horde of Batman foes, Giant and small. Plus I finally have a decent Movie Superman and Batman in scale which I was greatly a fan of in my childhood. I was really bummed out when they canceled the line because it looked like they were bound to progress in their sculpts and probably add more and more articulation which is saying a lot for Mattel who delivered 5 POA for decades which always kept me away. |
Yeah it sucks this line is going away. I can't find a deathstroke and he is going for $30+ on Amazon and close to that on ebay. I hope they still release more of that batman beyond/ deathstroke wave.

This Bullseye figure has a hand with some playing cards in them that I personally think would be cool with a Joker figure if it was painted up nicely.

Batman Beyond
I received both Batman Beyond and Batman '66 DC Multiverse today. I'll do a quick mini-review of both.
There are no surprises here. If you have been buying the Multiverse figures, then this is the same basic Arkham Batman body - short and broad compared to MU. It has a rotating head, swivel hinge shoulders, hinged elbow, rotating wrist, rotating waist, swivel hinge-modified t-crotch, rotating cut for the lower thighs, and hinged knee. There is no ankle or feet articulation or any kind of articulation below the knees. Yes, some of that could be better, but the big problem is the proportions, especially for Batman Beyond. Batman Beyond is slender in the animated series, and this body just isn't slender enough or tall enough. But I have to try and remember that this isn't supposed the be the animated version - this is the video game version. I haven't played the game, but Batman Beyond does look thicker in the game from what I have seen. Front, side, and back: http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/...psfbnww4e4.jpg Articulation on display: http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/...psqtxqa2gx.jpg The figure is very ripe for parts theft. I plan to move the head and belt to the MU "skinny" buck, on the right in this picture. I will move over some Spider-Man 2099 lower arms: http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/...pswudx7hca.jpg I put the Marauder Task Force head on the new Chameleon body and Photoshopped the hair gray. I think this is a dead ringer for future Bruce Wayne, so I'll be needing another Chameleon body: http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/...psmfi4sg3j.jpg http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...20130417184120 Overall, the shorter, wider Batman figures just aren't doing it for me. The head and belt are removable, but the belt will take some work if you want the parts. The line is ending this year with no 3.75" replacement on the horizon that we know of. If you want these, it may behoove you to move quickly. |
Batman '66
Batman '66 is very similar to Batman Beyond. They use the same body, with the only differences being the collar piece, the belt, the head, and shorter boots. The big draw here for me, again, is the parts.
The head bears a good resemblance to Adam West's Batman. I can only think of one caster who offers an Adam West head - Glassman - and it is shown in my pictures below. But I'm not sure any caster has an Adam West belt. This one is pretty good, but you can barely see the Bat-symbol in metallic silver on the metallic gold belt buckle. But it IS there. The cape is cloth, and I personally have a disdain for soft goods. Front, side, and back: http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/...pstcspmfgi.jpg What baffles me with this figure is what could have been done. the Christopher Reeve Superman body would have been excellent in terms of proportions. And an earlier Arkham Batman had a non-soft goods cape with a collar which would have been very nice cast in blue. But they went in a completely different direction. Once again, I think they were focused on matching the game version and not the TV version. Bah. http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/...psut3emw1w.jpg And here is a size comparison with the MU "skinny" buck. http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/...psosiucsfq.jpg Well, that's about it for these two figures. I'll be cannibalizing them, but I will display them for now until I get around to them. Who knows? The may be on my shelf for a year or so. Until then, they'll do. I gotta do that Bruce Wayne Beyond, though! |
yikes at that cape. wish they'd given him plastic cape instead or the same one keaton batman has. still super excited to get him but I think it would have worked better.
|
Honestly I think the Big Time Spidey on the left would make a pretty good base for a Batman Beyond.
